Fewer and fewer Americans are aware of the true meaning of the word 'butcher'. Butchering is a skill, a craft of turning carcasses into cuts of meat which can be prepared to their full potential, according to the anatomy of the animal, which muscles are tougher and need to be cooked differently, etc. Slaughtering is the process of killing the animal, bleeding, and gutting it to prepare it for butchering.
Generally, humans slaughter animals much more humanely that this would happen in nature - after a chase or ambush by predators, that bite their hamstring tendons, and/or suffocate them with bites to the throat and/or bleed them through bites, etc. It is not unusual for wild predators to rip open the guts of their prey and begin to consume the visceral organs while the animal is still alive. Based on the nerves and sensitivity of the gut, this is likely to be far more painful than even having a paw cut off, which is NO EXCUSE, but watching few wildlife documentaries can help put things into perspective.
In the USA, it is claimed that a huge number of dogs and cats are poisoned to death and their meat burned to get rid of it each year, at shelters. It is called 'euthanasia', but injections of poison and incinerating the carcasses is what is actually done - while children in 3rd world nations go hungry, are malnourished, or even die of starvation, sometimes in countries where dog meat is an accepted food. Who is being cruel to whom?
(No one really knows how many dogs and cats are destroyed at shelters and pounds each year, as the numbers are extrapolated from self reported numbers on a voluntary survey sent to a sample of shelters and pounds about 10 years ago. In some areas of the US, usually larger cities, puppies and kittens have to brought in to shelters from rural areas, sometimes 500-1,000 miles or more, to meet the demand. Or even imported from other countries. In many areas of the USA, feral cat populations, and many owned cats and small dogs, are being lost to coyotes and other predators. In cities where outdoor cats have been eliminated, rat populations have exploded. It seems that humans don't learn from history.)

As soon as I get my ranch I will get dogs from his meat market trade rescue and Tia Torres ( Pit Bulls and Parolees). Everyday I am one step closer to getting my ranch.

Hard as it is for most of us Americans to take, the problem is not that other cultures eat different animals than we do - while some avoid eating animals we regularly consume, like cattle. The issue here is abuse. The idea that inflicting unnecessary pain on the animals will somehow make the meat taste better is... groundless. The reverse is more likely to be true, if there is any difference at all.
Jefferdaughter the reverse is actually fully true, take a look at how well the Kobe beef cows are treated and how great the marbling in the beef is and why it’s an $90 steak!
It's not even just the abuse. There's also zero regulations on the health of the dogs in meat markets, they're often taken straight off the streets to slaughter. Obviously it's bad for the dogs, but it's also very dangerous for the uneducated people who eat the meat and often contract serious or even fatal disease. I always hear "them eating dogs is no different than us eating cattle" but there is literally no comparison.
Cesasar could really make a difference if he could help all the time with those dogs from Asia... the world would love him forever...

oh yeah, this ABC dog saving hero in Asia actually took the money, got the dogs and left them in the middle of no where, then got himself famous. This person makes me sick. if you wanna meet real heroes ask the local Chinese volunteers, nobody knows about them, no body heard about them and they are saving dogs, stoping trucks with stolen dogs everyday and some of them even sold their homes for the dogs. Shocking right, the truth of life is always behind the scene.

I know it is most difficult for many to accept, but inhabitants of other nations DO consume dog meat in the same way other animals such as cattle, sheep, pigs, deer, etc., are consumed in the USA! I have heard of Americans who keep pot belly pigs and chickens as household pets! My late husband and I were friends of a couple who kept a turkey as a pet inside their homes along with their children! And what do the majority of Americans eat on Thanksgiving Day----TURKEYS!!! Besides, in poor countries, dog meat is the only meat some of those people get a chance to eat!
jayonnaj18 when I hear they are hanging any animal, cutting parts of it off while it's still alive and beating it so it'll taste better... I know we are dealing with a flawed moral system. It's less about what kind of animal and more about cruelty. People who do that to any living thing are flawed people. In developed parts of the world, we kill what we eat as quick as possible. We don't subscribe to retarded folklore and superstition about torture to improve taste.
Although I love dogs and would never eat them myself ; it is not their consumption that bothers me. It is the way they are treated and tortured up until they die. Whether dogs are food or not is a cultural issue. I can live with the fact that other cultures see dogs as food. But the torture of them to make them taste better is unacceptable.

since I am unable to watch the bad parts in Asia..I thought I would pose this question: How do myths like this take hold ? Speaking of animal abuse and the thinking that harming dogs makes them taste better? I sincerely mean this, how can people believe this crazy stupid crap? How ignorant. I hear about beliefs in different countries all the time that are straight up ignorant. I know my country thinks of animals in a whole different way but I cannot imagine how they do this.
I agree. Why would anyone want to eat dogs to begin with? They are meat eating predators and there are higher chances of getting deadly bacteria from dog meat, than from the grass eating prey animals. The torture just adds to the insanity. It needs to stop.
The torture just reinforces how ignorant the people are. I have seen dogs before being butchered and they really do torture them the really believe the adrenaline rush in the now terrified dogs makes the meat tastier I remember one dog in particular, they must have hung that dog on a backyard tree 5 times while whipping him it was very hard to watch.
I know this is mean but the money spent on flying those dogs from South Korea and Vet bills they could have potentially saved dozens if not hundreds of dogs elsewhere in Asia.
