The way I see it; Now that there's a multiverse, there's multiple TVA's with their own sacred timelines they monitor. Loki was sent to the wrong one and is now stuck in another universe.
Simple way to describe it guys. A main wire(line) with many wires within it that is kept separate of other main lines. What Sylvie did was split the main lines and crossed all the internal wiring. She literally crossed the stream.
It’s legitimately terrifying that this man signal handedly destroyed a multiverse, bend time and space to his will, enslaved all life, ended free will, killed armies of himself aka gods, and straight calls himself the devil. Yet he’s the best there is and there are versions he calls evil.

Jonathan Majors is magnetic. He was almost just monologuing this whole episode and I couldn’t take my eyes off the tv. And very subtle ticks, you can tell his character is manic from a lack of rest.
But isnt he already a better version of himself as well? Twice now he has done the right thing. Saving the Asgardians and trying to kill Thanos, now trying to stop his female self from breaking the timeline. They are going to need his help in this, they will be dealing with endless versions of a mad genius, Strange and Wanda cant do it on their own, especially unstable Wanda.

These 2 are apart by only a handful of years. And he did see his life if he didn't steal the tasseract. That's not smth one can just forget. I love how this reaction ends with just “fuck!” And from my understanding, this version of Nathaniel Richards is closest to Immortus…I’m just gonna call him Kang. Personally, I loved Majors performance from beginning to end, however, I cant begrudge for feeling the way ya’ll did. Not that you guys were negative about it, just not as glowing as I had hoped. Being a great actor doesn't mean you can pull everything off. Majors was great in Lovecraft Country, but the last thing he demonstrated in that show was range. He's going to do a way better job playing the real Kang instead of some weirdo. That's a better match for him and his strengths as an actor.

In the comics, Kang the Conqerour used to be Nathaniel Richards, a descendant of Reed Richards from the 31st century. After he learned about time travel and the Multiverse he went mad with power and became Kang the Conqerour. So this basically sets up the rest of the MCU and even the Fantastic Four.
The thing I was not expecting to be the best about this show, was the dialogue scenes, the best parts are when the characters are just sitting around talking.
Jonathan Majors had me stunned. I was convinced it would be some kind of King Loki twist, and I'm still not quite comprehending the whole twist. What a great season, can't wait for Season 2!

I think the reason why Sylvie got pruned(her Nexus event) is because when she was playing with her toys in Asgard she was making up a scenario where she wanted to save Asgard. She was playing with a Valkyrie toy and Lokis aren't supposed to want to save Asgard.

Everyone confused on timelines and multiverses, I have your answers here: So the multiverse does exist and always will exist, you can’t get rid of that, you can only control how those different universes may connect or come in contact with one another. And that is what the sacred timeline is. Kang is the only one with access to the multiverse through his control of the one timeline. These universes are ever growing and branching out, but with Alioth’s harnessed power, Kang can clip these branches wherever he sees fit, so they dont grow out of control to the point of threatening the sacred timeline. And he does all of this to ensure an evil Kang (or anyone for that matter) never threatens the multiverse again. But, once Sylvie killed the puppet master, there is now no one to stop the multiverse from falling into its inevitable and ever longing madness. Entropy.

I actually disagree with this take. He who remains eliminated the multiverse through his victories over all other Kang variants. He eliminated everything besides the timeline that was home to himself to prevent any other kang variant from forming. If you never have any diversions from one plan, you never can have a multiverse because there's no timeline of another decision. Limit everything down to one straight shot path that leads to you being born and being in power, and that's it. So technically, from my understanding the multiverse did once exist, but since it was fully eliminated when all branching paths were destroyed it technically never did exist until the threshold, and that only happened because kang wanted it to. And if a kang variant ever gets into the same seat of power again, my assumption is that the multiverse would cease to exist. This is why he who remains was so okay with the threshold, because he didn't want to be empowered anymore but yet he knew that if things didn't go the way that he wanted a variant of his would just take the wheel in the end again. (He's probably betting that his variant from the future will.)
I think your description of the sacred timeline is pretty spot on, but I do see it a little different. Right, there is not a single timeline in this series (the "MCU") and all the others have been pruned or destroyed. There IS a multiverse in this series, but all those timelines have been modified by "He" to direct events to create (or rather prevent) a possible outcome, and the combination of all those various timelines has created one single cohesive sequence of events taking place across many universes in order to reach his perfect, safe scenario - that is the "sacred" timeline.

I don’t think it was Sylvie being a girl that made her branch; maybe it was just her being on a good trajectory to not be a villain. Her parents had already told her she wasn’t adopted, so she never harbored that anger or resentment towards Odin or other Asgardians like we’ve seen the main Loki go through, possibly taking her off the villains journey, so to speak.
Being a girl made a branch. As long as there is a branch there is a Kang who conquers. How small or big it is as long as it deviates from sacred timeline it must be pruned. That's how the story works.
@@renz5960 But why didn't the TVA come in right when Sylvie was born, at the point where her gender was revealed and changed things (not much but still) from the sacred timeline? Seems like it takes more than someone stepping on the wrong butterfly to get the TVA's attention so maybe it's just depends on degrees of difference. The gender difference probably contributed to the branch but the morality thing with her toys was the point that tipped over to the point to catch the TVA's attention.

