Glad to see I wasn't crazy for mining like this in 3.22 (current public version). I mined on Arial and got a ton of gold, tarinite, bexilite, and the random quantanium rock. I have my own Prospector by doing this. One of my runs netted me a cool 600+k of credits. That was two loads in a Constellation Andromeda. I was stoked that my experience was well worth my effort. I started off using a Cutlas Black. The rent was lower and yes I had to run many trips with the CB. I still made the credits to afford my own Prospector and kit it out. I also have earned enough to buy myself a Vulture. When mining gets boring. I go run some salvage missions and turn a good profit doing that. So being a miner/salvager is working out well. My style of passive play in the most of times is relaxed. I do get the occasional pirate encounter. The only problem is. I am empty and have nothing worth stealing. Why are pirate's stupid? I guess if they had a brain. They would be able to mine for themselves and not have to steal it. I digress, it has only happened a couple times and was just annoying more than immersive. Good luck to the others who do this method. It truly is a great way to make money. My tip is. Stick to the most valuable ore. Even if it will take you a few more minutes finding them to fill your cargo hold up. The end result is more credits in your account. My #1 targets are as follows. Bexilite, Tarinite, Gold, and then others. I will only scoop up Quantanium if it is the last thing that will fill my cargo. I don't risk it when it is the first thing I see. I want a full cargo. Yes, it may be worth more. The quantity of the others I could get verses say 700 or less of Quant. Is way more valuable in the refined form. There is the lack of a chance you will mess up and go critical. I don't like blowing up my ship. So, Quant is usually the last thing I will scoop when I find it. With waypoints coming in 3.23. We can mark these rocks now and come back to them. That will be awesome!! Looking forward to the changes and improvements are what we all are working towards. o7
My progression so far: Cutlass Black starter> ROC> Vulture> Prospector. I joined late in 3.22 and almost made enough for the Corsair after using the Vulture to buy the Prospector on the 80k scrap missions. I was only 500k away and still grinding when 3.23 dropped and I lost my vulture and 3 mill auec to the wipe. I was soo close, maybe a couple hours away from having 3-4 game loops covered. With my Vulture gone and the ROC broken the Prospector has been my saving grace for a path to prosperity despite the loop being relatively burdensome. Couldn't have made anywhere near the progress without video's like this. 👍💯
Love mining. Haven't hopped into it yet with 3.23. Spending all my time dogfighting, bounty hunting, etc checking and testing MM and new weapon changes. Once I get that figured I'll hop back into mining and salvage again. Nothing I love more than throwing on some music, a podcast or a good audio book and just relaxing while breaking rocks.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work. Also, with Invictus just starting up, a free to fly, and lead up missions to XenoThreat all running, stability probably won’t be a thing for a while.
@@jmcnear6688 for some reason I had around 50k when I started this patch. That and all my ships from 3.22. Might have something to do with my base currency (whats displayed on your profile on the website) is 34,000 UEC. Not sure where that came from...
Do you have somewhere the build for your “fully kitted out” prospector? Love to know what to upgrade as I own a prospector but have not used it in years. Thanks for the great video.

Another amazing video Hawkes, been looking forward to your 3.23 coverage as you always do an amazing job. Keep up the great stuff man you're one of my favs in the SC community
I played around with this over the weekend. Just selling raw ore can make you some good money. That will get you started, then once you get some money flowing in you can start paying to get it refined.
I was on Cellin last night in my Mole and found a Q rock 0f 56,000 mass and 49% Q. I couldn't get it as I was solo, but it is good to know that God rocks are out there! :) Nice vid.
thank you. very informative. I love your format as it is fast and concise. BUT I also would enjoy a little more background info. the "credits per hour" -> does that include changing ships, traveling to sell with the cargo ship ? what is also interesting is the exact job of refining -> cargo -> and then where exactly to sell. is selling refined materials depennding on supply & demand market mechanics ? thanks again. keep it up!
I tried the prospector (before the latets patches...51k to rent. Went and mined quantanium, taranite, beryl, gold etc, good stuff...ofc also some LQ stuff got in there, but not much. Came back to the refinery and picked the supposedly best but also slowest method. THING TOOK 48 HOURS! 48!! In the end my profit for all the hassle was 100 K or so. So I went back to mining gems, I like that 'game play' a bit better also :D
Another method that iv found to make alot of money to be quite enjoyable is doing routes with the Hull C. Now while it isn't obtainable in game im pretty sure, it is a really fun experience to do sole trading in space if you or a friend happen to have the ship. You can easily get over 200K of pure profits per run with little competition and no need to land planetside.
i've been mining using a rental prospector since i joined the game in 3.15.. never had a problem making money with it. just need to do enough runs to make back the rental cost plus profit
3:02 "almost everyone that starts playing will start with about 150k AUEC" I'm sorry, WHERE, once you make the account you get 10k by default, and 10k additional if you use a friend code, who on earth starts with 150k auec ? If you're a new player just do normal missions to start to get the hang of the game, do bunkers, they're fun now, do delivery missions ( they won't pay that much, but it will require you to learn the basics of scm and nav mode), you can try salvaging as well, these are all relatively simple and straight forward activities that requiere almost zero knowledge, so everyone can do them; as for prospector mining, you need to read a damn manual on internet to even understand how to switch to mining mode, then how to search for rocks, how to break them, what resources to pick, how to refine sstuf, how to haul stuff and how to sell it... so much work that a new player is most definitely not gonna be able to do and will either get bored or get stuck because of a bug or a problem in between
Sooo, what do i do after i refine the materials i mined with the prospector? I managed to rent a Cutlass Black for Cargo transfer, but now idk where to go to sell it. i'll try finding other tutorials that hopefully mention this part as well.

