this is exactly the the type of comments I need to see haha. I'm seriously considering the same I just dunno about comfort and practicality. I just do a lot of highway riding and the 650 revs super high for it
Nice comparison. I like that you mentioned the weight leaning forward on your hands, to the 636 clip on grips making steering a bit more of a challenge to keep that weight off the grips with your back strength, versus the more comfortable and practical street riding position of the Ninja 650, which is my preference too, as I probably will never visit a race track to race my bike. Thanks, enjoy!
I got a 636 instead of a 650 because of this video when it was on the kanomoto channel. I don't regret the purchase. It's so stable and sharp on them winding roads.
Good video bro. Part of me wishes I bought the ZX6R but I'm definitely happy with my Ninja 650. I think I'm keeping the 650 regardless. The Yoshimura Alpha full exhaust made a big difference and once I get the ECU flashed it's gonna be awesome. That 4 cyl scream is really so much better sounding though 🔥 I don't think I would buy an R1 ever, when I'm ready to step up in power, I would go with the MT10 before an R1. Same engine, tuned differently and you get that lower rpm grunt and amazing torque. Idk though, I'm definitely a Kawasaki fan so we'll see.
I got a 650 for my first bike. I like to take corners fast with it (fast for me) and I want to start going to the track. I am probably going to sell my 650 for 636. I see a lot of reviews but no one ever talks about suspension. Zx 6r has fully adjustable suspension to alllow calibrating as your riding skill gets better. The 650 has no adjustability in the front and very limited adjustability in the back. I don't think suspension will be a huge thing if you are just street riding. With hazards you cannot push the bike safely like on a track.
Hit the track on a ZX6R and the difference becomes extremely noticeable. The small pull races don't do the ZX6R justice in this video. Start that race with both bikes at 8-10K RPM and take it to red line (also utilize the quick shifter), and the ZX6R will run away from it. The bike gets its legs around 8-10 and it becomes a rocket ship. Great video tho, I enjoyed it
What are the prices in your countries? I mean ninja650 for me is 7k euros.. ZX6R is 12k euros. So I wonder why everyone is comparing them if the prices are so distant?
I love your videos man. I currently rock the Ninja 400, hoping to upgrade to the 650, but seeing this, it's a 51/49 ratio here, help me out, I ride atleast 3 times a week, I do have a scooter for daily and grocery use. I'm 5'3 btw haha but I'm used to riding big bikes and even bigger than mine, biggest one I ride was the YZF-R6 2018 which was fun and cool but I have a heart for Kawasaki. Is it cool if I come by there someday? Meet the both of you, try out both of the two bikes and get my honest opinion and set my next bike? I'm in Manila Sta Cruz btw, anyways great video man
good of you to compare both side by side.. but you missed a couple of things.. the ability to throw them into corners and the ease of pulling out of those.. 636 is racetrack oriented as against the 650 which is a sports tourer.. Also, maybe i missed it but you did initially say the 636 feels similar to 650 when riding.. maybe your 650 is modded to suit the race track.. i found the 650 riding position to be way more comfortable then the 636 (obviously) and also that the 650 is way more forgiving when it came to going heavy on the throttle.. the 636 is scary that ways..
I started riding a bike on the 650 3 years ago. Last year I switched my bike and bought myself a 636. Why? In my perspective the 650 had not enough power. The riding style is completely different and I personally love the 636-riding style! Much more aggressive than the 650 but not completely racetrack-focused like an R6. I also drove the 636 on long distances (2 days on the bike) and you really can drive like 600km without any problems. By the way I’m 1.93m tall. To summarize everything: Very comfortable for a sportsbike, enough power, would buy it again ;)
From someone who has been riding for 15 years, commuting and been on race tracks.. Yes and No both (assuming you are an absolute noob at biking).. if your idea of a beginner bike is to look cool.. fat rear tire.. sound of an inline V4 and pure sheer acceleration to show off then YES.. If you want to be safe, learn how to ride properly.. learn cornering (its a different fun world) then No.. ZX6R is way way more powerful for most people (Even for intermediate riders).. you wont be able to do the bike justice PERIOD.. it's an amazing bike and very easy to get carried away and make a mistake with it..
hmmm, I will have to disagree with this comment a bit, I think it would be fine as a starter bike. Many people learn on fast bikes, I have a friend that learned on a Hayabusa. You just have to keep safety in mind while you are learning. A good teacher and some self discipline and you'll be fine. I hate the idea of buying a bike and outgrowing it right away.
@@JosephMyLife honestly, this is a discussion where crates of beer would vanish down the belly with no end in site :D. I like to stick with the riding intent mapped to the right bike and go from there. Straight line, wind in the hair high speed fun -- Cruisers.. or go naked bikes.. There's a reason he put those raised clip-on on that bike his back hated the stock ones. It does not have any more power than your bike till it hits the band that's way up there like sportbike and your bike seamed to have a smile on your friend face riding your bike. Personally for the 600cc/700cc class bike prefer the Yamaha CP2 MT07 engine and bike. Power band every were and some people put the same clip-on he has on the 636 on the MT07.
