when I was first learning the game, I would ask my son, who got me into it, about the ships I was up against. so the first time I came across a Benham, I asked him "How many torpedoes does the Benham have?" He answered, "All of them. It has ALL the torpedoes." "Oh . . ." LOL
Thanks for putting us in one of your vids! Little lifelong dream of mine. Was definitley a few hairy moments...I was screaming at Choke not to charge the Jager but all i got back was "Nah pretty sure hes DC'd". Funnily enough we had a mate who had been in a 3 ship Div that had been DC'ing all day with us and was trying to fix his net when this game happened otherwise it would have been a 3 torp boat Div... Fun times indeed when the MM gives you a matchup like that.
You 2 are rtrded btw, and this video is the proof of it. Seems like Jingles really doesn't care about the quality of gameplay anymore. It was nothing special, it was about who is more rtrded. And Benham is OP as Fck as well. The Idea of fun hasn't changed with you people, I am so glad I am not playing it anymore. Just came to watch a replay after 3 months of not being in touch with the game in a while in any way and the only positive thing that I can take from this video, is that I did the right thing not playing it anymore with the retarded community it has.
Boy nothing like a game ending detonation to rub a salt mine into the wounded pride of that Vermont player who was having a really good game, but underestimated how lethal 2 Benham's can be, even at perilously low health.
5:41 Today, nobody gets the Benem intentionally, it is not available for coal, steel, or any other resource other then sheer luck, as you can only get her in a super container or Santa's Box
so there are currently 354 premium ships (and counting) in the game, i don't have 190 of them, with 1 for sure prem every 15 Santa crates, then i only need to buy,,,,,2,850 crates, at 100 bucks per 15 crates, that's only $19,000.00 for a guaranteed Benem. now where did i put that credit card.....
At 20:45 the Vermont made the right move. He either saw or suspected that his path to the island was going to be intercepted by torps - which it was - and made the only move he could - back to port. He was always doomed after that.
Sailing in a straight line towards 2 torpedo destroyers is not the "right move". If the captain had been moving away, there was a possibility that they could have won.
@@fendelphi Watch the video again. There were 2 sets on their way to intercept him in case he was heading for the island. He would have been dead if he tried that. He did the opposite of going in a straight line. His problem was that the island was the only way he was ever going to survive, so although he managed to dodge those sets, he was always doomed after that.
@@AllAhabNoMoby thank you for saying this, I was annoyed that Jingles was criticizing the Vermont for seemingly not going behind the island when there's a literal wall of torps the Vermont would have died on rather than just getting clipped with one. The detonation was lucky as much of the Benhams' play was for how little health remained on both ships. The Vermont could have survived two more torps if the last one wasn't a detonation. I really don't think this is seal clubbing as much as the ships were in ideal circumstances but played unnecessarily risky in many instances. Choke and Stroke being on less than 100 hp could have taken a random secondary hit and died, should have let his team mate spot for him. Also the Jager being AFK was a god send otherwise this would have been a loss most likely.
@@AllAhabNoMoby I am not talking about heading towards the island. I am talking about moving away from the threat. If he had done a u-turn, he would have avoided the torpedoes(although he had no way of knowing where they were aimed at), and would have gained time to run the clock down. Timestamp 21:00 The first set of 8 torpedoes completely missed. It then avoided the second set of 8, by turning back to port(nose in towards where the torpedoes were coming from). If the Vermont then had either run for cover of the island by turning starboard again, or completed the turn to port until it was heading away from the destroyers, it would have avoided any further torpedoes for the next 2 minutes of so with ease. Sailing in a straight line towards danger would maximized the risk with minimal reward. He is never going to catch them and get them spotted. Sailing towards the island would be risky, as the threat would still come closer, but would have provided cover from further torpedoes for several minutes. Sailing away would have been the least risk, as he would be both changing his course(in case torps were headed his way) and created distance, giving more time to react to incoming torpedoes, as well as reduce the amount that can hit him.
