Since yesterday (2024.08.07 this grinds became much more easier. :)))
The method is the same, but the quantities are much-much higher...

@@GamernetsLP I'm busy doing the raw material grind part of this, and it doesn't seem any different from what is shown in the video. It is also the least painful part of the grind though, and is going quite quickly, it's taking me about an hour to fill up on each of the high end commodities.

I can't tell if the farm still works or not. I've tried shooting brain trees with flak with multiple game and computer restarts and I'm still getting a "No valid collection targets" message.

Im on Xbox and the flax cannons dont dislodge resources and when u farm them with SRV and leave mats on ground they disappear in ship so i can't test limpets nothing on radar

FYI it does appear that Fdev attempted to nerf the render distance it takes to make the brain trees despawn. The easy work around to still farm the brain trees with limpets is to set your model draw distance to low. This will then counteract the recent nerf to draw distance allowing you to continue to use limpets to farm the brain trees. Many commanders report that this method works great!

Unfortunately reducing the model draw wasn't enough for me, I had to also reduce my *terrain quality from ultra to low (just noticed @Pizzaguy says that below lol). Glad we were able to find these workarounds, I love this method! You're the best Hawkes o7

    • @stevenheckel5033

Also, if there's any chance you have coordinates for all the patches, that would be epic! Not too hard to find the ones where you drop in as we can see them in your HUD, however I've had crazy unlucky timing and mostly wind up there when it's dark, so finding the other 2 Polonium patches for instance has been difficult. If not, all good man, this has been so helpful already!!

You would think that a company that has got itself in such a poor financial state with many bad decisions would find a better way to spend developer time than making an already ridiculously time consuming activity just a little more annoying. Trying to make material gathering harder is not the best choice for player retention.

Being able to farm Raw materials like this is such a QOL W, since one of the reasons I kinda gave up on elite was because of how much I absolutely despised the old method of farming raw materials with the SRV. It was actually maddening.

For some manufactured materials there are some systems worth checking:
Core Dynamics Composites: Check LTT 3010 and LP 413-18. These systems spawn an endless amount of high grade emissions with this material and the grade 4 of this same type.
Imperial Shielding: Check Laguz and 21 Eridani. I was told that these systems behave like the 2 systems above but for Imperial Shielding.
When using these systems you don't even have to relog, you can just fly to all the HGE's that are available and fill up in no time.

But antimony was definitely exactly where you said it would be. But today (Aug 28, 2024), I went back, exact same spot, exact same 4 patches shown by the 4 red dots in the picture, and nothing but low grade materials. Not sure if its just me. Encoded wasn't that bad though. And I need a couple of more trips to top off on RAW.

I engineered a dolphin for this used missile racks while not quite as effective as flak cannons, still works well and the small ship is highly maneuverable compared to larger ships, so makes finding patches quick. I am limited to 1 limpet out at a time but I did equip a 5E cargo rack, with carriers in the system for restocking it is actually quite a great little ship for this and low budget for new players

For anyone material grinding after the Engineer fix, here are some takeaways from my experience.
I started with barely any G3/G4/G5 (didn't need or get them much as an explorer) and finished with full Manufactured and Raw, full Encoded up to G4, ~20 in each G5.
Manufactured is by far the easiest part of the farm.
One HGE is enough to fill up one G5, or at least half of that if you get a mix of G4/G5. Just drop in, release collector limpets and you're done.
The only problem I've encountered is targeting a specific material, e.g. you can get Core Dynamics/Proto Heat/Proto Radiolic in one Federal Boom system, but sometimes it's just one of those in a row. Pharmaceutical Isolators is the most painful one, but if you don't have any luck with them - trading shouldn't be a big issue.
Raw was a bit annoying, I've seen the comments about remote farming not working reliably and went with an SRV.
Finding the landing spot and then the trees themselves is painful, especially if the spot happens to be on the dark side. And obviously SRVs control as badly as they were 10 years ago.
Other than that it's decently fast, took me 2 trips (with visits to all planets) to fill up all my materials. Only had to soft relog on 2 planets.
    Encoded is the worst.
It took FDev almost a decade to fix Engineers and they've still forgotten about one of the main issues with material grinding - trading.
On paper Encoded should be pretty easy. Scan the 9 beacons, soft relog and scan again, that's enough to fill up G4 and G5. Except, after trading, that's just enough to get 20 G5 materials in another category. One trip to Jameson's Cobra and back to the Trader took me ~18 minutes on a good day; assuming I need to fill up G5 for all 5 other materials - I'll need 25 trips (500/20); that totals to 7.5 hours of going back and forth without any engaging gameplay.
Due to that I recommend doing Encoded either first or last, and probably don't fill up your G5 too much.

