Been around since the Closed Beta Test days and honestly I found the biggest struggle in the American BB line was 100% the Colorado just because it could face T9s. Not saying T8s in a New Mexico was much better but her armor and insane torpedo damage reduction definitely made it a much more enjoyable grind than Colorado to NC.
I have two lines that I am working on, the American BB main line and the German BB line. On the American line I am at tier IX as well as the German line. I am now going to concentrate on both lines and finish both off. Next on my list to finish will be the Japanese BB line.
Worst IJN tech line BB is Kawachi and thankfully you get through that PoS fast. Rest is pretty solid. Myogi is 3 turret Kongo at T4, which means 29 knots of speed, good range, decent hp and armour and you now get 2.0 sigma. The Kongou is one of the best T5 tech line BBs, because speed, armour and hp. The Fusou mostly is dpm and armour, as accuracy is bad, but yeah. At least still not as slow as NM and it has better dpm than NM. And better armour. Nagato is... standard for T7. I might even call t second worst in the line, because Nagato is just fast and accurate with big guns, but has crap armour and overmatch proliferation at T7. It's not bad though. Amagi is back to many guns but meh accuracy. Speed at T8 is bog standard these days and otherwise only thing worth mentioning is that it has the highest dpm after RN BBs and a good torp protection that also makes the sides very resistant to HE. also turtleback, lol. Izumo got buffed to the wazoo, kinda like Furutaka and has now straight up better deck than Yamato and guns with ballistics and pen like Republique, as well as 2.0 sigma. Yamato needs no explanation.
Got my highest damage against one ship in the Kleber in ranked, 168k. He kept pushing the flank I was on by myself, and gave up trying to hit me after about 7 salvos at 12km range. Kleber is an excellent ship, torps are fabulous for smoking BBs hiding behind islands. Hit hard with great firing angles and crazy fast reload.
@@mertakyldz2430 well, that is a good question. i would go for the british line. Smoke with good cooldown but short duration, hydro, good acceleration, repair party later one, nice guns and decent torps. Not the fastest, but very versatile.
nah, the lowest point on the Japanese line is Myogi. The line only goes up from there. Izumo is fantastic, especially after the buff. That shell velocity on those 410s is comparable to soviet railguns.
Great Indianapolis video! I need to get back to grinding French DD's... I've kind of neglected them for a while. I still need to get Yamato in my Japanese BB line. I've got all of my US CA's, (including U.S.S. Indianapolis) sans the newest premium and specialty offerings. I have Dunkerque and her lesser copy...no other French Battle Cruisers. Got Alabama a few years ago as part of a "Summer Mystery Sale", where you paid full price for 1 premium ship and got two "mystery" ships of the same tier for next to dirt. I purchased Alabama and received Lenin and Prinz Eugen as the mystery ships.
I grid whichever line happens to gab my attention while grinding the previous line. Lately, about half the time I use free xp to get to tier 9 and then use blue ship boosters to get from tier 9 to 10. I think the best grind has to be earning the Harugumo, It's not that great but all the ships leading up to it are good. I grind this line over and over for the research points. If you grind for these points the tier 9 is the most important ship in the line as it takes the longest to grind and Kita is top notch. Cheers!
I find t5-7 dreadful I always skip them with freexp bc they are pretty much copies of the torp dd line but with longer gun and torp reload so that they are just the torpdd line in far worse but Akizuki an Kita are best in Tier dds and harugumo is also very very strong.

Out of context, a bit, but a question for anyone out there - does anyone PLAN to stop grinding a particular line after Tier 8? Asking because - was playing on the NA PTS on Thursday and exploring the Russian cruiser line(s). Waited nearly five minutes to get into a Random battle with a Tier 10 D.Donskoi (heavy cruiser) only to find everyone else was a so-called super ship. My "battle" lasted all of 3 minutes before being Dev Striked from across the map by a "super Battleship". If map-border sniping is the new meta it's not for me. I am very new to this game (starting in the Beta back in the years but have focused on the big brother WoT). I am currently running the Tier V New York (US BB). And struggle a bit with it. Is it more my low skill experience or is is also a bit a downside like her big sister New Mexico you mentioned 14:20 ?! Thanks. Great video anyway. Thank you.
Been playing since closed beta. Missed some play time here and there for health issues and internet issues. Don’t try to play this game on satellite internet. Moved to a place with only high speed internet access through satellite available. By the time I detected torpedoes my ship was sank on the server end. Don’t have the French DDs topped out yet. Cruisers either. American Bb and cruisers I have.
