Love all this, but just to avoid confusing the kids: X Men '97 is NOT five years after the cartoon ended. The cartoon began in 1992 and ran for five seasons, each of which was another year, so S1-92, S2-93, S3-94, S4-95, S5-96, so the new show is set one year later from the ending, in 1997. @@DaveDTitan I'm not sure, the Marvel fandom doesn't say. Maybe something similar happened to Earth-534834's version of Juggernaut, or maybe something entirely different happened.
I still think Disney Plus should also do Spider-Man animated series from 1996 too because in the final episode Peter Parker/ Spider Man with Madame Web went on the search to find the real Mary Jane after that the series end with the cliffhanger, so I think Spider-Man animated series 1994 should be revived just like X-Men 97 so that the story continued on were the final episode of Spider-man animated Season 5 left off.
Spiderman was my favorite before X Men, I didn't know the Hulk show was unknown to fans, I think I liked it cause while other heros tricked or bamboozled their enemies, Hulk mostly fought big monsters........and She Hulk
The Avengers appeared in non-speaking roles on a few season two episodes of the FF cartoon (a few of the X-Men did as well). A poster of Captain America appeared during a flashback sequence in the Omega Red episode of X-Men: TAS.
*pushes glasses up* actually punisher does appear in X-men in non speaking roles but one of them was a mojo verse robot assuming his appearance. Nick fury also has a non-speaking cameo in x-men. Been doing a rewatch of x-men so it’s been a ride
According to the Marvel Database, it’s five universes; X-Men/Spider-Man (1), Iron Man/Fantastic Four/Hulk (2), Silver Surfer (3), Unlimited (4) and United They Stand (5). 🤷🏽♂️
I dont see why unlimited is cannon? I mean the show has a different cast. The high evolutionary is different in unlimited. High evolutionary appeared comic accurate in the x men cartoon.
You're just taking something straight forward and making it complicated. I was 10 when i statted watching these shows, and even then, i understood and accepted that they were all meant to take place in the same universe. Its not that complicated.
Here in Latin America, all of the 90s Marvel cartoons aired on Fox Kids. I was a big fan of the Spider-Man, X-Men and Hulk series, I only watch a bit of Iron-Man and I barely managed to watch some episodes of Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and Avengers I think those shows were my first introduction to a shared universe. Know that I think about it, if Spider-Man and Hulk would have a crossover back then, it'd have been weird hearing Peter and Bruce talk to each other since they were voiced by the same VA in the Neutral Spanish dub. That kind of reminds me that in the crossover between Spider-Man and The X-Men, only Wolverine and Storm were voiced by their original VAs in that dub, and that Silver Sulfer was dubbed in Venezuela while Avengers was dubbed in Chile, the rest of the 90s Marvel cartoons were dubbed in Mexico
Pretty cool video! I had a small debate recently with a fan who thinks that the X-men 92 cartoon stands completely on its own. I don’t agree with him but he was a very tough person to deal with, so I’m just letting him believe what he wants to. However it’s nice to find other people who agree with me about the connections between Spider-man and X-men. Also thanks for playing the Rogue and Spidey clip! I’ve always thought that they were cute together and thanks for sharing the joke about Iron man’s other 90s appearances which made me laugh a lot! Another fantastic video, dude!
@@Rexer-u6o Spider-Man Unlimited is in a branch timeline because we never see how he got Mary Jane after the show left us on a giant cliffhanger with Madam Webb taking Peter through another dimension on a search for her.

That discrepances mirrors the discrepancies the Marvel comics had back in the 60s. In june you could have Spider-Man dissappearing for one month without anyone knowing where the hell he is, then some days later he appears in a Fantastic Four comic as if nothing really happened, then in july he is found in his comics. Different creative teams, that's just it. And no one claimed there is a "Marvel Multiverse inside 616".
