Is my boi finally growing?(this is zippydsmlee/dastrange) I hope you get to feel better, man! I am mainly mean tweeting on Twitter or doing vids on rumble these days I try not to use TH-cam too much, the censor bots were just too much.
Hey zippy was wondering what happened to you I don’t block comments youtube might but I don’t … I thought about posting to other platforms but scared I wouldn’t be able to keep up with multiple platforms Thank you so much =)
O M G! You really need to do your homework ! You got so many things wrong on this car ! Very disappointing!
What information was wrong for most of the information form advertising
Had no idea that the Chrysler 300H had rear buckets. That is really a gorgeous interior. WYR: 1. That's a hard choice, but I think the Grand Prix since that's exactly what I wanted in '62 in Second Grade. Wanted the '63 T-bird too! 2. GT Hawk. Got to hand it to you, Jay, you always deliver when you say you will and every week there's old car history to feast on.
That car was incredible sweet choices and I really try this week I’ve been under the weather so I haven’t been able to deliver
Hey, you got out the parting "Toodle-loo,) okay, so you must be on the mend! Hope you're feeling better! 52 Crestline, 52 Ford F1
59/58.....nice rigs.
straight 6 is my favorite engine, even slant 6's are dependable and replaceable.
I was thinking, Ohhhh, J... too many Marlboro's and too much Jack! LOL Hope you're feeling better! WYR: 1) '52 Crestline 2) '54 Country Squire. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the late 50's/ early 60's Ford design. The exception being the 1960 model year and the '64 Galaxie... which was my very first car that I bought at 15, and it had the 223 6. Now days, Earthjustice and the EPA would be hunting me down for driving it. Everything leaked, leaving toxic little pools behind and the oil smoke was choking to anyone unfortunate enough to behind me. But I loved it. It was my first car and will always cherish each memory... including the day the gas tank fell off and I drive around with a 5 gallon gas can in the trunk for a tank after that... LOL
Haha I don’t smoke or drink ( I might have one double captain here and there but not often rum over whiskey for me ) sweet choices happy this video could bring those memories back
I don't remember what was the top end/oiling problem with the 223? Did it tend to sludge up and block oil passages and chew up pushrods and rocker arms?
Yep …
Another great episode, Jay! Thank you for putting this one out when you are not feeling well. And I'll take the '55 and the '58 Del Rio Ranch Wagon.
Sweet choices =) I needed to do an episode anytime I go along stretch without making a video. I feel like I’m letting the bass down.
I have a 215/3spd that will be going into a '26 T Coupe sometime soon!
Sweet that’s a different engine conversion way to think outside the box
I'll be greedy and take All of Them! 😊😊😊
Hahaha sweet
I'd take the '59 Ford coupe and the '58 2dr. wagon. You could get the first of the Ford FE V8's. Plus, '58 was the first year of the Cruise-O-Matic, although the 3sp. Ford-O-Matic was still available. You had to watch out with the '59 Fords because that was the 1st year of Ford's first 2sp.automatic and Ford's 1st aluminum-cased automatic. This transmission was most common in the '59-'60 Edsels. Ofcourse, when the Falcoon(that's what we called them) was introduced in the Fall of '59, that was the only automatic you could get in those into '64.
The I block and Y block used the same Brook Park transfer line tooling at the new Cleveland Ohio plant, and piloted the use of the same bore spacings as the 1962 Small Block Ford and 1969 and 1970 Windsor and Cleveland 335 engines. 4.38".
Thank you so much for adding this information but you should bring up the 335 series that was going to be the engine episode featured this week but I kept running into problems.. it’s hard to find absolute base horsepower and maximum horsepower of the 351 Cleveland
@@What.its.like. Lol, I've seen that too! Ford decided to stop supplying Ram Air and Non Ram Air HP figures, and had Air Pumps on LA market cars with a Dist-o-vac ignition timing lockout on some California cars, so it had multiple issues to contend with when the new 1970 Clean Air Act came out. Ford revised the M code engines from 11:1 quoted compression, with 300 HP gross in 1970, to 330 HP net in the 11:1 European DeTomaso Pantera that year, to 10.7:1 compression and 285 HP in the 1971 M code, with a compression ratio drop to 9.5:1, and then 330 hp gross in the approx "11:1" Boss 351 HO 4V R code, and then 280 hp gross in the Q code 351CJ for late 1971. Then the R code became a briefly six month 275 HP net engine, then the CJ became 266 or 261, or 256 depending on destination chassis for 1972 to 1973, then either 266 or 248 HP net in the Pantera L, or 246 HP net in the 1974 Torino. Ford changed the outputs due to Model year, and destination chassis. A good example is the 2V H code 250 HP gross engine, either a Cleveland 2v 351 in 1970, or a Windsor 351 2V in 1969. The M code was a 290 HP Windsor 351 in 1969 or a 300 HP M code Cleveland 351 in 1970. The figures were indicative of the engines, not absolute because Ford changed the engine specifications so much to suit the Federal Motor Vehicle Emissions Standards differences between California and the 49 states. Don't get too worried. Everyone knows the figures changed like the wind in those turbulent years. Love your work...