@@renz5960 if being a girl made the branch, then she would have been pruned since birth, or transforming into a girl. The multiverse always existed, but Kang manipulated each universe to follow the same events. That's why there also Loki variants with different faces and different races.
The female Loki and alligator Lokis were variants from birth. But they weren't pruned until their actions were disruptive enough to cause a branch timeline. Then they're pruned. Young Loki wasn't a variant until he killed Thor because that action was so disruptive that it caused a branch timeline.
Maybe Alligator Loki used to be human but got turned into an animal, similar to how Thor got turned into a frog. Either that or in his universe asgardians are just animals for whatever reason.
Alligator Loki could have been a normal Loki that turned himself into an alligator, like how he turned into a snake to prank Thor, but he became a Variant the moment he couldn't change back to regular Loki. Similar to how old Classic Loki was able to live unpruned until he grew old because he isolated himself, allowing the events of Infinity War and Endgame etc. to go unchanged, but he became the Variant the moment he decided to go find Thor.

Guys you are getting confused and forgetting that Sylvie and Aligator Loki are variants of LOKI. They look different but they are Lokis, the got pruned not because of the way they look but because of their actions. Sylvie as a child was playing a game where she wanted to save Asgard, it's implied she wants to be a hero, not a villain. And the Loki in our timeline HAS to be a villain, hence her being pruned. It's about the actions not how they look. OUR timeline Loki could have been Sylvie for all Kang cared, she simply had to act the way she was supposed to, but she didn't, hence her being pruned. Her version on the sacred timeline is the Loki we know that dies in Endgame, she's a Loki! I know it's easy to forget lol.

The One Who Remains is essentially Marvel’s Rick Sanchez. There are an endless amount of him that are all narcissistic and powerful that discover interdimensional travel.
So is thanos’s defeat something that the tva wanted? Because now that they have no control there could be other realities in which thanos wins. There could even be a reality when thanos concours time it’s self. But that’s why the tva makes sure that the avengers go back in time and defeat him so that doesn’t happen. This ties into my theory that the TVA (or maybe now multiple tva’s) where made by Kang to stop anyone from usurp his position as the ruler of time itself.

Stand and applaud for Jonathan “I’m the coolest guy in a room filled with Loki’s” Majors. I still wish we could’ve seen Owen Wilson on a jet ski screaming WOW at the top of his lungs but hopefully they put that in for season 2! Also with the addition of Loki Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is now gonna be the biggest “stand alone” MCU movie since Civil War
My theory for where Renslayer went is that she went to find a variant of Kang to give him all the information and resources he’d need to conquer the timeline with her by his side
Some people seem very confused about the ending, here’s what I interpreted based off of all the information we have so far lol - 1.) Yes we meet Kang in this episode but not Kang the Conquerer because this is not the evil version of Kang that Conquers shit 2.) Loki did not enter a TV from a different Timeline because the TVA doesn’t belong to a time line of universe it exists outside of time which means there can’t be multiple TVA’s just the one. 3.) The reason Mobius and B-15 don’t remember Loki is because when Sylvie killed Kang or “He Who Remains”, she altered the past, present and future meaning everything we’ve seen so far technically hasn’t happened now. 4.) The reason the TVA was still effected even if it didn’t belong to a time line or time doesn’t even exist there is because the TVA was still something created because of the timelines and because the past, present, and future were changed the creation of the TVA was also changed making this an essentially new TVA but the same TVA
That scene with Loki and Sylvie was right up there for me with Stark dying(although nothing will top it). It was epic, I was gutted for Loki. He is one of my favorite characters and to see him being happy with Sylvie and growing as a character.... then having to beg Sylvie to hear him and then being betrayed....SO gutted!
The thing about Sylvie not being pruned when she was young is that we know the TVA only notices nexus events once they start introducing notable changes, for example Classic Loki wasn’t pruned the moment he survived his encounter with Thanos but rather once he attempted to interact with other people It’s theoretically possible that for the first ten or so years of Sylvie’s life her being a girl didn’t cause too much deviation from Loki’s regular life
Yes true and true. Its the action that matters, not the appearance/personality/abilities. The moment Sylvie was 10 that's when she deviated from Loki's regular life (a.k.a Loki from Sacred Timeline).