Recently watched the Secret Wars episodes of the Spider-Man 90's show and loved how they mixed the x-men, fantastic 4 and Captain America. Although in hindsight, Cap was a bad choice. In the episode they literally had giant sandworms and all Cap could do was hit them and say "This thing has it's own armour, it doesn't even feel my fist!" and had to be saved at every turn. I could not stop laughingggg, forgot how much I hated Cap before Chris Evans in Winter Soldier lolllll
Cap has always been a C-list character, until Chris Evans. Steve Rogers was never really a good character, and was(and still is) just Captain Propaganda
So I think a lot of these examples can be brushed off, since actors change VAs even within their shows (Magneto and Storm were practically volleyed back and forth), characters change looks all the time, and in fact the Hulk's nebulous nature is even part of the character's lore. It is a little strange they dropped Wanda's accent, though the show does state she comes from that part of the world. (The episode really is kind of weird in that she is just dropped into the show, with Wolverine apparently being familiar with her.) In the Spider-Man show, when they introduce Nick Fury, he is believed to be dead by the world at large, and SHIELD's endeavors top secret. However, as of Iron Man he seems to regularly walk in and out of Tony Stark's office. Now, as a weapons manufacturer, it's not completely out there he would be privy to top secret stuff, but Stark and Iron Man are treated like wild cards, and he doesn't seem to act like he has a big smoking gun over their heads. In the Iron Man show, when Stark and Banner meet for the first time, the latter seems to be familiar with the Leader, but I feel like when he's introduced on the Hulk show, Banner seems to be somewhat unfamiliar with him, (or not recognizing that he was Sterns). In my opinion the biggest discrepancy is Sasquatch. He appears in the second season of X-Men, as a member of Alpha Flight, and inferred to be a mutant, but is introduced in The Hulk cartoon as someone who has been treating himself with Gamma radiation and by the end of the episode has exiled himself to the wild. There's also something I overall call "The Avengers problem". The Avengers are name-dropped in the first episode of the Spider-Man, but Captain America is as of the events of the show, in stasis. (I believe he also doesn't know who Iron Man is at the time). He also mentions the Defenders, but is unfamiliar with Doctor Strange (But is familiar with the Hulk, who does not seem to have any association with any team and I believe meets the Doc for the first time.) It can probably be explained does raise questions on who the lineups of those teams are. We are actually shown a lineup of non-speaking Avengers in the introduction to an FF episode. The animation includes Vision, She-Hulk, Captain America, Goliath, Justice/Marvel Boy, Darkhawk and Speedball (never an Avenger in the comics!). I think maybe Hercules, but I know he was shown in a group shot in the finale episode. Iron Man is also considered a member. The big ones are Cap (who was in stasis at the time) and She-Hulk (who would get an origin in the Hulk show.) I guess to rationalize one would have to arrange episodes of various show in a chronology that doesn't match air dates, or write off silent cameos or pithy jokes.
16:14 Which is ironic, seeing how basically the whole reason behind Beyond existing was higher-ups wanted to have a teenage Batman to get Spidey's audience.
They are all in same universe the costume changes was because of comics! See the fantastic four come back after two seasons to spiderman animated to secret wars with hero reborn suits! Hulk look in iron man is the same in the comics too! Hulk vs Hulkbuster from comics! Look after Amazing Spiderman issue 382 and incredible hulk issue 401! :)
I hope that Disney and Marvel revives Iron Man Fantastic Four Spiderman and The Incredible Hulk animated series from the 90s soon because for me these are my favorite Best Marvel shows ever and i want all these shows be connected to Xmen 97 and have a true Secret Wars version with all the Avengers and Xmen just like in the storyline
Disney and Marvel Animation intend to expand it like the UCM but for the moment they are focusing on xmen97 and the possible continuation of Spiderman the animated series
For all I care, the inconsistencies are just bad character writing, voice actors recast and redesigns for no particular reason and they are all, indeed, from the same continuity/universe. I thought this video was gonna show some plot contradiction as in "how could the X character do that then when hey were supposed to be dead" or whatever.