@@fendelphi Good luck turning full broadside to a Benham in a slow ass ship like the Vermont. Even if your intention is to "turn away". Tell me when you succeeded. That ship can shit out torps like it could go out of fashion at any second. There's a very little time window to do any big maneuvering. Let alone space if the Benham seriously starts flooding the entire ocean. Also if you look closely the Vermont kept changing at least his course to dodge incoming torps, so it wasn't a case of "sailing in a straight line" as you claim it. He did make a mistake in sailing towards the DDs in the first place that's true. If he wanted to buy time, it should have been done much sooner. But for one I don't remember seeing what happened a few minutes prior in that cap, nor do I care to check. He might have a reason to sail into the cap, potentially cutting off the DDs from claiming it and then turned left instead of right at the crucial moment.
I THINK the Vermont has about the same or the same Torp Damage Reduction as the Yamato. On a positive note Jingles, thanks to the laws of Hydrodynamics, FAT SHIPS turn shockingly well.
I've always wanted to play the Benham because its the class my grandfather served on but it has never been available in the time I've played this game other than once a year as an impossible crate drop during christmas.
Yeah, I have it because I did the original hellgrind for the Benham, and it was *brutal.* It is a great ship, but it's definitely not "blow thousands of dollars gambling on pixel boats" great.
Well.. the funny thing is, that Magic Missiles always hit, unless the target is immune to magic and/or magic missiles, while those two dumped about 250 torps into the water and only about 50 of them hit :P
The Orage is a new French tech tree dd, and it's going to be the tier 9 ship. They look kind of fun. Not necessarily better than the mainline dds, but they have a new torp gimmick where their torps do less damage the further they travel. So in essence, they seem to play like the Yolo Emilio
The one BB I love getting into cyclones with is the Rhode Island. 22 sec. reload on 12 14 in. Guns + Georgia secondaries and speed boost + 9km 45 second radar is a blast for catching stalking DDs off guard.
people would get tunnel visioned or just too noob to just take their eyes off the target and look at the points for a split second to realize that they sometimes don't need to win harder. Then again. in the last part of the game, Vermont was blocked off to go behind the island by lames' salvo of torps and has lost his chance to go behind the island since his turn radius probably is too large to go behind after that.
Despite making that monumentally stupid decision, that Vermont ended up top on his team and beating everyone except for two players on the winning team. That says a lot
The USS Benham. The IJN Kitakami with four quad torpedo launchers per side and a long reload was too out of balance to keep in the game, but an American destroyer that can put the same weight of torpedoes in the water since it has a fast reload is just fine.
I think the Vermont player thought it wouldn't win with point with the time remaining with only 1 Cap, so he went after a second one witch cost him the game
Regarding the Jaeger: while a Habsburger torpedoboat-leader from the Great War really should not be a Tier 9 in the context of the game, the idea of a Great War torpedoboat-leader remaining very dangerous in WW2 is not so crazy, provided the ship had modern weapons and engines installed sometime near the end of the 1930s. She'd not make a great fleet destroyer serving on the high seas, but as a torpedoboat focused on aggressive hit-and-run strikes in more confined waters, she'd be more dangerous than not.
To be fair (*to be faaiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrr* - for my fellow Letterkenny fans) to the Minotaur captain, they were in open water and could have reasonably predicted they'd be showing a lot of broadside to several enemy ships when the Jutland got spotted, so I don't think the decision there to hold fire was all that dumb. It has basically no armor, after all.
And is made entirely out of citadels. Minotaur is.. for all intents and purposes, a tier 10 Pensacola :D You get spotted in either of those two ships and anyone that CAN shoot at you, WILL 100% shoot at you because of it.
Minotaur's citadel is not only above the waterline but stretches from the front turrets to the back and doesn't have more than 100mm of protection at it's sides. It's frontal plating is 13mm (less than the Benhams featured;) when the Minotaur did engage the enemy DD that was actually competent, he succeeded but at the cost of his ship which, the team did actually need.
The Orage is a new T9 French "theoretical" DD, released for Closed Test 13.4 about 3 months ago. 3x2 127mm guns, 7% fire chance on the HE, decent HE and AP damage, 18,100 base HP, 19mm plating. 3x3 550mm torpedo launchers - max damage 23,400, 12km range, 70kt speed, 1.5km detectability, 120s reload. Not bad on the torpedoes, guns are decent, but lacking in consumables - it literally only has DCP and a 30% Engine Boost.