There was a multiverse eons ago and Kang, the scientist, figured out how to access it and found out there were good and bad versions of Kang which caused a multiversal war between all of the Kangs. This Kang found Alioth and weaponized him and used him to win the war and end the other versions of himself.. Kang put Alioth in the void, which is outside of space and time. He created the TVA in order to send any variants, which were created whenever there was a nexus event, to the void outside of space and time for Alioth to consume and dispose of them and the TVA would cleanse that alternate timeline before it could create a new multiverse. Now that that Kang was killed and the TVA knows the truth, there is nothing and no one to keep the multiverse from being created once again.. And just as this Kang stated, the other Kangs found each other once again and a different Kang, most likely Kang The Conqueror, has created the TVA again and thats the TVA Loki was tossed into by Sylvie..
Majors was incredible. Had me gripped during all his dialogue. You gotta keep in mind that this isn’t Kang “the Conqueror.” This is another version (or Variant if you will) of him simply named “He Who Remains” (in the comics Kang and He Who Remains are completely different characters, but I really liked this combination of the two. Kept us guessing the whole series). The Kang most fans are familiar with is coming. That was made very clear in this episode. This was a fantastic initial introduction by Majors. Cannot wait to see him fully embrace the role of “Kang the Conqueror” in future films.
Majors' performance was excellent. I loved that a character who so obsessed with keeping timelines in perfect harmony and order is so random and chaotic in person. The laughing robots when Sylvie cut the head off of one is very fitting now. Fearing not Loki or Sylvie, but rather himself. After an eternity, the thrill and joy of finally living a moment where he doesn't know what will happen next. Great stuff. Seeing him as Kang in the movies instead of Immortus will be amazing.
in his timeline, he created a time machine and returned to the beginning of time to create a TVA, which means that a TVA exists throughout the entire time ... hence the next conclusion - as soon as a new timeline is created - it ALREADY has a TVA and its own Kang which means that each timeline already has its own Kang with an army of soldiers in TVA
But if each timeline/universe has its own TVA, why did they never encounter one another? Like why did our Mobius never encounter the other Mobius at the end of the episode? God. This is so confusing. The multiverse idea, that I can understand. But the way they explain it.. I can't comprehend.
the tva is outside the timeline though. its different because after killing kang, the timelines have changed meaning everything we have seen hasd not happened
I wouldn’t say a new timeLINE is created. The main strand of time is an interwoven thread of many timelines, and those individual timelines can have a variant branch off of that, and that can be branched off, and so on and so on. Then when time ends, the cycle is born anew and a new set of timelines begins, a timeverse if you will. The initial timeverse ends in chaos as Kang and Alioth devastated the spacetime continuum. Then they move to the beginning of the NEXT timeverse and guide it to the path that won’t lead to him bringing chaos, until Sylvie breaks it all to pieces, and the multiverse fully opens. GOD this shit is complicated.
I don't think He Who Remains ever had a choice. He had to always prune the "Sacred Timeline" into whatever shape prevents more variants of himself coming into existence. He got fed up, saw a branch where the Lori's showed up, and he could stop doing the job. So he let them come. Just like the Ancient One from the Doctor Strange movie, he saw a timeliness where rather than see the end of time, he saw that he might die. And after eons, that was just much more interesting, than caretaking all of the cosmos, always, for all time.
The thing that everyone is mistaking is that this is less about “time” and more about the quantum physics of multiple planes of existence. It’s metaphysics. Even with “time travel”, it’s the rules of quantum physics; it is a flat plane folded over to allow the crossing. We stay put while the flat ring of time is folded to our fixed point. 🤯

I kind of just took the fact that it took so long for the TVA to come for Sylvie was because young male Loki and her didn't really differ from their actions up until that point, meaning gender had little to do with their actions up till then.The point she was taken she was enacting a fantasy of a heroic valkyrie so maybe Sylvie began to have aspirations to be a valkyrie (like Thor did in Ragnarok except this was actually an option for Sylvie) and become more heroic to the point where she radically branched her line.
20:00 remember everyone in the TVA is variant and if you remember they show’d sort of like a huge city in the TVA in episode 1 maybe the ones that get past the judge gets to live in the TVA the rest get pruned and their entire reality gets swallowed the only reason there’s a bunch of Loki’s left is because their will to survive

Perhaps a good way of thinking of the sacred timeline is as a multicore cable - it contains several timelines with 'within standards' variations between each one. One where Loki was born female but is in every other way the same. Another where Loki faked his death and no one ever found out. It's only when they branch too much that they get pruned.
I think the destroyed statue was for kingstu I hope that's how its spelt. A type of repair mostly done to pottery but could also be done to others if you had the resource. You put the pieces together and glue them together with gold. It has a very similar aesthetic to he who remains castle
He's gonna be amazing in Phase 4!! Although they weren't on screen together, we got a mini Lovecraft Country reunion with B-15 (Ruby) and Atticus now in the MCU.

Kang literally implies that he’s the most dangerous person in the cosmos, a mad scientist that knows how to do things no one els does. Now that the “good” Kang was killed, the only others who remain are the bad. But the timeline that Sylvie is in will be hunted by Kang along with every hero. Good Kang kept all those timelines in check. If you think about it, since good Kang won the war already he’s the most superior. But Sylvie took things personal ….
I wouldn't say all the Kangs will be bad. Technically, this Kang that just died will be reborn somewhere in the Multiverse. I also think we're bound to get the Iron Lad variant to form the Young Avengers to take down a bad variant of Kang