I think you overcomplicated it....they're all in the same universe, and as you pointed out in a few occasions - sometimes their voices are re-cast. If a character appears in another show...it's the same character. But just like in comic books, sometimes the characters are written by different people, so different aspects of their personalities are on display. This video explains it all a little bit more succinctly: th-cam.com/video/34VBGob5kYQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=euOH2daDtnDVRink
16:00 Unlimited started production as an adaptation of the 1960s Spider-Man comics specifically the Dikto issues but due to Marvel's bankruptcy causing them to sell off movie rights, Saban lost the rights to everything except for the Spider-Man character albeit they could not use the classic costume and would have had to pay money to use the other characters so they only paid for Venom and Carnage and retooled everything to use the three characters to save on money. It then got retooled into a Spider-Man 2099 series before that idea got scrapped. So yeah lots of factors that were not Batman Beyond related
I think it's definitely safe to say that Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, and FF all take place in the same universe, and with Iron Man's integration into Incredible Hulk with same design meaning Hulk is most likely a part of it.
I personally don’t think having a different actor playing a character automatically means alternate universe. The MCU has done this before with multiple characters like Hulk and War Machine.
I will never understand how people review the Silver surfer cartoon as good. I considered it the most boring Marvel media ever. Although I do think it's hilarious how one episode they have drax pass out only to wake up to gasp with the crowd and then go back to passing out again. (I assume it's an animation error)
What about Ghost Rider appearing in Hulk, and Fantastic Four, both, I believe, voiced by Richard Grieco. Plus, I think that he also had a non-speaking cameo in X-Men, too.
I ask that all those series that were canceled or with an open ending come back, also that Captain America and Daredevil were going to have their own animated series, now is the time for them to have their own.
They made a lot of changes in voice actors because some of the recordings were done in Canada (take X-men) and some were recorded in America like Spider-Man
8:14 HAAAA! 😂 My first experience with multiversal shenanigans was Zelda: A Link to the Past (parallel worlds) followed by reruns of Star Trek T.O.S. (Mirror universe), so when I started seeing it in cartoons and movies, I was somewhat prepared.
6:46 the DCAU had crossovers between Static Shock and Justice League while both were on the air. Zeta Project and Batman Beyond while both were on the air, and STAS/TNBA had double the amount of crossovers you've stated. (World's Finest, Knight Time, Girl's Knight Out, and The Drmon Reborn). Do yall not have script checks?
Okay, so I know people don’t like Spider-Man Unlimited and Avengers: UTS that much. But I like them. If only for the “obscure Marvel deep dive” factor. Unlimited was drawing straight from obscure Marvel nonsense like the Knights of Wundagore and Machine Man. It’s why I wish there was a Marvel Team-Up show. So it could draw on random Marvel stuff every episode.
Too bad the MAU shows didn't have the same consistent writers as the DCAU did. Maybe then there'd be less continuity issues. Of course, the MAU shows were airing simultaneously, while most of the DCAU shows aired one at a time, so I guess it would've been too chaotic for the same MAU writers to be working on every show. Crazy how Fox Kids aired X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman TAS around the same time. These days you never see a Marvel and DC show airing on the same network since Disney owns Marvel now while WB has owned DC for decades.
The Best Marvel 90s Animated Universe is Spider Man the Animated Series it's the Most Relatable and it's my Favorite, I Hope it Comes back in the future like X Men 97.
I remeber the only that confused me back in the day (I guess also in xmen 97) Is cap. Like he shows up briefly in fantastic four, but in Spider-Man hes stuck in a time vortex, and in 97 he's just chilling with iron man. My favorite was probably always the fantastic four.

The mainline DC universe in the current incarnation of the DC multiverse, which is built upon the New 52 multiverse but has since been expanded to be infinite again, is Prime Earth or "Earth 0". Earth-One was the "main" universe in the Pre-Crisis multiverse, but Post-Crisis Pre-Flashpoint it was simply "New Earth", and could potentially also be considered the "Earth-0" of the Old 52 following Infinite Crisis and the 52 event, as there was an Earth-1 that was wholly separate from New Earth.
The Multiverse from every single comic book company is truly one of the greatest inventions of all time the age of heroes and another TV network channel was called Jetix
The same thing happened in the Disney Marvel shows. Spider man and the Avengers and the Agents of Smash where all in the same continuity. But in 2013 they brought the comic book versions of the Guardians of the Galaxy into the Spider man show. Then the movie came out. Then they made a Disney show off of the Movie versions of the Guardians. Then they crossed over with the Avengers. The same Avengers who had many cross overs with Spiderman who knew a different team of the Guardians.