Monty is my absolute favorite BB. Completely vanilla but if played right, she is a menace to everyone. I hit a new dmg record with her recently: 340k in ranked, no arms race. Sent it to the Lord himself, but it seems it didnt fit with his plans ;(
5. Haven't played Kleber line. 4. I do hear other people saying the japanese BBs are great, but I can't make them work. The vertical dispersion is pityful. Even 2.1 sigma on Yamato doesn't get the ship anywhere near 'reliable' for me. 3. Haven't played DM line either. 2. I'm stuck at Brest since a few months. Have been stuck on Cherbourg for a few months as well. Both are a chore to play for me, for the same reason as the japanese BBs. But it feels even worse on the french cruisers. 1. 100% Yes, the old american BBs are amazing. I have regrinded that line 3 times. And I actually like the New Mexico more than the Colorado. Colorado feels too squishy at T7, and triple turrets > twin turrets.
I love your content but can you make a video of how to grind from tier V to X because most of us are looking for good grinding videos for that tier and the high tier players already know how to play the game pretty damn well and if you make that type of videos I bet you will pull in more viewers because most people looking at these videos are trying to grind from V to X
I just started the French battlecruiser line and so far the Cherbourg is a pile of garbage. No armor, a long reload and very inaccurate guns is a terrible combination. I have played around 20 games with it so far, fully upgraded. I hate it. A cruiser is giving me broadside at 10km away.... 4k dmg. And that has happened multiple times. I've managed to get a total of 3 citadel hits with this ship. The rudder breaks when someone looks at it and any ship with 406mm+ guns laughs at your armor.
Love the French DD, but lower tiers aren't as fun, especially as a newer player; I had better grind in EU. Love the IJN BBs. US or Russian CA are both excellent. Not a big fan of the French BC. I would say US BBs as #2 and #1, the Brit BC line, which is probably the funnest line in the game for me with not a single ship a down side, leading to the pinnacle of the Vincent. Awesome!
Grinding two lines of U.S. battleships, one line of U.S. destroyers, and two lines of U.S. cruisers. That's five lines. That's more than enough. I have a U.S. sub researched, haven't bought it, may not. I never cared for the excess crap of the carriers.
@sealordmountbatten like danielcanfield wrote, the US BB´s were my first ships i played too. But i have a Huge question!? How you can say the Colorado is fine. Im a extremley well BB player, and my records are not rare stuff that happen, i had many many games e.g. with my Bismarck where i get 120 k dmg plus. Or with my N.C. even with my Amagi. For me the biggest pain in the a... was and is the Colorado. She never hit, just overpen when hits, and yeah did i have to say more ? i have in her 14 games i played her, realy giving up on her. I tryed her 3-4 games ... ok trash ... skip ... 3 years later (after buff) ... another 9-10 games because i dont wanted use free exp again, and i thought im now a well better player since then ... nah still Trash. i have a 828 base EXP with her and 44 k average. In compare to other BB´s at T7. T7 Colorado 14games 828PR 44.4k dmg Nagato 20games 1082PR 57.7k dmg KG V 7games 1085PR 71.0k dmg Rooke 3games 1464PR 63.4k dmg Sinop 8games 1.363PR 73.9k dmg T6 New Mex 33games 2014PR 57.9k dmg. thats just my stats. Now you can say, wow you didnt even played most of them 20 Games and your stats are not that well. Yeah thats right, i mostly use Free EXP to fully build them up, after buying. So my BB´s are never stock, and use flags/exp boosts/premium and Daily win to push them. I dont play most of my "grind ships" more then just my Daily win. and to compare my general stats: T8 Richelieu 9games 89%winrate 2095 PR 87.7k dmg and 1.44 frags per game. After this i was finished :D and was ready to play T9. or Bismarck 66games 58%winrate 1891PR 71.0k dmg, so i can say, its not because of "suddenlost of talent". And i think you forgot the german french BB line. German because the Preussen is a so much better ship then the G.K. (and you dont play her mainly on secondary like the german bb´s before) Her Guns goes thorugh everything! And the french just because of the Richelieu, but for the Repoblique aswell. At T8 just beeing traight to the enemies around 15 km to the enemys and shoot and wait and shoot and go abit back and shoot :D with a precision OUCH ! And at T10, Sniping like a god.
A couple of things: 1: Wouldn't the Vermont line be the main US BB line? 2: The New Mexico sucks, it's slow, the guns are slow, it's armor and hp aren't anything to write home about... But why is it so fun? Also, why does it incapacitate *everything?* 3: You said (and recanted) that the Georgia aged like milk. WHAT THE FRICK ARE IT'S AP SHELLS?! MY SEATTLE LOST 36K HP IN ONE VOLLEY!!! There was another ship in that same game which got rolled by GA.
