0-60 in 3.5 to 4 seconds. 1/4 mile in about 12.5 seconds. The 650 is only "slow" compared to exotic cars or 600cc/1000cc bikes. Compared to 95% of the vehicles on the road it's fast.
I’ve been riding for 10+ years and picked up a 2017 ninja 650 a few months ago. One of the best full fairing sport bikes for the street, the 42lbs it lost from the previous generation makes all the difference
I have a 2009 650r that I bought brand new. Love the bike, hate the vibration. I wish was 3 cylinder they have a lot less vibration. But overall it does an amazing job, I've done long trip and does good. Easy to maneuver, just hard on the engine vibration.
Idk why but I feel uncomfortable on the 650 seat. It’s hard to find the right seating position. My 250 had a large tank that was easy to grip with my knees. There’s nothing to grab on the 650 so I find myself getting thrown around when engine braking.
I know I probably won’t get a reply in time, but a friend of my mom’s is selling a 2010 for about $3500 with around 7k miles (I think) and in excellent condition. Would that be a good/okay price for it? (Granted she loves the bike still and her partner is trying to get her to sell it because they’re starting a family) I’ll be taking a look at it next weekend (there is a chance I might not buy it right away, just to see if there’s better options, like the Ninja 400 for example). I’m also a beginner and am curious if this is a good beginner bike. My only concern though is the weight (which I don’t know). I’m currently 5’1 and don’t have much upper body strength (however I am willing to change that if I love the bike enough). For reference though, the friend is also short at about 5’3 and has already lowered it.
Why not get a Ninja 300 (2013-2017)? I still have one. It's light, very flickable, cheap, reliable, awesome in the city, enough power to hold 70-75mph on the highway with ease. You'd get a newer, lighter bike for 3k no problem.
I'm still thinking on it so ill look into that. Currently my top consideration is a truck camper rv that sits in the bed, then I could pull a mobile garage (enclosed trailer) for all my bikes.
72 brake, 66 NM - 0-60 in 3.5 - 120 top There's nothing slow about the 650, unless you're used to supersports, but then again touring on a supersport is masochist territory
Very good review, I do like the bike and the change, I kinda would of liked more like dirt bike handlebars, but it looks like the handlebars are a lot better than the sport bikes 👍
I used to have an 09 and meh, I thought it was OK. I traded it in for a 2008 Honda CBR 600RR in 2012. But I don't have it anymore. And were you on marshall st/east river road by 694? Haha! YES! You were on Marshall lol. I thought I recognized the area. I saw betty dangers lol. You weren't too far from me. I live less than 8 miles from there. We should definitely go riding sometime man!
Not at all you dont hafta even check valves till 24000 miles, typical bike is around 10000. Might need wearables but the guts are super solid on these bikes.
The year would be the factor, a 2009-2015 a good peice would be about 2800-3000. If its a newer gen which i think it 2016 and up 3800 could be appropriate.

Man that's one of the best bike review I've seen on the ninja 650
My cousin is offering me his 2009 Ninja 650R with 10,000 miles for $1,000. I come from dual sports like you; i’m sold!
Great review
Someone who actually knows and expresses themselves, in depth, very well

RockChalkPhX im.sure those 42lbs make a night and day difference, id be curious to ride a new one
Pretty much what took it from small sport tourer to small sport bike.
@@mindspinn311 when did they make the weight change? I’m picking up a 2009 ninja 650r today
@@Vallavanat 2017
I have an older one and I love it honestly

How reliable has it been and how many miles you got on it?

Great review man, it's hard to watch you not lanesplitting writing from California.
It's also hard to watch these Mid-Westers drone along on flat, straight road for a whole review. Writing from Scotland.
Hey Guys does the ninja 2009 and Ninja 2011 have the same engine and cyclinder heads?
Something similar it would be the Suzuki Gsx-650f, basically a suzuki bandit with efi and fairing
Believe it or not, the oil change interval is actually 7,500 miles. That blew my mind for a motorcycle.
That's not what it says in the owner's manual
@@ddrum757 it's what mine says, oil and spark plugs every 7,500 miles
@@dblackviper2k3 very strange - I’ve got the er6f (European ninja 650r) if that makes a difference.

I dig this new purchase! No mountain passes for this one, but that's what the KLR is for!
True North Bus sadly ditched the klr but another off roader is in the works, gunna downsize the collection tho this year to save for an rv

Is $2600 for a 2011 650R with 2,000 miles good? I can’t tell if it’s too good to be true.
That wouldn't be too good to be true, but not far off. Sounds like a good deal if there's no issues.
Is 9000 miles on the bike a lot looking at one right now?

Bought mine with 6000, it has 38,000 now
