Although possibly not Soonest™ as I'm going back to Saint Petersburg to re-record some of the lines, in particular the terribly flat "Fire, Fire, Fire!" and I'll hopefully be able to sneak some more Jinglisms in.

And if that communication contradicts what you expect(like, "we have sunk a cruiser" when it is in fact a destroyer) you subconsciously write off a cruiser instead of the actual target. Ofc, your conscious self will quickly tell you "nah, that was a destroyer, right?", but in the heat of battle, when engaging multiple targets, that distraction/delay might be enough to bring you out of focus or might get you killed. There is a reason why game designers make clear UIs and communication within their games. Also, if you dont listen to what your captain says most of the time, it should not really matter what Jingles say to you anyway.

For a voice pack like this, a little monotone is better in the long term over a more... exuberant performance, shall we say. Mostly because you hear these voice snippets so many times that if they're not relatively neutral, they start getting old really quick.

@@Fable148 To be more specific, "dakka" is the in-game onomatopoeia (sound effect) for Ork weapons, something they have recognized. They have a continuous quest to bring the most firepower possible to the battlefield, which they simply term "more dakka!"

Did WG restrain you from making your own quotes? Some of them are oddly off from your character. All the out of character quotes are critical statements that require immediate actions.
Ummm the voice sounds very very underwhelming.. But the one or 2 voices of paddling someone and sounding of the enemy team doing something dumb were the only things that made me giggle.. But othervthen thatvwas hoping Wargaming would let you say your own lines..
The thing is though, they need the communication to be clear and understandable. If it was done "the Jingles way", he would be half laughing and mumbling through his lines, and while that is charming, it might make it difficult get clear intel/feedback from the game. Also, I believe Jingles tried to make it sound as authentic as possible. With a few of his classics added.

Fire fire fire is the actual royal naval langauge used in a fire, so I suppose that's the idea? It is usually followed by the compartment of the fire though, so IDK
I mean, the game doesn't model fires by compartment, so It would be weird to add specificity that the mechanics don't back up. It is also not just the Royal Navy that uses that phrase. Most ocean going vessels use it.

I don't think poor Jingles got the support he needed in St. Petersburg. They really went to the minimum effort with that recording. Volume distortions one line, the next sounds like he's miles away from the mic. As someone else has said, it sounds like he did the voiceover inside a cupboard. More takes were needed, I fear.

Also, Jingles would probably want some level of authenticity. It is actually really fun when you think about it. A serious ship captain suddenly proclaiming "That's a paddlin" or "The enemy are winning. Hopefully they will do something stupid". Who else would do that but Jingles? :)
Whenever a ship sinks, he should give that distinctive Jingles gut laugh. My aunt doesn't even speak English and she loves it when I watch Jingles just so she can hear his laugh.

The game UI and callouts still need to be helpful and functional to a basic level. It is part of a system and some of the lines don't have much leeway to change without being useless to those that don't know the jokes. (Very few tbh but they exist)

I don't think poor Jingles got the support he needed in St. Petersburg. They really went to the minimum effort with that recording. Volume distortions one line, the next sounds like he's miles away from the mic. As someone else has said, it sounds like he did the voiceover inside a cupboard. More takes were needed, I fear.

He's identifying ships correctly! This is in no way, shape, or form, realistic!
Captain Jingles has a identifier book on deck, he's not going just by eye and trying to remember.

It is actually really fun when you think about it. A serious ship captain suddenly proclaiming "That's a paddlin" or "The enemy are winning. Hopefully they will do something stupid". Who else would do that but Jingles? :)

The game UI and callouts still need to be helpful and functional to a basic level. It is part of a system and some of the lines don't have much leeway to change without being useless to those that don't know the jokes. (Very few tbh but they exist)