      @NorthernerInSpace หลายเดือนก่อน

I am doing Encoded at the moment and I started really empty. This is a real grind. I can get between the planet and the trader in about 5 minutes but it is still depressingly slow! The 6-1 and 36-1 ratios are very mean!

Great video, however I have some recommendations:
    1. Try to have all critical information at the start of each section. There were a few times we were already fairly into a section of the guide only to get an "oh yeah, don't forget this lol" and someone might be playing/pausing the video to be in sync and then they too get to that point and don't have the thing because they weren't told initially.
    2. Similar to the above, but I would have really appreciated a heads up on the two missing manufacturing materials and maybe a recommendation to farm the Imperial Shields first and trade them vertically to those two first initially just so they're out of the way. I ended up trading every tier 4 and 5 material I had collected up until that point, but now I'm wondering if I should have just grinded the Imperial Shields...honestly probably the later, but then again I just did a run of Imperial Shields trading to Biotech Conductors and I'm kind of glad I don't have to do this for as long as I would have.
Hopefully we all get lucky and benefit from the engineering changes even after all this grinding.

I've found that farming all HGEs with 20+ minutes on them and then using the traders to trade for what i need. Starting from Jameson Memorial i can usually max out a grade 5 within 8 nearby populated systems . 45 minutes per loop to max out 1 grade 5 trade and repeat.

    Question:
I've been searching for a while. Based on the video, I have not found a single ruthenium. Ruthenium positions can not be found.
Even on a other planet it is the same, no ruthenium found.
Can someone please show me the exact positions.
    Thank you.

Very useful. As to raw mats, I'd leave the Selenium moon til last because it's where you can most easily find chunky T4 drops to trade down and fill out the rest of the collection. And when flaking for ram mats even when the surface is light it's worth engaging night vision. Makes it easier to catch the point at which the trees derender.
I do have a gripe with FDev though. Some of us (or at least me) bought this game because we want to fly spaceships and if we'd wanted a low gravity badly designed golf buggy simulator we'd have bought one. Of course it does add to the general sense of the "universe" and I'm sure some people enjoy it. But my point is that there is no efficient way of grabbing emissions without SRVing. For the ship version there's just really tedious wake sniffing. Okay, 3 for 1 now, but still.
Oh and I have done the irritating golf buggy dodgems for a lot of stuff (including Guardian kit) but there should be a shipbound alternative.

Having the hardest time trying to get Technetium again after trading down everything (I am on my second run of grade 4 mats). I got all of my Technetium (from the first run) from HR 3230 - 3 a a, but cant find any on Wregoe SB-Z b41-2 - A 1 a. The crater looks different from the one in the video (and I have check and double checked to make sure I am at the right location). May just be me, but ever time I find a patch of brain trees there, the collector limpits....well go limp. Very frustrating that I can't seem to find anymore Technetium again. I even tried going back to HR 3230 - 3 a a to find it, with no luck.

Shock Mines work GREAT! One does the job of half a dozen flack shells. I mounted mine on the underside front bay of my python. Hover directly above the target at about 500m AGL - nose down - pitch up to about -35 degrees - release the mine - target it and watch it fall! Then reverse up to about 1.2km (or whenever the crystals or braintrees, etc. derez) and let loose the limpets.