Maybe the Vermont couldn't put the numbers together on the fly and know that he would be ahead on points after 2 minutes? After all, he was behind on cap points so to him it probably looked like he was gonna loose and didn't have any choice than to go after the destroyers.
I keep hoping for the Benham too! Got the Minigumo in a trade and love it. Also picked up the Yudachi and the Kidd. All very fun ships! And every once in awhile I roll out the Yamigiri. o7 AJ!
As designed, the Benhams COULD launch sixteen torpedoes in a single massive salvo, using the torpedo gyro settings for "ahead fire": the ship would charge directly towards the target(s) with its torpedo tubes trained obliquely forward. When a solution is attained, the torpedoes would be ripple-fired, relying on the gyros in the torpedo to turn them inwards to the proper target bearing. In practice, this was seldom done, because the torpedoes were not very reliable with large gyro angles. Instead, torpedoes would be fired from one side, using small gyro angles, with the opposite side used as "in-tube reloads" for a second salvo. I actually have a 1930s Navy text book that explains this, and all the interwar theory of destroyer torpedo action.

Jingles...typhoons are bad for torp DDs with 10-12k range torps also, because you can no longer see your targets to make best use of those torps. For CAs and BBs, it effectively gives them 8k conceal...so can definitely be a positive.
There are pros and cons. For battleships, it makes it easier for them to hide from enemy battleships and cruisers, as well as long distance torpedoes. On the other hand, if you do become spotted, you know that enemies are within 8km, and your low rudder response, slow turning turrets and large target profile makes it very easy to punish a surprised battleship, especially if they catch you broadside. Outside of a typhoon, if nothing is visible and you are still spotted, you know that a destroyer(or similar stealthy ship) is around somewhere, and you might consider doing maneuvers to avoid potential torpedoes. Much harder to do effectively if you are already within 8km. If a destroyer spots something within 8km, it usually has the advantage of still being unspotted itself(although radar and some Hydros might become problematic, as they know something is within 8km). They also have the maneuverability and speed to get out of those 8km range if need be(most of the time). So yeah, it is not as simple as "good" or "bad" for a specific type of ship, but more of a situational thing.
I really enjoyed the Benham when it was still a regular ship in the US DD line. Having not played for a while I'm wondering what ship I now have in that spot.
when I still played I used to dream of running Div with Rita in her benham, me in the yugumo and a 3rd person in the benham as well. the glorious destruction. I never ran triple div destroyers. double yes, triple no. though I had friends I'd run triple georgia or Pommern with for te giggles
Two Tier 9 PREMIUM Destroyers, which aren't avaliable for purchase (per se, you can possibly get them in the container lottery I guess) anymore. That laugh, as if it's a regular ship anyone has access to.
Easy to "seal club" with over-powered, wall of "skill" from concealment DDs. For BBs - nothing they can really do to avoid the torps. A div with 2 of these DDs - is extremely OP. Going behind the island - all the DD had to do was go around it. So the island only would by a minute - maybe before 1 DD would find and kill him.
If Choke & Stroke ever sends in a replay where he and his mate play Brest's I'm afraid we may loose Jingles. It may be a fun way to go though.

Vermont didn't even chose violence, he just chose death, he was never going to spot the DDs if they didn't want to be spotted.
I'm surprised this video wasn't called 'Bend it like Benham'.
I really enjoyed the Benham when it was still a regular ship in the US DD line. Having not played for a while I'm wondering what ship I now have in that spot.
Yeeeees, it’s my favorite ship!
when I still played I used to dream of running Div with Rita in her benham, me in the yugumo and a 3rd person in the benham as well. the glorious destruction. I never ran triple div destroyers. double yes, triple no. though I had friends I'd run triple georgia or Pommern with for te giggles
I feel this should have been a game of throws given the last few minutes of the game
Welcome to the state of the player base now.
Obviously the Vermont should have just turned, its that easy or so we keep getting told.
Two Tier 9 PREMIUM Destroyers, which aren't avaliable for purchase (per se, you can possibly get them in the container lottery I guess) anymore. That laugh, as if it's a regular ship anyone has access to.
Now I want a Benham even more then before, LOL!
Internal combustion has never been so funny.
Vermont would not have lasted going behind that island Jingles.