My take : 1. Harugumo (as you will at one point regrind ) 2. Schlieffen as is fun to play . 3. Republique you dont feel a sleep grind it . 4. Shimakaze classic torp boat 5. Henry IV great & fast cruiser line , super easy to make a loot dmg = easy to grind .
mine: 1. new euro or US DD line, all other DD lines are only good at high tiers 2. Schliefen or St Vincent BB lines, fun/strong at every tier 3. either Brit cruiser line, bread & butter gameplay that will teach good tactics 4. Pan American cruisers, for learning radar, I prefer over US heavy cruisers 5. Chinese cruisers, I prefer over US light cruisers
I only play ranked now. Yamato is such a terrible ship in ranked because this game mode is so brawl focused. A schlieffen will chew through Yamato in almost any situation
Hi so I manage to grind my way up to tier 8 in the German tech tree which im not really having fun in anymore so I started to grind the us tech tree which is fun still at new mexico. So should i sell my German ships for extra credits or keep them?
I’d say keep the Bismarck and Gnesenau. The German bbs when you build into their secondaries is awesome for brawls. They can be meh in random battles but in brawls it’s amazing!
T6/T7 on main US BB line is absolute TORTURE and will teach you nothing about playing BBs and just demoralize a noobie. Once you hit T8 then you get an ass kicker, North Carolina has 27km range you can build for, plus spotter plane gun range over that. But Colorado and N Mexico is just awful, so slow, like 22kts, glacial turret traverse, guns that dont do much more than a normal cruiser, very short 16km gun range that guarantees you'll get hit by everyone, armor that gets chunked by anything. Its very easy to pass over T2 to T5 because the ship XP is so small you probably have enough of it already. But I recommend anyone buying about 200 FXP with dubs so you can just avoid T6/T7 as this is just mind numbingly awful and boring to play and will make a noob hate BBs before they get a chance to see what theyre really like. I recommend Schliefen and St Vincent lines as these BBs are fun to play all the way through and will teach you good tactics and will stand up to any other BB line at every tier.
Colorado slaps because it's accurate and the guns hit like a truck. Every now and then you get that game where your flank collapses completely and then you're shafted of course. Running into a fucking Akizuki sucks too, but that's just because the Akizuki is broken. New Mexico plain and simply sucks ass.
@@gernhard.reinholdsen No, Colorado DOES NOT kick ass at all. Like if you kite a flank, maybe you will stay alive the whole game doing decent damage, by decent I mean 60k to 80k damage. It will do chunk damage the same way a cruiser like Zao will, definitely not hit like a truck.
The US battleships are fantastic learning tools because apart from shooting they also - at tier 5/6/7 - force a player to learn proper angling and positioning. Positioning especially because of their slow speed.
I think the IZUMO is a decent ship, I like her. If memory serves me (and at my age that's debatable) the reload rate on the TOULON is north of 95% of BB rates at 35+ seconds, that's the reason I dislike her. The Pensacola in the US heavy cruiser line is a dog; that treaty armor makes her REALLY malleable IMO. Sea Lord, you almost always dog the COLORADO for her speed. Yet you pick the NM as your complaint ship, why is that ?
Heavy AP has less impact angle on decks at long range due to plunging fire ballistics. Not as good as improved pen angles, but you can pen & citadel some ships at long range due to this.
I really dont like those lines. French DD. great fun, but don't play the object(DD role) BB are just boring. French BC/ heavy cruisers. Sure could be very fun.

Monty is my absolute favorite BB. Completely vanilla but if played right, she is a menace to everyone. I hit a new dmg record with her recently: 340k in ranked, no arms race. Sent it to the Lord himself, but it seems it didnt fit with his plans ;(
Meme HE Monty in ranked is pretty insane as well!
Thx for awsome content
Hei, love your videos for a long time, tho i would have made an honorable mention of German BC line becose of fun factor. Cheers,
Rasputin
My list would be:
5-Japanese Gunboat Destroyers
4-British Destroyers
3- US Heavy Cruisers
2- British Battlecruisers
1-German Battlecruisers
French?
The New York is such a pain to play
After I finish the two lines im on ill have to do American BBs or Japanese bbs.
Shima line was prob my favorite
I cant have Zuikaku or Akagi. But i can have Shoukaku for great grandpa who served aboard them. My furst line xD eventhough people detest carriers
Lord, what do you think about Italian ships?
I love your content but can you make a video of how to grind from tier V to X because most of us are looking for good grinding videos for that tier and the high tier players already know how to play the game pretty damn well and if you make that type of videos I bet you will pull in more viewers because most people looking at these videos are trying to grind from V to X
i refuse to be an island hugger
I'm that crazy guy who loves the Pan-American cruisers.
The Marseille is SOOO fun
German large DD line. Reminds me of Kleber
Thank you
>Gets 70% overpens on everything I shoot as an American BB
i only play japanese..destroyers and cruisers,,,still in tier 8,,lol..hugs from Portugal
Watching USS Indianapolis in bed this morning haha
Love the French DD, but lower tiers aren't as fun, especially as a newer player; I had better grind in EU. Love the IJN BBs. US or Russian CA are both excellent. Not a big fan of the French BC. I would say US BBs as #2 and #1, the Brit BC line, which is probably the funnest line in the game for me with not a single ship a down side, leading to the pinnacle of the Vincent. Awesome!