Rewatching before starting the new season. And the multiverse timeline thing always confused me a bit. But now I'm just going with: there is a multiverse where infinite possibilities play out. After winning the time war He Who Remains selected one timeline as the sacred one and that's the one where he won the war and now keeps everything in check. The multiverse is multiversing as long as nothing happens to the point that it touches and changes the sacred timeline (which again is the one where HWR is the one pulling all the strings). Everything could be a nexus event threatening the timeline because maybe me eating a sandwich instead of going out to a restaurant changes that the food that would have given me food poisoning now goes to a dude who then can't go to work the next day so his colleague steps in for him and she can't go to the meeting she was supposed to go where now someone else has the room to make a suggestion that will change where the company is investing which makes it possible that etc etc and at the end a variant of Kang would be in a different position and HWR would not win so the time war would keep going etc. Butterfly effect. Great analogy. I don't know why but this just started a bit confusing to me now. Did the multiverse already exist all along but HWR keep them in check (by isolating his timeline) to avoid the emergence of his 'evil' variants? Because he specifically said "isolated the timeline", not "eliminated all other timelines". Meaning other timelines exist outside the isolation. And technically we already have the proof of the multiverse. America Chavez is able to jump into other universes, and we've got Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man. Dang, we even have the Council of Kangs now. That proves it, right. OR Is there only one timeline/universe? Because in the TVA, we've seen many times in the monitor that there is only a single line of the timeline (the Sacred Timeline) and it could branch. Even all the branches originated from the Sacred Timeline. Meaning the multiverse does not exist all along. OR Am I all this time confusing timelines and universes?
Okay I just got off from MCU Fandom Wiki. And turns out I was 'kinda' confusing timelines and universes, and also the multiverse existed all along. To quote from the page, "The Sacred Timeline was the term designated to the collection of realities that were isolated after the Multiversal War by He Who Remains. These realities shared the same baseline despite being different from one another as they all only led to the birth of He Who Remains and thus, prevented the birth of any evil variants of him. Therefore, the Sacred Timeline followed a strict script, which meant their inhabitants did not truly have free will since, if their choices caused a branch within the Sacred Timeline that deviated from the sacred path, the Time Variance Authority would arrive to prune it. These divergences were referred to as Nexus Events. The TVA had to prune those branches before they reached a certain point of no return, since after that, the timelines could not be reset and the Multiverse would spiral into chaos. However, the TVA would allow for alternate realities to exist as long as these did not deviate from the baseline and thus generate the slightest chance of a new evil variant of He Who Remains being born. Once the Multiversal War was brought to an end, He Who Remains isolated a certain collection of realities from the rest of the Multiverse, like if they were an island completely hidden from everyone. The realities he chose followed the same baseline, they all led to the birth of himself and only him, no other variants would be born from it. I feel like Female Loki could exist until she was "so" old because it didn't matter yet. She might have followed the same exact life and choices of a male Loki, and it only started to really diverge when she was that old. _Or_ Well, if we believe what The One Who Remains said, he might have taken that long to warn the TVA about her because he knew it was the perfect age for her: old enough to manage to escape the TVA, young enough that this would be enough of a traumatic event for her to dedicate her life to find him. He maybe didn't want to _die,_ but he clearly felt like it was okay to die or retire, so he was willing to manipulate someone into finding him
In her flashback she was playing with a valkyrie toy, and pretended that she was saving Asgard. Which likely meant that she was going to grow up and be an actual good person so that's probably her nexus event
Yeah, based off the graph they keep showing and how it has those lines above and below the timeline, I'm guessing they're fine with some small branches appearing, and they'll only take action when they actually reach that Nexus point of having too much divergence from the Sacred Timeline. That's how crazy things like the Alligator Loki are somehow allowed to go on for a while until they have their Nexus event, in which case the TVA comes to prune the branch.
I'll just add, that in the comics, versions of him did have the ability to transfer his mind to a different body. So, his, "see you soon" might be quite literal.
@@xenfast130 which makes a fkton of sense because if you think about truly random things like radioactive decay, if the TVA pruned _literally everything_ that doesn't follow the path, they'd have an infinite number of timelines branching out at every given second. It's still crazy that they can do this job when you cut it down to just big personal choices made by sentient creatures, but at least it's more believable than them destroying anything that doesn't follow a single path

Had chills the whole time. Jonathan Majors right out of the gate has me hooked. Was hoping for that jet ski moment but hopefully down the road. Show didn't disappoint and Season 2 confirmed. Bring on Multiverse!
It was super subtle, but right at the beginning, we heard the clear opening of the final Swan Lake act (they also previously used foreshadowing ballet music in this series) in which the princess who was plagued by a sorcerer goes up against him with her prince, killing the sorcerer. It may be a long shot, but I am pretty sure that is why the music was included!
The timeline didn’t change. Loki is in another universe, another “TVA” ruled by Kang, the other version of the Nathaniel Richards he met. Being that they are crossed the threshold, the multiverse is accessible there through Nathaniel’s tempad, Sylvie didn’t realize she was sending him to another universe.
I think there is still one TVA and it was altered because the multiverse now exists.. would be dumb to have many timelines each with a TVA who then would war over "hey don't kill our timeline we are protecting ours" and.. would make the TVA useless if each branch is allowed to exist..

