    Man- this is a great video. Thanks for posting. I had a battery mishap and blew my main fuse on my starter solenoid, replaced that, and decided to clean my air filter while I'm at it. Thanks for posting!

    Awesome instructional video. I've seen some other vids but this is by far the most informative step by step video. Thx for sharing. I think I'll change the air filter myself this weekend instead of bringing it the shop.

    Hello. Thanks for the tutorial! Swapped out my 10 yr old filter for a performance filter. Riding clean!

    Thanks for your video. Managed to get the tank off and filter clean relatively quick. It went much easier than i expected. My only difference was that my gas tank only had 3 lines coming off of it rather than 5 on my 07 650 :S

      HyperTechnical I think he had two more lines because it is the California model. They have really high emissions standards. I have an 08 and it had three connections to the tank.

    from what i know, the oil helps to trap and keep the dirt particles better than a dry filter itself.

    I get the idea of having it saturated in motor oil, but what about pros and cons? Wouldn't putting a clean & dry filter be better?

      Sorry for responding so late. You will get a little bit of fuel spillage, but not too much. Just have a rag or old-shirt ready to soak up the fuel.

    How often do you clean the air filter? That filter was dirtier than that pair of underpants, GREAT VIDEO BTW

    • @kentrlau
      @kentrlau  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd think every 6 months would be pretty reasonable, depending on the conditions you ride in. Underpants also work great for waxing!

    Thanks for the video! Quick question, does the fuel tank need to be completely empty before removing it? I don't want to find out the hard way by disconnecting everything and having gas run all over my bike.

    • @kentrlau
      @kentrlau  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't need to have a completely empty tank, but having most of the fuel gone will make lifting the tank and overall job easier due to less weight. There is no risk of having gas run out unless you completely flip the tank upside down. Sorry for the late reply!

      How lazy can you get, I'd rather save the money, plus you save even more time by not going to get a new filter, or waiting for it to arrive. Although I'm fitting a new one myself lol, and it's much more expensive :) but it is a DNA performance filter to compliment the Scorpion end can I'm fitting.

    • @MrGeoffois
      @MrGeoffois 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HalfdeadRider Yeah I can't see how spending 10 min to oil the filter, and 20 min to clean it took more time than driving to the store buying it and driving back unless the store is next door hehe.

      I think so, mine was oily when it came out. I did some research and people did it for this bike. Not sure about others though

      @josephhauser4400 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nvm jus saw the comment below, but do you think this would help if my bike won't hit top sppeed? It tops out at about 80 mph with the throttle fully cranked and is very jerky like it gets some power for a second

    • @kentlau9117
      @kentlau9117 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it doesn't have to be, but the decreased weight surely makes the job a lot easier!

    • @kentlau9117
      @kentlau9117 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joseph Hauser this is an inexpensive procedure so I'd definitely try it first. if u have clogged or dirty fuel filter, that can also cause low power
