to everyone saying she didn’t do anything wrong: Madoka sacrificed herself because of her love for everyone, and because she had hope in the earth. She knew what she was going to do, and accepted her fate because of that love and hope. Homura ruins that by taking that away from not only Madoka, but everyone, and it is for her own selfishness. never once dose she say, “I’m doing this in order to save Madoka, or help her.” What she dose do is keep saying over and over again how much she wishes she could see Madoka, or misses her. and they already killed the incubators when Madoka saved her, so there is no need to save her from being used by them. It’s purely selfish love. That being said, Homura is my favorite because she is flawed, it’s not being flawless that makes someone a good character.

Madoka may have become a god in order to save all magical girls, but her existence was one where she, as a concept, could not have any interaction with the physical world. Homura changed that; she offered another chance for all the magical girls. Though it's true that Madoka is no longer the law of cycles, Homura let the incubators take that place. That is why we can see a physically and mentally scarred Kyubey in the epilogue. So in fact, she has not changed anything about the universe except for the fact that Madoka is no longer the law of cycles unless she will retrieve her memories as a god... not to mention Madoka can live a normal life now. And Homura did all that in exchange for becoming a demon, so if anything I would argue the opposite: Homura's actions were out of selfless love for Madoka.
Homura did nothing wrong. Honestly, rewatching the anime, I should have seen the plot twist coming. Because madoka was not happy as a god. And all homura wants is for madoka to be happy, and the only way for that to happen was to make her human again, which she was at the end of rebellion. The ending is bittersweet.
That, and with Madoka as part of the Law of Cycles, the Incubators were now fully aware of it. They planned to use Madoka to manipulate it and even turn all magical girls to witches to gain a huge amount of energy. Homura's plan put an end to it. No need for magical girls to exist and the curse transferred to the Incubators.
But... how do we know that she was unhappy? Also, wasn't that her choice after all? I remember her talking about not having a purpose in life, when she was a human...
Homura did EVERYTHING wrong, just not on the morale side since this show is excellent at not judging his characters. Homura did everything wrong from the other girls point of view because she had done nothing but harm in order to fulfill her deepest desire, even if it meant going against the collective and universal will and good. Wheter or not Madoka was happy in her goddess form is ambigous, since she said that in a state were she is not her true self, but merely the reflection of what Homura want her to be : a helpless girl who do not believe in herself and need Homura to tell her how awesome she really is. It also does not matter : what she wanted was not happiness, but salvation for all the Puella Magis, to the point that she commited the ultimate act of self-sacrifice for the world. Madoka is complete when the world is secure, but Homura is complete only when she fulfill her desire. That why I dont like the idea of "she did nothing/ everything wrong" , since it's a judgement of what wish deserves to be fulfilled, when the two girl's wish are only two extreme, radically opposed visions.

If it was always completely selfish intent, I think Madoka would make it clear that such a thing is hurtful. That aside, for a start, Madoka's _Madoka_, for her to truly hate you...you would have to do something indescribably heinous. And while Homura's decision wasn't the best...well, she had her reasons, good and bad. And another thing- Madoka is a goddess who's sole intent is to bring a final mercy to those who couldn't have it before- she's the goddess of hope. But, if Homura somehow got to this point, she wouldn't break down. She probably wouldn't even care. But, it would be her final reassurance of her evil, and after that, there would, _truly,_ be no way to save her, because even god herself gave up on her.

I know Madoka can't hate anyone but well, if she doesn't understand why Homura did this to her, and if Homura keeps distancing herself with others and acts like a villian( things like harming Sayaka and Mami, probably she wouldn't do it but she would let Madoka think like that). I think it'd kinda be like a misunderstanding as first, which makes Madoka antagonizes Homura, whereas Homura tries to become a bad guy so that Madoka can't be merciful with her, then they'll fight. After all, when Madoka takes back her memories, she'll probably have a thought like it's really a bad thing to the world when Homura did that, and you know...things like destroying the world and the wish she had tried so hard to achieve. I doubt she'll get a full picture of what's happening. Kyubei can also join to makes her like that as well. That's also what Madoka's mother suggested with the quote "Do the wrong things", Madoka would hate her friend for it. Don't forget the ending part of Rebellion. Madoka herself said "If I have the choose, the only thing that changes, is me". Madoka might not be like herself before. It's interesting but I also want to see her making mistakes. At this point, Homura has made the whole world becomes her enemy. Then, after that, maybe....maybe Madoka would understand, but not now or anytime soon. I'd gladly accept a situation where Madoka could hate someone before coming to understanding. It'd be painful for Homura, but that's what she has chosen, she has to deal with it now. Urobuchi also said "one day, these two characters would fight" bc of the dualism between them. I believe it wouldn't be too long or hard to watch, eventually they would get along with each other sooner or later, but that's what will happen in the first moment.

Technically it wasn’t a happy ending for Homura because this isn’t what she wished for. She wanted to be strong enough to protect Madoka and she failed, forcing Madoka to sacrifice herself yet again just like in the past timelines, just because Homura herself was too weak to accomplish her goals. If I were Homura I’d be heartbroken, because no matter how hard she tried Madoka always had to give herself up to save Homura and everyone else. This was her final chance to redeem herself and change that. Despite how it’s very morally ambiguous, I can understand why she’d do what she did. Imagine if the person you cared for most died for you countless times and all you could do is try again despite failing over and over to save them. It’s a hopeless cycle, and I’m glad Homura broke it.

So, while she saw the events, she also knows Homura's every thought, and every intent behind her every action. I feel like, if Homura was always driven by solely selfish intent, we would've gotten a much different ending. And while you may try to argue Madola may have just been pandering out of, say, guilt, I see little evidence to support this. In fact, I see more evidence against it, and that's the fact that Madoka isn't one to just lie to people's faces. The only places she lies at all is when she thinks she has to (hence, doing something wrong for the right reasons) but this simply doesn't feel like one of those situations, nor does she show any actions to indicate she's lying out of guilt. Of course, however, this isn't to say Homura certainly doesn't have some selfish qualities. She definitely does. For starters, it's clear she wants Madoka to return the friendship, but she still tries to push past this for Madoka's sake as a person. This also applies to the position she put herself in in her new world. But on the contrary, the flower field scene- at that point, I believe Homura has every reason to feel, well, worried about Madoka. For starters, Homura just had to watch Madoka damn herself to a fate worse than death. Next, she was becoming paranoid as to whether or not her memories were even real, and finally- she had come to realize the Madoka in her barrier was the real Madoka. She wasn't thinking critically at that point, and was looking for confirmation that Madoka wouldn't truly want that- which is a bit selfish too, but I have little doubt she was extremely worried at the same time. But, finally, and I feel this is the best example- her final action before tearing Madoka from the heavens is becoming a witch to muck up Kyubey's data. Becoming a witch, despite knowing she may very well never see Madoka again. I feel like, if she wanted "Madoka" as opposed to Madoka's wellbeing, she would've, say, tried to make a deal with Kyubey. So, my personal take is that it was a selfless decision, but kind of like an overprotective parent- certainly not right, but done out of genuine good intent. So Homura _did_ do something wrong, but she's not evil. At the end of the day, though, my take on Homura is that she's not completely selfless nor selfish. She's morally gray but driven by primarily noble intent- and well, she's just an interesting character really.