I’m saying that this TVA is from an entirely different universe not branched from the primary timeline, hence multiverse. That’s how the Primary universe’s Immortus kept Kang from breaching his universe, the different branches weakened the walls of his universe, because it collided with branches from other universes allowing threats such as Kang to breach the walls of reality and attempt to conquer the primary one.
@@BaconNuke based on what Kang/He who Remains/Immortus was saying about the origins of the multiversal war, it sounds like the writers/or marvel head writers for future MCU projects, are heavily borrowing from the plot of Jonathan Hickman’s run on the Fantastic Four comic. Reed Richards met with other Reeds from other universes, but most of them turned out to be conquerors who sought to eliminate or control other universes to their will. So it seems they’re applying this plot and replacing Reed with Kang. Which is very clever for a cool concept villain.
Nice catch on the kintsugi/broken and rebuilt castle being reflective of the broken and rebuilt timeline. This was an interesting way to introduce Kang to the MCU. It's like a sneak peek of sorts, the one we'll see in Quantumania will be a different version of him, so I imagine they'll still work to introduce the character properly. I think they'll still want to avoid people feeling lost if they haven't seen every ounce of Marvel content.
Unrelated but Tom Hiddleston said in an interview that he got to play Loki and was “on set” of something doing so for his 40th bday… His 40th bday was way after Loki the series wrapped filming so i’m gonna guess he’s referring to multiverse of madness and was working on that film at the time….

I reckon if you think of the"sacred timeline" as a rope and each strand that makes up that rope is a different universe that makes up that timeline. So the sacred timeline is made up of multiple universes governed under one timeline. They all follow the timeline that Kang controls for each one. A Nexus event occurs when something happens that could eventually lead a version of Kang that discovers how to traverse across universes. Lets say the "red line" is the point in which a timeline leads to that timelines Kang making that discovery. So they have to prune it before that to stop a Kang from making that discovery. In short what Kang has set up the TVA to do is police a multiverse of timelines where he ensures his versions never discover how to cross between universes and this removes the possibility of any "bad ones" trying to Conquer other universes.
My thought is that when the Avengers went back in time for the stones they created branches in the timeline, but then Cap went back and returned each one to where they got it, ultimately almost pruning those branches themselves. But when Loki took the Tesseract, he made a branch reality that the Time Keepers had to respond too. But the timeline the Avengers fixed is the one where Loki gets arrested. So they both exist because of that branch. It’s a mind bender for sure and I’m probably wrong but.

The way I see it; Now that there's a multiverse, there's multiple TVA's with their own sacred timelines they monitor. Loki was sent to the wrong one and is now stuck in another universe.

Being a great actor doesn't mean you can pull everything off. Majors was great in Lovecraft Country, but the last thing he demonstrated in that show was range. He's going to do a way better job playing the real Kang instead of some weirdo. That's a better match for him and his strengths as an actor.

I think the reason why Sylvie got pruned(her Nexus event) is because when she was playing with her toys in Asgard she was making up a scenario where she wanted to save Asgard. She was playing with a Valkyrie toy and Lokis aren't supposed to want to save Asgard.
She was the most different Loki. She was a Loki that wasn't acting like other Loki's.
She got hunted/pruned because it's all part of the script. The most elaborate script for a single job interview.

Everyone confused on timelines and multiverses, I have your answers here:
So the multiverse does exist and always will exist, you can’t get rid of that, you can only control how those different universes may connect or come in contact with one another. And that is what the sacred timeline is. Kang is the only one with access to the multiverse through his control of the one timeline. These universes are ever growing and branching out, but with Alioth’s harnessed power, Kang can clip these branches wherever he sees fit, so they dont grow out of control to the point of threatening the sacred timeline. And he does all of this to ensure an evil Kang (or anyone for that matter) never threatens the multiverse again. But, once Sylvie killed the puppet master, there is now no one to stop the multiverse from falling into its inevitable and ever longing madness. Entropy.

Yeah right, it's like the Sacred Timeline is keeping the multiverse intact. The branches will just make everything worse, if it's not fixed immediately.
I actually disagree with this take. He who remains eliminated the multiverse through his victories over all other Kang variants. He eliminated everything besides the timeline that was home to himself to prevent any other kang variant from forming. If you never have any diversions from one plan, you never can have a multiverse because there's no timeline of another decision. Limit everything down to one straight shot path that leads to you being born and being in power, and that's it. So technically, from my understanding the multiverse did once exist, but since it was fully eliminated when all branching paths were destroyed it technically never did exist until the threshold, and that only happened because kang wanted it to. And if a kang variant ever gets into the same seat of power again, my assumption is that the multiverse would cease to exist. This is why he who remains was so okay with the threshold, because he didn't want to be empowered anymore but yet he knew that if things didn't go the way that he wanted a variant of his would just take the wheel in the end again. (He's probably betting that his variant from the future will.)
I think your description of the sacred timeline is pretty spot on, but I do see it a little different. Right, there is not a single timeline in this series (the "MCU") and all the others have been pruned or destroyed. There IS a multiverse in this series, but all those timelines have been modified by "He" to direct events to create (or rather prevent) a possible outcome, and the combination of all those various timelines has created one single cohesive sequence of events taking place across many universes in order to reach his perfect, safe scenario - that is the "sacred" timeline.