What was funny was that Ford's first OHV 6 was actually just a hair more powerful(and way smoother) than the then current Ford flathead V8. I ran across a 1950 Ford car that had the OHV 6, at a car and parts swap meet. Caused me to do a double-take because I usually saw the 50's and 51's with flathead 6's, but mostly flathead V8's. Any of the 6's were rare because I think that the ones with flathead V8's mostly what was usually saved. The 6's became parts cars. Henry Ford hated 6's and refused to make them for a long time, eventhough Chevy's always had OHV engines and their inline 6's ran circles around a Ford V8.
Those 50’s-era Chevy-6’s were slow as hell. They couldn’t run circles around an old lady on a bike. The Ford flatheads were snails, too. If memory serves, the 1950 flathead had about a 3 mph top-speed advantage over the 216 Chevy6. They both would go just a bit above 80 …
I would take the 59 Ford,(Big fan of the 59 Fords),or the 58 Ford wagon. As all ways nice job Jay.
55 or 59 is tough call.
WYR: '55, F-1. Try some Fisherman's Friend lozenges.
I’m thinking so many lozengers that I’ve got ulcers in my mouth
type34
the bus for family the bug or ghia are the funnest to drive (busses are not, except for the smiles and waves) the ghia looks a bit more manly although i drive a 67 bug daily and a 69 bus too good video I rarely comment
Dad always regretted that he didn't get the Mileage Maker 6 in our 1955 Ford instead of the V-8, which was a noisy engine prone to overheating if the ambient temperature was above about 70 degrees. Buyers of the 6 in the 1950s & early '60s avoided these problems. That '55 Ford was overall a clunky, junky vehicle which Dad was glad he could trade in 1960 for a Chevrolet Bel-Air which was a world's better car.
I'll take anything with a straight six and RWD, whether it's American, Japanese or German. Wonderful smooth, torquey engines that are usually easy to work on.
Well, that was fun.
59 Fairlane 58 Ford Wagon When you think about it it's almost unbelievable to think that Ford went for so long without an overhead valve 6 cylinder engine. In fact it was Edsel who pushed Ford into the 6 cylinder flathead era. I remember reading in my Ford in the thirties book that Henry detested 6 cylinder engines as he thought they were flawed and had too much vibration in their inherent design. Edsel was smart enough to realize that Ford was losing sales to other models of cars that had more power with their 6 cylinder engines. Henry really didn't care because he had a team working on the V8 which very few people knew about. Henry Ford knew that the V8 was going to be a game changer in that price range.
WYR Crestline WYR 1954 Ford wagon Sorry you are suffering. I was wondering who it was for the first part. Get better soon. Thx Jay
1959 Ford Fairlane Skyliner Retractable - here in Western Washington that would be the ultimate rain country convertible.
Awesome choice I’ve never saw that with a six has to be rare
@@What.its.like. I honestly don’t know. You could probably order it, but I’d guess most folks who could afford a retractable would order a Y-bock V8.
FE was available by then which is the superior engine at that point
1955 FORD FAIRLANE. 1958 FORD FAIRLANE .
Jay, I hope your voice gets better! My dad bought a used 63 Galaxie in 64. It was almost, but not quite the base model. 223 6 cyl, 3 on the tree, no power anything. It even had a manual choke! It did have a radio, whitewall tires and full wheel covers. That was it. OMG, what a dog! On a trip out west, we were in 2nd gear, engine screaming trying to climb the mountains. On one long grade, a 66 Cadillac passed us going *at least* 40mph faster than we were going. Dad hated that car, he was an old hot rodder who got talked into buying the car by a glib salesman. In 66, he bought a new 65 LTD with a 390. THAT was much more to his liking! Only good thing I can say about the 223 is that it always ran.