Considering refining takes like 9 hours I'm not sure I understand how you're saying you make more money refining your rocks instead of just directly selling them when I can just do a few runs and make more money in 2 hours directly selling those to the refinery. Great video nonetheless!
Base is a mere 5k. If you buy a WB ship or upgrade during a sale it bumps to 25k. Most people cant start with renting a prospector for 1 day, in fact only people who know the game well who dont need this guide will have enough to rent a prospector on day one.
I did some mining last night and dropped off 3 orders. Got my notification that they were ready for pick up. Showed up in my c1. That should hold 64 scu of cargo. I picked up 58 across 2 orders.. got to my ship only to find it empty and my orders gone. All the time wasted. New bug I guess
its still there the cargo was just invisible. It happened to me as well on my first run same with my buddy too. It can still be sold though so hope you didnt claim your ship.

What is the start money ? I bought like 200 K for real money back in the day , to Max the things on prospector , since wr have wipes every 3 month haha.
Fair warning: Everything that looks like a miner, salvager or hauler this update is being hunted more so than usual. I am guessing it is because of some bigger streamers playing right now.
Hello hawkes gaming I was asking if there's a way to make a video of the settings you use for star citizen. That helped me out and everybody else on the channel If you already have a video of the settings on a Star citizens, can you please let me know?I knew to the game I do not know what setting should I To make sure I get the best performance in game. If you can help. Me, please let me know big Bang.By the way thank you again
As a dedicated cargo hauler, I've noticed the increasing popularity of piracy as a gameplay feature. Surprisingly, I don’t mind it-piracy adds an exciting dimension to the game. However, there's a major concern that needs addressing: the unfair advantage pirates have when they attack traders in areas without comm stations. Currently, these attacks often go unpunished, and it's frustrating to be repeatedly ambushed by players this way and not being able to retaliate.
Well there is a possibility of a wipe coming if they dont fix a major exploit in selling things. If they dont nip it in the butt asap its going to ruin the data they are trying to collect on ship prices.
Only a few major issues here ... 78k to rent the ship plus i mined 11 trips first cost me over 150k plus i dont have a cargo ship big even to move anything thats another 50k i was in the hole for over 200k and made roughly 400k for 5hrs so not a huge gain ... Rented it again and 20 runs i was 316k in the negative .. Rented a c2 from invictis blew up losing everything from a 12hr mining run in 5min
it's just a visual bug. It's there. It's a bug that has come and gone a few times and seems to be back atm for some people. Take the ship to a TDD and you can sell it still.
@@Podokodo23 That's what I assumed, but it was in fact, not in my C1 when I went down planetside to sell. So my refining order vanished into the ether lol
Find somebody who owns an Argo Mole and pay them to steal the Argo Mole bags, put them on your owned prospector with multi tool tractor beam go from 32 scu to 48scu storage
Sorry for the misquote on starting money I should have checked the patch notes. I start with a bit more than the average player.
With tutorial completion, I had about 36k.
FlameSoulis has a good point, the tutorial gives you 15k just for completing it. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to recommend or give note to
I only started with 25K but kept all my ships and gear. Thats what I did at first to get about 250k, Starting cash for me.
i was about to say... 20k base
Would the Drake Cutlass be a better option overall Is compared to the ship in this video, even though its more expensive?

If im not mistaken if people buy the game with your link it gives you extra 5k a person
Yeah. Live patch notes say: Players will start with their base amount from their account ledger + the 20,000 starting aUEC.
I think I got the 25k.
Yeah I didn't think about that as I start with more than usual compared to many players due to the referral program.
This is awesome.
Good job:)
why do i start star citizen every wipe with like 15k or so?
why not a mention to prospecting in the Halo?
Can you do a Mole guide too? Would be the next upgrade path
the crashing thing is soooo much better, and to be fair it dont take as long as logging back in and losing all ya shit LOL
so 3mins is fine with me.. xD took me about 1 min on server i was on when i crashed today !
o7
What is the start money ? I bought like 200 K for real money back in the day , to Max the things on prospector , since wr have wipes every 3 month haha.
i dont get it why need 2 ships
one to mine and the other to cary things to refinery ?
omg
Fair warning: Everything that looks like a miner, salvager or hauler this update is being hunted more so than usual. I am guessing it is because of some bigger streamers playing right now.
Worth it if i only use titan?
Hawkes!!! Show us the ways to get space cheddar.
Well there is a possibility of a wipe coming if they dont fix a major exploit in selling things. If they dont nip it in the butt asap its going to ruin the data they are trying to collect on ship prices.
Looking forward to an in depth guide from the SC Legend. 🙂
The refined minerals do not appear in the ship for transport to sell. Big Bug!!!
it's just a visual bug.
I'll take the 3-5 min crash recovery over the 30k. Holy crap do new players have it good with this!
Find somebody who owns an Argo Mole and pay them to steal the Argo Mole bags, put them on your owned prospector with multi tool tractor beam go from 32 scu to 48scu storage
When cargo refactor finally comes in you can do it in the hanger all by yourself. The Mole and Prospector bags can already be bought at the refinery.
Even 1 vulture run can get you the same amount lol, if not more. Salvaging RMC is where it is at these days.
Yup right up until the great nerfening in 3.23 for rmc prices.
@@HawkesGaming Indeed. When that happens of course, for now though, salvaging is still the best bet to make quick auec.
@@HawkesGaming rmc didnt get nerfed, cm did.