I don’t think it was Sylvie being a girl that made her branch; maybe it was just her being on a good trajectory to not be a villain. Her parents had already told her she wasn’t adopted, so she never harbored that anger or resentment towards Odin or other Asgardians like we’ve seen the main Loki go through, possibly taking her off the villains journey, so to speak.
Being a girl made a branch. As long as there is a branch there is a Kang who conquers. How small or big it is as long as it deviates from sacred timeline it must be pruned. That's how the story works.
@@renz5960 But why didn't the TVA come in right when Sylvie was born, at the point where her gender was revealed and changed things (not much but still) from the sacred timeline? Seems like it takes more than someone stepping on the wrong butterfly to get the TVA's attention so maybe it's just depends on degrees of difference. The gender difference probably contributed to the branch but the morality thing with her toys was the point that tipped over to the point to catch the TVA's attention.

Alligator Loki could have been a normal Loki that turned himself into an alligator, like how he turned into a snake to prank Thor, but he became a Variant the moment he couldn't change back to regular Loki.
Similar to how old Classic Loki was able to live unpruned until he grew old because he isolated himself, allowing the events of Infinity War and Endgame etc. to go unchanged, but he became the Variant the moment he decided to go find Thor.

Guys you are getting confused and forgetting that Sylvie and Aligator Loki are variants of LOKI. They look different but they are Lokis, the got pruned not because of the way they look but because of their actions. Sylvie as a child was playing a game where she wanted to save Asgard, it's implied she wants to be a hero, not a villain. And the Loki in our timeline HAS to be a villain, hence her being pruned. It's about the actions not how they look. OUR timeline Loki could have been Sylvie for all Kang cared, she simply had to act the way she was supposed to, but she didn't, hence her being pruned. Her version on the sacred timeline is the Loki we know that dies in Endgame, she's a Loki! I know it's easy to forget lol.

This ties into my theory that the TVA (or maybe now multiple tva’s) where made by Kang to stop anyone from usurp his position as the ruler of time itself.

My theory for where Renslayer went is that she went to find a variant of Kang to give him all the information and resources he’d need to conquer the timeline with her by his side
Some people seem very confused about the ending, here’s what I interpreted based off of all the information we have so far lol

1.) Yes we meet Kang in this episode but not Kang the Conquerer because this is not the evil version of Kang that Conquers shit
2.) Loki did not enter a TV from a different Timeline because the TVA doesn’t belong to a time line of universe it exists outside of time which means there can’t be multiple TVA’s just the one.
3.) The reason Mobius and B-15 don’t remember Loki is because when Sylvie killed Kang or “He Who Remains”, she altered the past, present and future meaning everything we’ve seen so far technically hasn’t happened now.
4.) The reason the TVA was still effected even if it didn’t belong to a time line or time doesn’t even exist there is because the TVA was still something created because of the timelines and because the past, present, and future were changed the creation of the TVA was also changed making this an essentially new TVA but the same TVA

That scene with Loki and Sylvie was right up there for me with Stark dying(although nothing will top it). It was epic, I was gutted for Loki. He is one of my favorite characters and to see him being happy with Sylvie and growing as a character.... then having to beg Sylvie to hear him and then being betrayed....SO gutted!
The thing about Sylvie not being pruned when she was young is that we know the TVA only notices nexus events once they start introducing notable changes, for example Classic Loki wasn’t pruned the moment he survived his encounter with Thanos but rather once he attempted to interact with other people
It’s theoretically possible that for the first ten or so years of Sylvie’s life her being a girl didn’t cause too much deviation from Loki’s regular life

Secondly it depends on how long he was an alligator, Loki is a shapeshifter so it’s entirely possible he turned himself into an alligator as a prank, got stuck that way and eating a cat was just the first time it was noticeable to the TVA
There was a multiverse eons ago and Kang, the scientist, figured out how to access it and found out there were good and bad versions of Kang which caused a multiversal war between all of the Kangs. This Kang found Alioth and weaponized him and used him to win the war and end the other versions of himself.. Kang put Alioth in the void, which is outside of space and time. He created the TVA in order to send any variants, which were created whenever there was a nexus event, to the void outside of space and time for Alioth to consume and dispose of them and the TVA would cleanse that alternate timeline before it could create a new multiverse. Now that that Kang was killed and the TVA knows the truth, there is nothing and no one to keep the multiverse from being created once again.. And just as this Kang stated, the other Kangs found each other once again and a different Kang, most likely Kang The Conqueror, has created the TVA again and thats the TVA Loki was tossed into by Sylvie..

Majors was incredible. Had me gripped during all his dialogue. You gotta keep in mind that this isn’t Kang “the Conqueror.” This is another version (or Variant if you will) of him simply named “He Who Remains” (in the comics Kang and He Who Remains are completely different characters, but I really liked this combination of the two. Kept us guessing the whole series). The Kang most fans are familiar with is coming. That was made very clear in this episode. This was a fantastic initial introduction by Majors. Cannot wait to see him fully embrace the role of “Kang the Conqueror” in future films.
Majors' performance was excellent. I loved that a character who so obsessed with keeping timelines in perfect harmony and order is so random and chaotic in person. The laughing robots when Sylvie cut the head off of one is very fitting now. Fearing not Loki or Sylvie, but rather himself. After an eternity, the thrill and joy of finally living a moment where he doesn't know what will happen next. Great stuff. Seeing him as Kang in the movies instead of Immortus will be amazing.
in his timeline, he created a time machine and returned to the beginning of time to create a TVA, which means that a TVA exists throughout the entire time ... hence the next conclusion - as soon as a new timeline is created - it ALREADY has a TVA and its own Kang

I wouldn’t say a new timeLINE is created. The main strand of time is an interwoven thread of many timelines, and those individual timelines can have a variant branch off of that, and that can be branched off, and so on and so on.
Then when time ends, the cycle is born anew and a new set of timelines begins, a timeverse if you will. The initial timeverse ends in chaos as Kang and Alioth devastated the spacetime continuum. Then they move to the beginning of the NEXT timeverse and guide it to the path that won’t lead to him bringing chaos, until Sylvie breaks it all to pieces, and the multiverse fully opens.