Horses for courses - I'm finding the lower tier French DD's more fun than the upper tier ones....having said that, am about to buy Marceau :)
Grinding two lines of U.S. battleships, one line of U.S. destroyers, and two lines of U.S. cruisers. That's five lines. That's more than enough.
I have a U.S. sub researched, haven't bought it, may not. I never cared for the excess crap of the carriers.
gj !!
For me the Brit BB’s are well worth grinding because both the T10 ships are just so nasty.
"the Fattleships.." LoL
Well, shit. I've been grinding Pan-European DDs, German heavy cruisers and Japanese cruisers. Luckily, I've been grinding French cruisers as well.
T7
Colorado 14games 828PR 44.4k dmg
Nagato 20games 1082PR 57.7k dmg
KG V 7games 1085PR 71.0k dmg
Rooke 3games 1464PR 63.4k dmg
Sinop 8games 1.363PR 73.9k dmg
T6
New Mex 33games 2014PR 57.9k dmg.
thats just my stats. Now you can say, wow you didnt even played most of them 20 Games and your stats are not that well. Yeah thats right, i mostly use Free EXP to fully build them up, after buying. So my BB´s are never stock, and use flags/exp boosts/premium and Daily win to push them. I dont play most of my "grind ships" more then just my Daily win.
and to compare my general stats:
T8 Richelieu 9games 89%winrate 2095 PR 87.7k dmg and 1.44 frags per game.
A couple of things:
1: Wouldn't the Vermont line be the main US BB line?
2: The New Mexico sucks, it's slow, the guns are slow, it's armor and hp aren't anything to write home about... But why is it so fun? Also, why does it incapacitate *everything?*
3: You said (and recanted) that the Georgia aged like milk. WHAT THE FRICK ARE IT'S AP SHELLS?! MY SEATTLE LOST 36K HP IN ONE VOLLEY!!! There was another ship in that same game which got rolled by GA.
I wouldnt say Georgia aged like milk. But its no longer OP when you have BBs like Schleifen and St Vincent available for free.
1. Gdansk line
2. Conqueror line
3. Des Moines line
4. Nakhimov line
5. Schlieffen line
My take :
1. Harugumo (as you will at one point regrind )
2. Schlieffen as is fun to play .
3. Republique you dont feel a sleep grind it .
4. Shimakaze classic torp boat
5. Henry IV great & fast cruiser line , super easy to make a loot dmg = easy to grind .
mine:
1. new euro or US DD line, all other DD lines are only good at high tiers
2. Schliefen or St Vincent BB lines, fun/strong at every tier
3. either Brit cruiser line, bread & butter gameplay that will teach good tactics
4. Pan American cruisers, for learning radar, I prefer over US heavy cruisers
@@Joey_Liu Thanks for the tip!
I’m also grinding German but finished the US main line, very good line just lead more than normal when you hit tier 8
T8 german BB is most hard to pass
but the end T10 Schlieffen is most fun of all BB and Preussen is just mediocre BB
you think New Mexico is fun? are you insane? you like New Mexico over T8 german line?
Wait 1 dd line, 1 ca line, and 3 bb lines? No sub no CV? If you really wanted to help new players you would pick one line from each ship type.
God bless you brother research messiah 2030 part 1 great content
@monkeyrater he agreed with you that th New Mexico sucks lol. The Colorado can be decent sometimes though. Key word: "Sometimes".
@@Lunar137 I meant to say Colorado, I edited my post.
Yet you pick the NM as your complaint ship, why is that ?
yuh·maa·tow
tier 5 new york is the real slog. all the others are great.
Got them whats next
Sea Lord, please don't tell folks that US BB shells have improved pen angles, they do not.
The Des Moines etc does, but the BB's do not.
Heavy AP has less impact angle on decks at long range due to plunging fire ballistics. Not as good as improved pen angles, but you can pen & citadel some ships at long range due to this.
Like was mentioned in the above comment, I was referring to the plunging fire at longer range, it’s quite devastating to cruisers
very nice video but first you tell your users how best to get the 10 series ships so that you can use them like in your video??? Xd Thanks
Mushy pea gods
I really dont like those lines. French DD. great fun, but don't play the object(DD role) BB are just boring. French BC/ heavy cruisers. Sure could be very fun.
Love the documentary yesterday.
No CVs :c
Where is 2 ?
Didn't you watch the video?
izumo is terrible always overpenning and when it does pen it does min damage
US Heavy CA... you mean the line with the Pepsicola, New Orleans and Buffalo? Yeah the DM is great, Balti is O.K. but the rest of the line sucks
TH-camrs dont tel you the trust. Look what they play in ranked late in night. Or look World cup.