Here’s my theory . Fantastic 4 and Spider-Man were set in different universes in the Marvel Animated Universe (1990s) In the Fantastic Four episode "Nightmare in Green", Scarlet Spider appears under an overhang watching Rick Jones and Human Torch fly by. This was because at the time of the series' production Ben was the primary Spider-Man and Peter was retired. However, this makes no sense within the Marvel Animated Universe as Ben never appeared in the primary universe, until “I Really, Really Hate Clones”. The logical explanation is that the Fantastic Four show is set in the same universe the Scarlet Spider comes from and subsequently the Peter Parker from the animated series has to save. I am aware that the Fantastic Four do appear in Secret Wars , but they could just be similar alternative versions. This also explains why Spider-Man wasn’t affected by the arrival of Galactus. Also their costumes are different.
Spiderman multiple spiderman was because of weird Multiversal stuff. What?? The whole thing had spiderman from other universes teaming up to stop Peter Parker that bonded with carnage. it literally is multiverse. it was the reason we have into the spiderverse.
If they do ever revive the 90s Spider-Man series I have what may or may not be such a good idea for it, they could have Flash Thompson become Toxin as a nod to Agent Venom in it.
Sadly X-Men '97 just made things even more confusing by showing that Eddie Brock still works at The Daily Bugle following the original series finale of X-Men despite becoming a supervillain in season one of the '90s Spider-Man series. Captain America is also set to make a reappearance before season one of X-Men '97 is over, so there very well may end up being contradictions between Spider-Man's depiction of his character and history and whatever happens in his next X-Men appearance.
False. The show starts on regular Earth and Venom, Carnage, and later Spider-man, go to Counter Earth. However the show is definitely not in the same continuity as the other Marvel shows. Especially the Spider-man cartoon (which ended with Spider-man discovering that he had married a clone of MJ, who subsequently disappeared through a portal--and scouring the multiverse to find his original MJ--while Unlimited begins with a happily married Peter and MJ who is clearly not a clone, nor missing).
AKtuaLly DC’s main universe exists as Earth 0 or Earth Prime. Earth One is a universe of books that include the label “Earth One”in the title that typically consist of stories involving each of the main heroes just starting out in their careers.
Post whatever reboot changed it (DC seemingly had one every few weeks for a while there), the main DC universe is actually 0. Also, Secret Wars (at least the first one, which is what was pictured when it's mentioned) had nothing to do with a multiverse (aside from The Beyonder coming from another universe). I feel like I should have begun this post with an "Um, actually"... Most of these issues really just sound like recasting and some artistic license/costume changes...
X-Men is the best one, but since we’re going with favorite that isn’t X-Men, I’m actually gonna say Silver Surfer. It’s a shame it was so short-lived. It is one of Marvel’s most criminally underrated projects, honestly.
Well, from that point i can say that Thanos in first Avengers post credit scene is a different character and not the same in Infinity War and Endgame.....
I just found avengers United on Disney plus and the very first thing i thought was "this is west Coast avengers!" The second thing i thought was "this sucks!"
I respectfully disagree, all the Marvel Cartoons of the 90’s take place in the same reality , Let’s call it the “fox kids” reality, whether they were on different networks UPN, doesn’t matter. It’s the same reality. The inconsistencies are due to the fact that each show had a different animation team and no cohesion took place during the crossover episodes, creating what appear to be variants, but…it’s all one reality. The Incredible Hulk animated series, each season had a different creative team, you can’t call that an alternate reality. Similarly, Xmen 97’s animation style is very different from the original Xmen TAS, 🤷♂️, same reality
You're over complicating this. X-men, Spider-man, Hulk, FF and Iron Man were all in the same continuity. You could throw in Spider-man Unlimited too as it references and shows flashbacks to the animated series. The continuity wasn't as tight as DC as it was more an after thought and all the Marvel shows had different creative forces. Some voice actors were re-cast within series yet you don't think season one of X-Men is a different universe because Storm had a different voice actress? Magneto and Gambit have both had three different voice actors in this X-Men continuity. In Secret Wars Human Torch actually was the same voice actor as in season 2 of the FF series. The Hulk series hadn't been finalized when his back door pilots were featured in Iron Man and FF so that's why he had a different actor.
