These videos serve to clarify the existing styles of Muay Boran and their characteristics, including many rarely known, with videos or illustrative images, and a final part that deals with fake scam styles that circulate today.

    Muay Thai It comes from the word มวย that means fight, and ไทย means Thai.
    muay thai type
    1.muay korat(strong punch)
    2.muay lopburi(clever)
    3.muay chaiya (good step)
    4.muay tasao (fastest)
    5.muay thai physically (popular, use for training your body)
    6.muay lertrit (use for training thai soldiers)
    1-4 is old But you can actually use it because it's both dumping, slashing, catching and breaking.
    5 is new use It's for sports.
    6 is new for kill

    Thank god I'm in the right art
    I started training modern muay thai(Modern and chaiya style) back in 2019, that was my very own resolution that i like to switch it up from my taekwondo to muay thai, i can still used some taekwondo moves, it's kinda same as those muay thai kicks except the jumping side kicks.
    Thank god i didn't join that cult of a Scam muay thai who have no legit methods or any work out routines. Because i needed to be careful who trust.
    The reason why i want it to start muay thai is because i needed to working out, learn some few strikes, block, Techniques and i needed to lose some weight for a change.
    Great video. I now understand some styles.
    I might write down on my Note list of these types styles that i like to remind and learn or search some of them online.

      @@GaawutProductions A question, what's the difference between modern muay boran and modern muay thai?

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@-pao_de_queijo- Modern Muay Boran, better known as Muay Nam (Boxing of Water), is the style of Muay Boran that I founded with the aim of reforming Muay Boran by simplifying it, removing impractical techniques, refining what was useful, adding the great wealth of knowledge of modern fighting, and science.
      It is not a finished and crystallized style, it's always changing and improving.
      In Modern Muay Boran the focus is on the purest form of fighting:
      -Bare-knuckle
      -9 weapons of the body
      (Headbutts too)
      -Stand-Up Wrestling
      (All takedowns and throws allowed)
      -No rules
      -No ground fighting because in ancient times going to the ground meant death.
      (Only a basic defense system to get up quickly if you fall to the ground).
      However, many concepts can be effectively used in Muay Thai, Lethwei, MMA, and much more.
      The difference with Muay Thai is enormous because Muay Thai has many limitations, rules and a points-system
      (The Burmese Boxing, Lethwei, is closer to Muay Boran than Muay Thai itself so you can imagine the differences)
      If you check out my website you can find out more about Modern Muay Boran, link is on my channel or in the description.
      Muay Boran is like a rusty sword due to tradition, wrong training methods, and wrong fighting logic.
      Most Muay Boran masters today just keep it rusty and add beautiful jewels to sell it.
      For me it's different, I aim to restore its effectiveness.

    Muay Jerng forms look very similar to yet another South East Asian martial art: Pencak Silat of neighbouring Malaysia. The Malays of the Kelantan-Southern Thai border call Muay Thai 'Tomoi' & basically this was the place where Silat locks & takedowns married with muay thai strikes & clinch but interestingly? This was at the South of Thailand, Northern Malaysia. The La Na Kingdom of Muay Jerng is North of Thailand, many miles away. And yet, the moves incorporated dance-like forms very similar to Pencak Silat at a glance. Maybe, just maybe Thai martial art evolved into hardcore battlefield arts due to invasion from neighbouring countries like Burma (Myanmar) whilst Silat retained it's aesthetic dance-like qualities from a lack of constant invasion/civil wars. Much like how the La Na kingdom banned combat sports & became closed off.
    I'm beginning to see that martial arts like Muay Boran or ancient Lethwei were born out of a need to hit the battlefields & their techniques merged to form the standard in terms of killing blows, while less violent arts like Silat or Muay Jerng remained unevolved; pretty much "virgin" so to speak.

    3:33 Could you give us more information 'Muay Phraya Pichai Dab Hak'. I am really interested in learning the style.

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is an extract from an article on my blog:
      "The style of the hero Phraya Pichai Dab Hak, also known as Thongdee Fan Kao. This style was born from the union of Muay Thasao with Chinese martial arts. Many of the features of Muay Thasao are the same for this style as well, it is heavily focused on fast kicks, and it aims to defeat the opponent in the shortest possible time. The stance is almost identical to the Thasao one but the front arm is bent and held near the eyebrow, while the rear arm is held near the chin to protect it and to protect the neck. Practitioners of this style prefer to position themselves externally to the opponent, and not to face him frontally".
      Another peculiarity of the style is kicking without swinging the arms, check out the article "Muay Boran Styles Overview" on my blog (link in bio and on my youtube channel) to find more information.
      There at least 2 books published by the Muay Thasao Phraya Pichai headmaster on the style, but they are in Thai language 🙏

    How do I train the forms like karate does with Kata to Bunkai then to kumite
    I'm just now learning Muay thai

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Forms are not beneficial to Muay in my opinion, it's better to learn the techniques by exercising with a cooperative partner that gives you sense of distance, timing and weight distribution. Then once you have learned the correct form, practice them in shadowboxing and sparring.
      Karate's Kata have sequences that simulate real combinations, while Muay's forms are just a compendium of techniques without a practical progression.
      I've translated the oldest Muay book and there are some great drills to do with a partner, I recommend it 🙏

    Which style would use elbows the most? I'm looking to research a muay boran style that utilizes the elbows to destroy the limbs or the chest and thigh area. Such as elbowing the forearm, bicep, tricep, chest, collar bone, thigh, knees and even the head. Can anyone help me out?

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Using the elbows to attack key points such as the joints, tights, bicep and chest is a strategy common to all styles of Muay Boran, in my style, the Modern Muay Boran, this strategy is call "Hak Peek" which means "to break the wing". There are styles that use the elbows more than others, but basically everyone uses them. Muay Chaiya uses them a lot and mainly use active defenses, like blocking with the elbows (Pid), which in turn damage the opponent's limbs.

    • @GaawutProductions
      @GaawutProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I happened to find articles in which the traditional styles were called with the terms: Paak Eesaan (Muay Korat), Paak Tai (Muay Chaiya), Paak Klang (Central styles like Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Lopburi) Paak Nuua (Muay Thasao). But I honestly have no idea where they come from and who uses them. My teachers have never mentioned these terms, and I rarely find them on the web. The World Muay Boran Federation in my experience does not use them, so I can't assure you the truthfulness of the source. It is better to call the styles with today's certain and commonly used terms (Muay Korat, Muay Pranakorn, Muay Lopburi, etc.) by those who work in the sector.

      In Ong Bak Tony Jaa uses a hybrid style with some exaggerated features to make it more spectacular. I would recommend my style, the Modern Muay Boran, for more info check out my video "What is Modern Muay Boran?", You'll understand why I recommend my style. If you exclude mine I would say that Korat, Lopburi, Chaiya, and Thasao Phraya Pichai Daab Hak are the most practical, but they have their flaws, I recommend you again to see the video on my style for more information. Remember that styles do not fight, it is the practitioner who makes the style effective (of course, you have to at least make sure you don't have a style that is good for theatrical performances, and not for fighting, like Aikido). Everything must be accompanied by the right methods of technical training, strength and conditioning, and nutrition. It takes a lot of time and resources, personally, I don't believe in self-defense, there are people who know how to fight and people who don't, that's it.

I recommend you the style that I'm currently developing and teaching on my channel, the Modern Muay Boran, which takes the best from the regional styles and many other styles, reforming them with current scientific and fighting knowledge, with practicality first in mind.