I don't think He Who Remains ever had a choice. He had to always prune the "Sacred Timeline" into whatever shape prevents more variants of himself coming into existence. He got fed up, saw a branch where the Lori's showed up, and he could stop doing the job. So he let them come. Just like the Ancient One from the Doctor Strange movie, he saw a timeliness where rather than see the end of time, he saw that he might die. And after eons, that was just much more interesting, than caretaking all of the cosmos, always, for all time.

I kind of just took the fact that it took so long for the TVA to come for Sylvie was because young male Loki and her didn't really differ from their actions up until that point, meaning gender had little to do with their actions up till then.The point she was taken she was enacting a fantasy of a heroic valkyrie so maybe Sylvie began to have aspirations to be a valkyrie (like Thor did in Ragnarok except this was actually an option for Sylvie) and become more heroic to the point where she radically branched her line.

Perhaps a good way of thinking of the sacred timeline is as a multicore cable - it contains several timelines with 'within standards' variations between each one. One where Loki was born female but is in every other way the same. Another where Loki faked his death and no one ever found out. It's only when they branch too much that they get pruned.
I think the destroyed statue was for kingstu I hope that's how its spelt. A type of repair mostly done to pottery but could also be done to others if you had the resource. You put the pieces together and glue them together with gold. It has a very similar aesthetic to he who remains castle

Kang literally implies that he’s the most dangerous person in the cosmos, a mad scientist that knows how to do things no one els does. Now that the “good” Kang was killed, the only others who remain are the bad. But the timeline that Sylvie is in will be hunted by Kang along with every hero. Good Kang kept all those timelines in check. If you think about it, since good Kang won the war already he’s the most superior. But Sylvie took things personal ….
I wouldn't say all the Kangs will be bad. Technically, this Kang that just died will be reborn somewhere in the Multiverse. I also think we're bound to get the Iron Lad variant to form the Young Avengers to take down a bad variant of Kang

Rewatching before starting the new season. And the multiverse timeline thing always confused me a bit. But now I'm just going with:
there is a multiverse where infinite possibilities play out. After winning the time war He Who Remains selected one timeline as the sacred one and that's the one where he won the war and now keeps everything in check. The multiverse is multiversing as long as nothing happens to the point that it touches and changes the sacred timeline (which again is the one where HWR is the one pulling all the strings). Everything could be a nexus event threatening the timeline because maybe me eating a sandwich instead of going out to a restaurant changes that the food that would have given me food poisoning now goes to a dude who then can't go to work the next day so his colleague steps in for him and she can't go to the meeting she was supposed to go where now someone else has the room to make a suggestion that will change where the company is investing which makes it possible that etc etc and at the end a variant of Kang would be in a different position and HWR would not win so the time war would keep going etc. Butterfly effect.
If that would be bad or good at this point remained a mystery. Also good or bad for who. But we're about to find out just how much this fucked shit up.
Can't wait to check out what's coming next. Really live the MCU and all the shows just bring so much texture to an already interesting and colorful canvas. Did the multiverse already exist all along but HWR keep them in check (by isolating his timeline) to avoid the emergence of his 'evil' variants? Because he specifically said "isolated the timeline", not "eliminated all other timelines". Meaning other timelines exist outside the isolation. And technically we already have the proof of the multiverse. America Chavez is able to jump into other universes, and we've got Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man. Dang, we even have the Council of Kangs now. That proves it, right.

Is there only one timeline/universe? Because in the TVA, we've seen many times in the monitor that there is only a single line of the timeline (the Sacred Timeline) and it could branch. Even all the branches originated from the Sacred Timeline. Meaning the multiverse does not exist all along.

Okay I just got off from MCU Fandom Wiki. And turns out I was 'kinda' confusing timelines and universes, and also the multiverse existed all along. To quote from the page,
"The Sacred Timeline was the term designated to the collection of realities that were isolated after the Multiversal War by He Who Remains. These realities shared the same baseline despite being different from one another as they all only led to the birth of He Who Remains and thus, prevented the birth of any evil variants of him.
Therefore, the Sacred Timeline followed a strict script, which meant their inhabitants did not truly have free will since, if their choices caused a branch within the Sacred Timeline that deviated from the sacred path, the Time Variance Authority would arrive to prune it. These divergences were referred to as Nexus Events. The TVA had to prune those branches before they reached a certain point of no return, since after that, the timelines could not be reset and the Multiverse would spiral into chaos. However, the TVA would allow for alternate realities to exist as long as these did not deviate from the baseline and thus generate the slightest chance of a new evil variant of He Who Remains being born.

