- Dog bites can happen for a lot of reasons, from a puppy in the teething stage nipping you to an attack by a strange dog on the street. A lot of times dogs can even bite those that are closest to you creating a disconnect in your relationship. In this limited series, Cesar Millan helps health & fitness instructor Rrayyme and her boyfriend Nathan with a common issue pet parents have regarding dog aggression and dog's biting.
Ara is a rescue who has been attacking her owner’s boyfriend. She is a perfect dog when her owner, Rrayyme, is around, but when Nathan, her boyfriend, enters the equation it’s a whole different story. Ara shows aggressive and over protective behaviors. Nathan hasn’t touched Ara in 5 months. Rrayyme and Nathan are at an impasse and don’t know what to do. Let’s see if Cesar Can Solve the Case.

Not really. He said he works with mostly shelter dogs/abused dogs and men are usually the ones who abuse dogs the most so a scared dog will bite. I've been bitten plenty of times myself.

Ok, I take it back about Caesar’s graciousness only being this for the dogs sake. Cesar is so intelligent and so intuitive and caring that he knows if this guy can pick up any of the wisdom he’s trying to teach him… It will help the guys life all around. I apologize for lacking so much, Grace, but I’ve had this type of alpha male in my life and watched him destroy so many relationships with people and pets because it was always about him and what made him happy and what made him angry. To this day, his almost grown children are still afraid of him.

The dude is a douche, but humans are just like animals and sometimes it seems Cesar disregards that. If a dog had been previously kicked by a horse, it would not trust horses. It would lead ir to think horses are aggressive.
Which although that may seem dumb, its actually an evolutionary commonality between really any animal with any intelligence. Its what keeps u alive in the wild when. U have to learn on ur own what will and won't hurt u. We are the only animals that can try to overcome that. But it is a reasonable instinct.

Interestingly, i was thinking the same thing...She is a very frightened and nervous dog, but just a little time, she was willing to work with Ceaser which means she din have human aggression problem. But sometimes, dogs just feel. Especially GSDs

I used to watch Cesar on The Dog Whisperer, it seemed to me that most of the time, it was the "owners" that needed the correcting, not the dogs.

In case anyone was wondering the dog was rehomed about a year later with a few trainers in the LA area. The dog deserved a better home and the owners succeeded in finding that

He did a good job at the end, being there and following instructions shows already shows willingness, the dog noticed and accepted him.
I feel like he does want to learn, but he was disappointed he couldn't make progress with her on his own. It looked to me like he felt neglected by her and needed to get over that. Good of him for taking on the challenge! She's not neglecting him, just the energy he was sending wasn't right for her.
It's very hard to admit you made a mistake and learn. It's normal to be defensive. Cesar was general with him, and he was humble enough to not react defensively, but to learn

I do like how this episode is more drawn out and genuine as opposed to the typical "reality tv show" format with quick cuts and dramatic music. It really represents everyone's body language and responses much better than trying to foreshadow something that would entice a reaction from the audience or try to keep you engaged by simulating drama of some sort.

Sometimes people are naturally sensitive, sometimes people can be naturally tough. Lessons like these help to remind me, you can show a soft side, and showing that softer side doesn't mean you're weak. In fact it is the opposite. Sometimes when life is tough on you and that 'worked' for u, you think the same thing applied to others will work out well too. But sometimes tough love isn't always the key, and hopefully he learned how to be more soft and sensitive. I have a feeling, even though he was acting macho and wearing sunglasses, towards the end he was feeling emotional about the progress, but hiding it. I wish them well on their journey.

I honestly feel like he was fed up with working with the dog for so long the best way he knew how and not getting any results. It's gotta hurt when all you wanna do is help and love a dog and the dog isn't responding, or because what you're doing isn't good enough for that particular dog. I think the boyfriend might've just been exhausted with the entire situation and didn't know what else he could do. If I had a rescue dog and I was trying to get them to a place where they felt comfortable around me and in their home with me, and it wasn't working no matter what method I tried, I'm sure I would feel awful like I failed the dog.

It’s so interesting to see that the dog is not really the one that needed the training. I think the guy with the glasses would have been very surprised but also a bit embarrassed by this. Just raise your energy and vibe man, she is sensing your vibe and she’s terrified by it.

He seemed jealous and bitter that the dog bonded with her and that his previous experiences weren't helping him. People view all aggression as the same, but when the core emotions aren't identified you don't know the right techniques. He may have been used to aggressive bully dogs who need to be put into their place and learn to calm down. Their dog was afraid of him, and he probably used the same techniques and made her go from afraid to terrified thus defending herself and running from him. It's hard sometimes to bond when we dont feel loved by pets, but we have to be the ones to stay calm and work through our emotions before they can learn to work through theirs! Hope he chills out more and reduces his angry alpha energy

The dog is not innately flawed, it probably had a horrible experience with men and doesn't trust them. I'm sure him training solo would have worked too but it seemed like this guy wasn't fully into it and wasn't taking in what cesar was telling him to do. I always loved watching your videos and then to hear your motivation was to help the dogs noone wanted, is the same way I have always felt. The rescues get more challenging but thanks to you, one learns that no dog is too difficult to rescue. Just not to give up on them because they may not want to show it but they need a friend so much,
