    It would be nice to see a video of you explaining WHY you chose the methods you did regarding the volume block, which reverbs and delays to use, as well as your reasons for using the settings you did, such as how does the A/B split settings you assigned to a footswitch work.
    I like watching this process of creating new tones, but sometimes I’m completely lost regarding how you know what you know on the Helix and why you made the decisions you did, especially with one such to control 5 different settings. And yes, please add this to the folder. Thanks 🙏

    This may not be the best Edge guitar tone I’ve heard but it is definitely the best Bono commentary.

    I love The Edge, we take it for granted because like a lot of people have stated it's become a staple for Worship Music / Indie and alternative rock but I love the experimentation that the early 80s bands U2, The Cure, Bauhuas experimented with. Thanks for this John Nathan. As a lapsed Satanist I approve of this tone 😈 in fact some of Ghost BC's more melodic stuff is quite Edge-like

    He uses a couple of Boogies off-stage John and a Fernandes sustainer pickup - (maybe it's called a "sustaniac"?) - like the guy from Radiohead has in his signature strat. Also, contrary to popular belief, there's a guy under the stage at U2 gigs who "contributes".

    Would really like to see a video on how you'd approach something similar for the Pod GO. I know it wouldn't have dual amps, or parallel paths.. but how would you go about making something similar that would get in the ballpark?

    Truth: 100% of all worship music is just variations on 'With or Without You'. I would love to know how that happened

    • @timelmore2
      @timelmore2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You would need to add vintage coldplay to that as well. They are just big singable songs that most people can learn to play. The dynamics draw people in, the ambience creates the mood, and the melodies are great for crowds of people to sing. That's what churches are looking for.

    • @umatgeratonleik2584
      @umatgeratonleik2584 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timelmore2 Wehey, an actual pastor! What's so mysterious to me as a European, is that I remember a time in the nineties where all the congregations outside of the state church where still exclusively singing the "nearer my God to thee" repertoire accompanied by anything from harmonium to accordion (or if they where progressive a Yamaha e-Piano of some sort), depending on the size of the congregation. I'm in the Protestant state church and used to visit my aunt's congregation pretty often, but even then it was shocking how very suddenly they'd built a stage, bought freaking drums, guitars, a Vox amp and a big PA; all previously banned by the elders!
      The youth group where all furiously learning their instruments, and some of them went from novice to master in the span of a year. And even if there where and are open fights between many of these congregations, the musical taste of these young musicians all disproportionately leaned towards whatever The Edge was playing. I just don't understand what was going on, and neither do they when I ask them. They where all into DC Talk, apparently, but the delay fetish definitely wasn't DC Talk

    • @timelmore2
      @timelmore2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@umatgeratonleik2584 it did take some time. I would still lead the congregation in nearer my God to thee, but I'd open it with ambient swells using a shimmer verb and it wild peak with some simple high gain lines. Same God, same worship, different music.

    • @jonandtice
      @jonandtice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the this song came out on the Joshua Tree album, many regarded U2 as a christian band. Most of the lyrics from the album come from Bono's studies of the bible. That album came out the year I was born but it wasn't until I was a teenager that we started to see the influence creeping in. 15-20 years is usually how long christian culture lags behind mainstream culture.
