In 1967 I bought a '63 split window with 340hp, and later that summer, I bought a '65 Corvette fuel injection unit, without the air cleaner, from a private party, for (believe it or not) $150. It was on an El Camino and seller started it up to show me that it worked . We removed it right then and there and shortly there after, I installed it in my '63 . I went to my local Chevy parts dealer to price the air cleaner and he was so shocked, he said. "OMG, it costs $75.00" !!! Needless to say, I passed on that, as $75. was like $500. now . The Fuelie worked pretty well, but was rather hard starting the car most of the time , and I ended up selling the set up about 6 months later . How I wish I had that now, and how I wish I still had my '63 now too !!!

When I was a kid my older brother had a 66. He use to let me drive it at 16 years old. I never thought I would ever own a corvette but I eventually did. I've got a 2002 C5. It is a great car. And it reminds me of my brother's C2. I miss not having a manual transmission but the car has so many great features. That C2 is still on my radar. I would like a small block 4 speed coupe with power steering. My brother's C5 didn't have power steering and it was a chore to drive it. But lots of street rods didn't have PS back then. I think my brother paid $1800 for it used. I paid $15k for my C5.

A original complete 1963-65 F.I. Aircleaner unit today is more like $4,000-6,000 if you could find one which you usually can't even if you wanted, as much of the time you can't find one to buy.

"Forget about your Hemis and your GTOs I've got a new machine, and she really goes othin' can outrun my SS 396" That one is awesome. The fuel injection however is mechanical. There were a number of issues with the injection system if it wasn't matained or someone who didn't know worked on it. Many the time I've worked on a 327 - - -good memories.

Jay, I think the vents in the pillar are exit vents for the flow-through ventilation. Also, I believe the switch marked "Headlights" was to be used when washing the car or to wash the headlights, and I don't think the headlights light up when switch is factory installed.

Great review...There are three pull vent cables under the dash the left and right are in foot wells the center one operates a cable and turns on a fan the is in the rear compartment that exits out the C-Pillar on only the drivers side. This feature was only on the 1964 and 65 Corvette. 1965 was also the first year to introduce 4 wheel disk brakes.

those are factory wheel covers. The knock off wheels were not standard equipment The knock-off wheels were more expensive than the 396 cubic inch engine option. So it's not a huge surprise this fuelie doesn't have that option. Those wheels where 60% of the cost of the fuel injected engine: 322 dollars for the wheels, 538 for the fuelie engine.

    1. Sting Ray or Mid Year, not C2 back in the day. 2 lights were operated by motors, not vacuum, that was 68-82
    3. the knob closest to the door under the rotational light switch is for the vacuum air system of the cargo area on which the driver side gills blow hot air out of the car. The knob was 3 speed. You were right, those gills are functional. This was on 64 -65 coupes only and was before Astro-ventilation. Also behind the seats below the carpet panel are two buckets for tools and the car scissor jack. 4. under the car between the exhaust sits the spear tire tub. close so close!

I had a 65 Vette soft top. Weird car as it was ermine white, white top, white interior (the dash and carpet was black). 327/250 horse with a 3 speed saginaw on the floor. Think that's weird ..... It had disk brakes, and the factory AM/FM radio. I had a love/hate relationship with the car. Decided to sell it after 9 months owning it. Much later in life, had a 65 El Camino that I made into a street rod. Was much more fun that the Corvette and easier to get in and out from!

Uh, oh. This was NOT Electronic Fuel Injection. This was mechanical fuel injection which operated like Bosch CIS K-Jetronic F.I. Bosch lays claim to the Rochester fuel injection, claiming that they developed it. All the fuel injectors sprayed fuel anytime there was fuel pressure. Like Bosch CIS, Rochester F.I. had an airflow mechanical sensor to regulate how much fuel was delivered to the fuel injectors.
Correct, in 1982 the Corvette C3 had Cross-fire E.F.I. which continued into the 1985 model year. You could also get this E.F.I. in the Camaro.
1965 was the first year that Corvette had front disc brakes. The C3 added rear disc brakes.
If you look at the ignition distributor, you will see that it has 2 auxiliary drives, one for the mechanical tach and the other for the fuel injection's high pressure fuel pump.

I can explain why the 66 didn't have it. It didn't really work as intended, it really wasn't that necessary, it wasn't very accessible for service, and removal of the feature simplified production on a car body that was supposed to cease production. The 1967 Corvette was supposed to be the first year of the 'mako shark' C3 body, 66 was supposed to be the last C2. No way were they re-introducing the vents for 67.

That switch is for the headlight buckets to flip up or down and they were NOT vacuum operated they each have an electrical motor ( know because I have rebuilt dozens of them-a tip put very little grease in on the gears or they will bind and operate too slowly) from 1963-1967. Went to the less reliable vacuum system in 1968. Both of those pulls under the dash are for vents LF one for left side and Rt one for passenger vent. + Conv's came with soft top only or for zero cost you could get a hardtop Conv top only car or (for $237 if my memory services me) both tops. This car has the optional teak wheel, but 60 years later who knows if it was added but considering its a fuel car I bet the owner paid for this option from the factory. Wrong again the side vents behind the side window ARE FUNCTIONAL-before you make anymore video's you should do some research, as these cars were proudly designed and made in America and many people poured their heart and souls into these cars so you should feel obligated to get it right.

Wow sorry i offended you I did a total of research clearly got the wrong information and since it was 2 years ago.. I had to go back and relisten it doesn't say anything about Bosch. It's a Rochester fuel injection unit and it's mechanical not electronic... that was my bad but you really need to work on addressing people in the comment section it's possible to correct someone without coming off as a total douche.. do better
