Great job ,very well explained and anyone who is just starting out will appreciate this video,I did not know the mole and prospector containers could be swapped out so it was well worth watching from beginning to end .Thank you as always for your quality work and dedication to your craft and to all the players from old to new of Star citizen we deeply appreciate it,I believe at this point watching your channel whether ship reviews no 1 A Quality videos' or Game play loops or site seeing around the verse to see interesting places to visit and explore or apply a trade is no longer an option but a true necessity to improving the Star Citizen experience throughout the verse, again thank you for your time.To you and everyone else, see you in the verse and have a great weekend.
@@Farrister thank you for the heads up,but I really want to torture myself like I have been playing this game for the last 3 years through every patch I want to experience it all, so I can tell others and complain how this alpha game isn't working right like everyone who tries it lol.Have a great day.
Question for miners in 3.23: Are you still able to mine reliably enough with the lag spikes/desync? I tried a little bit of ROC mining with a buddy recently, but when the server had a lag spike, we both got blown up because his laser kept feeding. He was new, but I had enough experience to shut my laser off as soon as I noticed it wasn't responding to my power adjustments. I've been wanting to get back into mining lately, but the servers are having a lot of these lag spikes right now, even on low population/high server FPS. Side note: people always think the servers are getting worse, but I actually think they're getting better. Since 3.23 dropped they've been all over the place - had some weeks where we saw "server error" every 30 minutes or so. But now instead of getting server crash/recovery, we just get these gnarly lag spikes periodically. Haven't seen a server error for almost a month (knocks on wood), and I've had a lot of really long play sessions. Looks like an improvement to me.
@@Farrister yeah only in caves, at least thats my latest info regarding jalanite. I was probably just a bit confused as you were discussing hadanite and jalanite being the most profitable while showing the roc the roc sized rocks on the refinery deck.
I really hoped you would describe how to change the ore bags that you purchase at the refinery and get it on your prospector. I didn't find a way to do that. Can't physicalize the bags out of the inventory and even if i could I can't use tractorbeams at the moment in a hangar.
Question: Farrister, with Kopion occupying some caves, has Hand Mining now become risky? And hand mineable out in the open, Particularly on both Microtech and possibly Hurston are they more risky now because of critters?
I can't speak for Hurston, but I cave dive occasionally on Microtech and have yet to encounter kopion in a cave there. Still, I wouldn't go unarmed just in case.
I just tested the purchasable pod option, still since those two purchase options have been made available you can' t use them. You can' t switch them out via VLM, or inside your hangar (since you can' t drop non carriables). You also can' t move them to your prospector so you would be able to switch outside of armistice. So the only option would be to use a donor Mole once again. Its sad :(
21:00 what's that weird toggle behaviour? In the past i could refine everything - now it seems selecting one disables the other and is super weird. Bug or feature?
Mining is one of my favourite things to do in game and I really do enjoy the solo Mole experience; the industrial roleplay immersion is great (but I do break this somewhat by flinging myself backwards down ladders to save time). Everything's set up for maximum relaxation, i.e. a Hofstede main laser with optimal window buffs, and I don't mind being limited to smaller-sized medium rocks since it'll still only take an hour (give or take) zipping around the Aaron Halo to fill up the Mole with ore. I'm not picky with what I mine as long as a rock has at least some tier 1 ore, and I'll usually end up with 30-50% tier 1s in a run. The only problem is when I've finally done enough runs to fill up the Caterpillar to go to the TDD, and I can't sell because of the cargo removal failure issue, but hey, that's Star Citizen :') Although I'm hoping being able to unload cargo to our hangars in 3.24 will solve this. Anyway, this is a fantastic guide and has everything I wish I knew starting out!
Question about the 12SCU bags that you can buy. How do you drop them to use on the Prospector? Iv tried to drop them in hanger / Carrack and it's not dropping
Really the only way i know of upgrading the prospectors bags is to get someone that has a mole (used to be able to just take salvage contract to find a mole) - Unlock the item ports on the mole and prospector and pull the bags off the prospector and out of the way so you can detach the bags from the mole and put them on the Prospector. It seems that thats no longer a thing in 3.24 - i tried and the mole bags were too tall to get underneath while the prospector is sitting on the ground. Next time im in the P.T.U. im going to ask a person to help me - ill hover the ship above the ground and see if they can tractor beam my mole bags onto the prospector
Can we transfer the ore from miners to a cargo ship, and then go to a refinery as well? My friends have mining ships and ground vehicles and i have my caterpillar. I would love to be useful for more than just post refining ^^' And i'm not even sure that i can transfer their refined ores into my ship or not.
ROC-DS is actually the best ROC even for solo mining. Its only real downside is that it's a little bigger, the rest is basically all upside. There I said it. The secret is out
@@Farristerwell, you should give it a try. I was skeptical myself and only tried it because I wanted to explore how it works anticipating some two player ROC mining. I discovered it's pretty substantially superior overall.
I'm having trouble getting into mining mode in my prospector and i don't remember it being this hard. I'm not in flt mode and the button is just M. I'm very confused. I think i am bugged.
Mining is a very intricate and complex gameplay compared to other PVE loops. Too bad the rewards are not as strong as say salvaging or combat missions.
Is this still a game or ist it already grinding work? i mean, if you do all that, why don`t you grind something in the real world that earns you something instead of paying for to work.
The art of salvage... wait, what?
You were just seeing if we were paying attn hu?!
This wasn't a very good guide to salvaging...
very good guide to mining. maybe the best I have seen so far
and I love your calm voice and clear structured video.

Excellent video dude. A profound amount of work must have went into this. Much appreciated 👍
Appreciate it, thanks - you are right, a lot of work!
i really love your videos! Keep up with this great work!
Thank you! Will do!
So peaceful and relaxing. I don't see many players gathering people for mining operations anymore. Thanks for the great guide, Farrister!
I know how to mine but watched anyway, your videos are always so well explained and relaxing to watch! Keep up the good work sir!

Space power wash also great

I'm part of an org, United Space Confederation, details in video description!