I was born in 1996. I don't remember the UPN Kids block but I do remember Kids WB also static shock which for some reason you did not mention takes place in the DCAU alongside Batman Beyond and Batman animated series Justice League Superman The Animated Series
From my understanding it wasn't UPN but the "Marvel Action Hour" was on CBS. It featured Fantastic Four and Iron Man respectively. I actually remember my old video recordings with it showing commercial ads for Fresh Prince in it's prime time block very vividly. It's possible that UPN (who is owned by the same parent company as CBS) inherited rights somewhere down the line but originally it was CBS to my knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

@@ziljin So did I, but if you think about the inconsistencies between shows, it makes sense that their are multiple animated marvel universes.
You explain it really well, but the only contradiction would be the quick Easter egg from The fantastic four season two episode The in humans saga When Johnny and Crystal are Riding the air bike through the city And you see the juggernaut hand raising out of the water After he was thrown into the bay by gladiator in a prior X men episode.
A poster of Captain America appeared during a flashback sequence in the Omega Red episode of X-Men: TAS.
the avengers were also referenced in the first episode of spider-man the animated series.
*pushes glasses up* actually punisher does appear in X-men in non speaking roles but one of them was a mojo verse robot assuming his appearance. Nick fury also has a non-speaking cameo in x-men. Been doing a rewatch of x-men so it’s been a ride
Yeah and ghost rider.
@toomuch535 oh yeah. Ghost rider was actually in both x-men and fantastic four. He knocked out galactus if I recall correctly
@@nicholassmith5537he was in the Hulk series as well
And don't even get me started on Hydro-Man's inconsistencies from 'Spider-Man' to that episode of 'Fantastic Four'!
The 1994 Spider-Man and Fantastic Four cartoons are set in separate earths from each other.
@@Elvusmiw Unlimited is separate, though?
The Marvel Database is wrong though.

I was a big fan of the Spider-Man, X-Men and Hulk series, I only watch a bit of Iron-Man and I barely managed to watch some episodes of Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and Avengers
I think those shows were my first introduction to a shared universe.
I watched Ironman and fantastic four on ktla. The la station.
The hulk aired late in the morning on Sunday on upn I think.

What about Spider man Unlimited??
@@Rexer-u6o Spider-Man Unlimited is in a branch timeline because we never see how he got Mary Jane after the show left us on a giant
cliffhanger with Madam Webb taking Peter through another dimension on a search for her.
@@Rexer-u6o Plus we know that all 7 outta 8 share the same timeline while each of its characters are simultaneously all going off on their own adventures which sometimes allows for special cameos or team ups. Spider-Man Unlimited ignores the events taking place that the Marvel Studios Animated Universe as a whole which seems to be the case.
Lizard was there to replace Hulk because the actor was unavailable
Cap has always been a C-list character, until Chris Evans. Steve Rogers was never really a good character, and was(and still is) just Captain Propaganda
Nick Fury has a cameo in a episode of season 1 or 2 of X-Men with War Machine in a SHIELD ship
I remember watching all of these cartoons growing up. It was Awesome. I never cared if they match up or made sense. It just was fun to watch.
(The episode really is kind of weird in that she is just dropped into the show, with Wolverine apparently being familiar with her.)
In the Spider-Man show, when they introduce Nick Fury, he is believed to be dead by the world at large, and SHIELD's endeavors top secret.
While we're talking theme tunes, how about some love for the Iron Man season 2 intro? That is the most 90s ish ever committed to TV.
I think you overcomplicated it....they're all in the same universe, and as you pointed out in a few occasions - sometimes their voices are re-cast.
If a character appears in another show...it's the same character. But just like in comic books, sometimes the characters are written by different people, so different aspects of their personalities are on display.
This video explains it all a little bit more succinctly:
th-cam.com/video/34VBGob5kYQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=euOH2daDtnDVRink
Everyone talks about the x-men intro as being badass but the incredible hulk intro is the g.o.a.t.