I feel like Female Loki could exist until she was "so" old because it didn't matter yet. She might have followed the same exact life and choices of a male Loki, and it only started to really diverge when she was that old.

Well, if we believe what The One Who Remains said, he might have taken that long to warn the TVA about her because he knew it was the perfect age for her: old enough to manage to escape the TVA, young enough that this would be enough of a traumatic event for her to dedicate her life to find him. He maybe didn't want to _die,_ but he clearly felt like it was okay to die or retire, so he was willing to manipulate someone into finding him
In her flashback she was playing with a valkyrie toy, and pretended that she was saving Asgard. Which likely meant that she was going to grow up and be an actual good person so that's probably her nexus event
Yeah, based off the graph they keep showing and how it has those lines above and below the timeline, I'm guessing they're fine with some small branches appearing, and they'll only take action when they actually reach that Nexus point of having too much divergence from the Sacred Timeline. That's how crazy things like the Alligator Loki are somehow allowed to go on for a while until they have their Nexus event, in which case the TVA comes to prune the branch.
I'll just add, that in the comics, versions of him did have the ability to transfer his mind to a different body. So, his, "see you soon" might be quite literal.

Had chills the whole time. Jonathan Majors right out of the gate has me hooked. Was hoping for that jet ski moment but hopefully down the road. Show didn't disappoint and Season 2 confirmed. Bring on Multiverse!
It was super subtle, but right at the beginning, we heard the clear opening of the final Swan Lake act (they also previously used foreshadowing ballet music in this series) in which the princess who was plagued by a sorcerer goes up against him with her prince, killing the sorcerer. It may be a long shot, but I am pretty sure that is why the music was included!

The timeline didn’t change. Loki is in another universe, another “TVA” ruled by Kang, the other version of the Nathaniel Richards he met. Being that they are crossed the threshold, the multiverse is accessible there through Nathaniel’s tempad, Sylvie didn’t realize she was sending him to another universe.
I think there is still one TVA and it was altered because the multiverse now exists.. would be dumb to have many timelines each with a TVA who then would war over "hey don't kill our timeline we are protecting ours" and.. would make the TVA useless if each branch is allowed to exist..
@@BaconNuke The concept of different branches mean timelines stemming from one universe. I’m saying that this TVA is from an entirely different universe not branched from the primary timeline, hence multiverse. That’s how the Primary universe’s Immortus kept Kang from breaching his universe, the different branches weakened the walls of his universe, because it collided with branches from other universes allowing threats such as Kang to breach the walls of reality and attempt to conquer the primary one.
@@44briggs Who tf is Immortus and if you are talking comic origins then those may not matter since the MCU has been doing it's own thing for awhile..

@@BaconNuke based on what Kang/He who Remains/Immortus was saying about the origins of the multiversal war, it sounds like the writers/or marvel head writers for future MCU projects, are heavily borrowing from the plot of Jonathan Hickman’s run on the Fantastic Four comic. Reed Richards met with other Reeds from other universes, but most of them turned out to be conquerors who sought to eliminate or control other universes to their will. So it seems they’re applying this plot and replacing Reed with Kang. Which is very clever for a cool concept villain.
Nice catch on the kintsugi/broken and rebuilt castle being reflective of the broken and rebuilt timeline.
This was an interesting way to introduce Kang to the MCU. It's like a sneak peek of sorts, the one we'll see in Quantumania will be a different version of him, so I imagine they'll still work to introduce the character properly. I think they'll still want to avoid people feeling lost if they haven't seen every ounce of Marvel content.
What about Tom Hiddleston? He was amazing through the whole show.
Unrelated but Tom Hiddleston said in an interview that he got to play Loki and was “on set” of something doing so for his 40th bday… His 40th bday was way after Loki the series wrapped filming so i’m gonna guess he’s referring to multiverse of madness and was working on that film at the time….

in the beginning, when it has all the background quotes after the intro, you can hear ‘fur elise’ on the piano which is the main theme in the Morbius trailer!
I reckon if you think of the"sacred timeline" as a rope and each strand that makes up that rope is a different universe that makes up that timeline. So the sacred timeline is made up of multiple universes governed under one timeline. They all follow the timeline that Kang controls for each one. A Nexus event occurs when something happens that could eventually lead a version of Kang that discovers how to traverse across universes.
Lets say the "red line" is the point in which a timeline leads to that timelines Kang making that discovery. So they have to prune it before that to stop a Kang from making that discovery.
In short what Kang has set up the TVA to do is police a multiverse of timelines where he ensures his versions never discover how to cross between universes and this removes the possibility of any "bad ones" trying to Conquer other universes.

My thought is that when the Avengers went back in time for the stones they created branches in the timeline, but then Cap went back and returned each one to where they got it, ultimately almost pruning those branches themselves. But when Loki took the Tesseract, he made a branch reality that the Time Keepers had to respond too. But the timeline the Avengers fixed is the one where Loki gets arrested. So they both exist because of that branch. It’s a mind bender for sure and I’m probably wrong but.

I was so hypnotized by Jonathan Majors during this episode.... its basically one big exposition dump which they say never do and yet he was so good i didn't even notice, i watched his parts 3 times!
