    I have a 7 x 12 dump trailer or technically a 83 x 12 dump trailer and in this video I talk about hauling my John Deere 2038R compact tractor in this trailer.
    Here is my review of the weigh safe hitches and how they affect payload

    Also have-to be aware of the seals in the-two way lift , that’s all that holds down the bed , to much weight on the rear of the trailer could blow the seal ,

    Brock, I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the stuff you are getting for your tractor and operation. Maybe I need to know the secret to negotiating with the finance committee?

    Safety tip, put you truck in 4WD before loading and unloading. This way if the rear end is lifted you still have the front wheels and the parking pawl to keep from moving.

      Also buy some plastic chocks and throw them under the trailer and truck tires. I use them all the time. $20 and a minute or two to throw them down.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good way to do it. I use those chocks when parking the trailer
      When loading, What I do is support the back of the trailer so that I don’t have an issue with it lifting and then use the emergency brake. Works really well

    Tight fit. It would of been nice if they had a 14Ft trailer for you, but having 12ft trailer is better than no trailer. I hope to some day purchase one myself Although I know my Grand L3560 wouldn't fit in it.

    I take my bucket off and put it in the front of the trailer and then the loader arms sit on top of the bucket. Lets me haul with a weight bracket on the back. and nothing sticks out.

    I didn’t hear a mention of tongue weight. I’m also hauling my 12’ dump trailer with a half ton... and my truck requires weight distribution hitch with more than 500lbs tongue weight. You might want to look into that. The air suspension will level the truck.. but you could still be overloading the rear axle by a lot. Your setup(almost exactly the same as mine).. is probably pushing 1000-1200lbs tongue weight.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I had seen that I’m rated for 1000 pounds of tongue weight but I’m interested in anything that makes it easier to Pull so I will be doing a bunch of research on those weight distribution hitches

    • @peterconlin9002
      @peterconlin9002 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RockhillfarmYT it’s entirely possible that they up the tongue rating with the air suspension.. but most half tons require weight distribution hitch beyond 5,000lbs towing. The percentage of people that follow that rule... probably pretty low.

    The weak points are your passenger tires on your truck, and the trailer tires are not rated for 7000 pounds per axle. For 7000 lb axles you need eight wheels or four wheel per axle. Also loose the quick hitch, unnecessary weight and length.

    The way to figure out the size for trailer you need is put your grapl on and your bush hog on and measure from the end of you grapl to the end of you Bush hog then measure from the end of your grapl to the middle of your rear tire and add enough so you rear tires on your tractor will be in the middle of both axles.

    My 14’ Load Trail is my only transport trailer and it fits fine with the backhoe attached. I currently have an 18 3500 limited as an upgrade from my 12 1500 limited with 3.92 rear end. I have a Diamondback HD bed cover on the truck so I have had to fork an implement on a pallet up there after dropping the bucket as far into the trailer as possible then I also have the forks with me on the job. Of course it all depends on the combo I need. The flail mower grapple combo is perfect and will be my most common use for personal non-paid work. Footings and retaining wall prep are my favorite paid work I think after easy brush hogging with the flail mower.

      Thank you for your feedback and sharing your set up. Right now the limiting factor keeping me from going bigger is my half ton truck

    • @gwolf7716
      @gwolf7716 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RockhillfarmYT your 1500 is perfect as long as you don’t get carried away hauling sand or gravel. If your truck has the barn door tailgate or doesn’t have the Ram boxes you could just fork a pallet right in and leave the forks in place (probably).🤞I’ve got Ram boxes so on top is best for me.