I remember UPN smackdown used to come on UPN, then they merged with WB to become the CW
That was a fun trip down memory lane. Thanks for squaring that up for me. 🤘😎🤘
Also Ben Riley made an appearance of fantastic 4
Different characters, the Ben Reily in "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" is from a universe where New York is ravaged by his evil twin Spider-Carnage.
When Magnus presented Asteroid M at UN in Sanctuary , War Machine appeared for 2 consecutive seconds.
Pretty sure that terrible Avengers cartoon had Thor and Cap cameos, so whether you like it or not, you still gotta consider it.
you are making it more confusing than it should be
What about Silver Surfer in the King of the Hill promo?!? Where does that leave the multiverse????
That was just a promo, not meant to be taken seriously.
@@milesbradshaw6643 Twas a joke, good sir.
I’m just grateful I got to experience reruns even though they were incredibly out of order and randomly connected
They made a lot of changes in voice actors because some of the recordings were done in Canada (take X-men) and some were recorded in America like Spider-Man
Very insightful and well thought out thesis and video. And I agree.
Very well done 👏 ✔️ 👍🏽
They CAN all be the same universe, except for Silver Surfer 🫤
Scarlet Spider cameos on the Fantastic Four cartoon, adding further proof that its a separate universe from SM94.
unpopular opinion but my favorite show was hands down Spider-Man
8:14 HAAAA! 😂
My first experience with multiversal shenanigans was Zelda: A Link to the Past (parallel worlds) followed by reruns of Star Trek T.O.S.
The X-Men showed up in civilian clothing on a rooftop in Fantastic 4 cartoon. As did the Scarlet Spider.
So it could draw on random Marvel stuff every episode.
my favorite one was either x-men or spider-man
The symbiote was on shockers ass. 😂😂😂 he thought it was the old spiderman. Then spidey lost his shit 😂😂😂
Correction: Batman and Superman had 3 crossovers. Two on the Superman show, and one in The New Batman Adventures.
I remeber the only that confused me back in the day (I guess also in xmen 97) Is cap. Like he shows up briefly in fantastic four, but in Spider-Man hes stuck in a time vortex, and in 97 he's just chilling with iron man. My favorite was probably always the fantastic four.
This is a great video. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Why did thay make spiderman unlimited instead of just spiderman 2099
14:11 Punisher appeared as an android in xmen..but still kept the appearance same as he appeared in spider man
The Multiverse from every single comic book company is truly one of the greatest inventions of all time the age of heroes and another TV network channel was called Jetix
What Marvel vs Capcom named of universe will join Multiverse?
Here’s my theory .
Fantastic 4 and Spider-Man were set in different universes in the Marvel Animated Universe (1990s)
In the Fantastic Four episode "Nightmare in Green", Scarlet Spider appears under an overhang watching Rick Jones and Human Torch fly by.
0:31 I loved the Exiles comics. It was the first series I ever read from start to finish ^^
Just because they have different voice actors doesn't mean they are different versions.
Spider-Man Unlimited took place on Counter-Earth, not an AU earth.
The only real inconsistancy is the Hulk. Everything else seems to line up relatively well.
Wouldn't Venom just hate the Shocker because he'd be unusually vulnerable to his power?
It's been a while since I looked into this, but I remember The Nick Fury character in Iron Man wasn't Nick Fury by name but his story was .
I just found avengers United on Disney plus and the very first thing i thought was "this is west Coast avengers!"
The second thing i thought was "this sucks!"
Somewhere, Tommy Westphall just had a stroke.
Dear video editors: please run interlaced footage through a deinterlacing filter
The Avengers animated series and Spider-Man Unlimited are not on the same earth, Unlimited is definitely not a continuation of Spider-Man TAS.
@@aranha6169 true, true, but at the very least Spidey and Xmen TAS were the same reality
@@aranha6169 Neither is Silver Surfer TAS.
Idc, growing up with these kick ass shows. I still believe this was our MCU before there was ever even an MCU period
Rocking that Ultra Seven shirt 😆💯🔥
Honestly i figured X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Fantastic Four and Hulk were part of the MAU=Marvel animated universe