WYR= That green 49-51 Mercury in the background of the 52 Ford. Parents had a 51 2 door Merc, same shade green, it was the first car I remember riding in. (I was 1 or 2 yrs old)
Hi Jay! Hope you are feeling better! Those engines did have an oiling problem in the upper reaches. My Dad had a 1955 Ford Pickup (I'm pretty sure it was a 1955) when I was LITTLE. It eventually broke down and stopped running, and Dad said it was something to do with the head, so. . . But that was back in 1967 or 1968, so it had provided LOTS of service. My brother had a traffic accident when in high-school and temporarily had his license suspended, so Mom and LITTLE me drove him over to the next big city every time he was scheduled to work at the Burger Chef. We took the pickup truck, because the family car had been totalled in the accident, as I remember. One day, Dad was at work, and the pickup was sitting there in the driveway and LITTLE me hopped up into the cab. There was this black button on the dash, so what do you do? It's a button, you push it! It was the starter button, of course and that truck was in second gear, and lurched forward! I was scared and jumped down out of that cab like a shot! Fortunately, the engine didn't start, or the truck would have been driving itself across the fields until it finally stalled or hit something! NEVER just pushed buttons after that! WYR The first group I want all of them! Second group I want that truck, just for the memories!!
Well you still squeezed out tootaaloow😂!!!!
I was wondering how that would come out!
I was surprised it worked, because I tried to do falsetto. I had a joke that I was going to say what would you rather have the voice, deep voice or falsetto but I couldn’t do falsetto in the very beginning.. most of this was all taken in one take which I was really surprised
@@What.its.like. The first few seconds of the video, I didn't think it was you!
I let my wife listen to the beginning and I tried to do it the way that I normally do it whenever I say the year is whatever.. but I couldn’t get my voice to sound like that crackled and broke a lot so I was like I’m gonna do it like this and then whenever it could get to a point where it would drop down in I just took it from there =)
Since I already have a 79 mar v I would take the mark IV
Sweet =)
Dr Saxlove Groovin on a Sunday Afternoon
'59 Police Interceptor ! not sure but it might have had the "B" pillar (helped hold the roof against collapsing in case of a rollover,P.D. s might have required it on cars being considered)
Times were definitely different when 7:1 could be considered high compression
58 wagon my choice. Feel better dude.
The song is Grooving (on a sunday afternoon) by the young Rascal's
Yeah buddy congratulations you got it =)
If you want something psychedelic, try the Rascals' "Find Somebody". 😊
i know the 223 inline six is pretty close to square bore, and stroke. i didn't know went under square on their 262.

WYR: 54 customline, 51 f -1 I had a 58 ford wagon right after high school, so, I know what to expect from that.
=) awesome choices
Hope you get to feeling better soon Jay. After the flatheads Ford struggled to make a decent engine till the Falcon 6, FE series, and the SBF came along. WYR goes the the 55 Fairlane, and the second choice has to be the 52 F-1 since I had one of those.
I feel a lot better just want my voice back lol Sweet choices
WYR#1 '59 Fairlane WYR#2 '54 Ford wagon
Sweet choices
Edsel also used the 223 in 1959 and 1960 Rangers and Villagers
Awesome thank you so much for adding that =)
And the flathead six was a truck only engine so the mileage maker was Fords first car six. Was the mileage maker heaver than the flathead? No, V8 was 525 pounds, so it was close.
The flathead 254 six was a truck engine. The 226 flathead six was the car engine. Starting in 1941 I believe.
The flathead was available across fords line www.conceptcarz.com/s10931/ford-deluxe.aspx The mileage maker 6 was 502lbs the flathead was 527lbs Oldsmobile rocket v8 weighed 671 and up
WYR: Ford Fairlane and the F1 - heck, with those 2, you could do whatever you wanted. Name that tune - Sonny and Cher I Got you Babe?? In any event - feel better soon and thank you as always. ~ Chuck
Great choices not that song or band I feel a lot better just waiting for voice to come back lol =)

It's probably better to guess at "Name That Tune" NOW instead of waiting for the so-called "clue".
Hahaha I hope you guys enjoy this one. I’ve been under the weather for the last couple days and I lost my voice. The intro is a little bit different. Because I couldn’t get my voice to do it like normal =) I’m hoping to have it back tomorrow it was worse yesterday Name that tune I’m not sure if it will be easier or hard because it sounds completely different after TH-cam compresses it
