    Top review John, as per. I really like this ML; don't know why, it just 'makes me smile'. If only ML had gone the extra mile and made the 540 Vanquish a 'stand alone' water-proof unit! Madness, for me, that they did not, 'for a few dollars more' it would've taken the market, in it's class, with it's cont' multi IQ. Not the build quality of it's nearest rival, nor waterproof, don't know about the manufacturers level of back-up?? but still a great little machine I reckon. Stay safe man.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I must be honest I laughed at it when it was first released. The color does not do it for me...looks like an Garrett Ace....buttons are mushy. Just was not impressed. Once I used it a couple times it really grew on me. If they would have made it waterproof...it would have been a nightmare for the Simplex and Apex both. I think they wanted to have a clear gap from the 600....and there for sure is.

    Thanks for the gold nugget demo ! NO ONE talks about that into detail.. The Pro Pack has a 8 inch coil, and the large coil is 12 inch... in the pro pack. I'm wondering if... this machine will work in highly mineralized soil, like they have in AZ. and Nevada. NO ONE talks about that... AND AND AND... what frequency RANG is this machines Multi-IQ.?? Like the Equinox 600 has a 15kHz frequency... AND the two higher ones of the 800 20kHz & 40kHz... but those 2 can't be accessed in manual freq. mode. The X-Terra 705 has a 18.75kHz frequency and is considered by Minelab to be a gold machine. I haven't been able to find out what range the V.540 is. I assume.. it could possible be a 3 frequency machine... a little like the Equinox 600. Excluding the top two that can be accessed in Auto Freq. Mode. But if the high range is up close to 20kHz... it would be capable of a nugget shooter.
    And the jewelry mode of the V. 540 does pick up those gold nuggets you demoed . I just wish I could find out... what the 540's frequency range is. AND AND AND... Multi IQ thing is suppose to use all the frequencies it has... if so... why didn't the nuggets sound off in Relic & Coin modes. Why does Mine Lab HAVE SECRETS ?? This is driving ME CRAZZZZZZZZY !!! Oh... and... good video.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Minelab will likely never say what exact frequency processing is going on without a leak of some sort. Which is plausible on a forum....might be able to glean some info from one of the big 3 forums...or even Geotech forums.

    • @WilliamR-nt5ek
      @WilliamR-nt5ek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thehuntergt This is what I found out... about freq. for the Vanquish.
      From Minelab...William,
      Thank you for your email. The frequency range for the Vanquish is the same as Equinox 5khz - 40khz. Vanquish will only run in multi, and as we do with the Equinox, we do not share what frequencies are being run when in multi. Equinox frequencies vary in multi, based on the mode. For Vanquish, the set of frequencies is the same in all modes, however the recovery speed changes. Coin mode recovery would equal 5 on Equinox, Jewelry would equal a 4, and relic and all metal equals a 2.
      OH... and just curious.. the small nuggets... do you remember the ID numbers?

    Here's the hardest question of all, - no one has been able to answer this for me...
    What frequencies does the Vanquish transmit on simultaneously?
    I heard 3 frequencies from someone, but I never heard that all 5 are being used (5,10, 15, 20, 40khz)

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Minelab has never said as far as I know, but I would guess it is the same as a Nox 600. Somebody would have to throw it on an oscilloscope to be certain.

    Simplex for the win lol I bought one of these mine labs and I did not think it was a great detector just my 2 cents but I've owned every brand except deus and my problem was how noisy and chattey it was I tried to use it as a relic and coin machine and my gold kruzer or gold bug or gm1000 did better then this thing but maybe it's my red clay soil idk but hope you guys have better luck

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Simplex is for sure the better built detector - no doubt about that. I did enjoy the Vanquish performance, it was very good in my harsh soil. It is not Gold Kruzer in iron...that is for sure. The GK is right up there with the XP machines when it comes iron testing.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  ปีที่แล้ว

      The GM1000 is a high frequency detector...so it is tuned more towards mid conductors like aluminum/gold/zinc. It will for sure hit small copper nuggets, but at less depth compared to same sized gold or aluminum. I would personally use any hobby detector in the 5 to 20kHz range over the GM1000.

The reason is not only does it change the recovery speed and depth but from what i was reading online it changes the frequency bias. jewelry mode supposedly has a bias for the higher frequencies i wonder how it would have faired.

      A fair point - but that information was not available at the time of this review. Minelab is very secretive of their technology and how it performs - the manual is very limited. This video was shot before the Minelab rep spilled the beans on the internals during a podcast.
      Similar to the Nox...it likely would have tested the gold and nickel range objects better...with diminishing returns on the high conductors like silver/copper.

    Doesnt the Vanquish 540 run the same multi frequencies as the Equinox 600? Thanks for your assistance on this.

    • @thehuntergt

      Minelab is pretty tight lipped about that and I've seen 10 different versions of an answer on forums/websites.

    I have a question can you switch between frequencies on the vanquish like you can with the equinox 800 and hunt with one single frequency or is it multi-all the time ?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is multi all the time unless an update fixes it.

    • @thehuntergt

      No. Jewelry mode filters out only iron. The entire gold and silver range will be present. Since gold encompasses the entire aluminum range - you will still dig some trash.

      Maybe if you polish it enough. They are both pretty similar in iron. I'd give the Simplex the edge in aluminum trash....Vanquish the edge on deeper targets in wide open spaces. Just my opinion.

    In your opinion, does the 8 inch coil pick up the picker and gold grain better? I'm impressed.
    Surface Bedrock gold can be detected. Thanks for the review, John.
    I use my T2 to discern the amount of black sand in an area in gold bearing streams. I usually find gold with it using that method.
    Coupled with The Vanquish 540, surface Bedrock gold can be discovered.
    Of course, I'm mainly purchasing The 540 as a respectable salty beach detector. Gold rings pays for an upgrade to purchase an equinox.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smaller coil is slightly more sensitive yes. T2 will pick up that small piece too. Not sure how you feel about Garrett but the new Ace APEX is actually more sensitive than the Simplex and Vanquish both on that small gold. It is very good on the beach too...as good as the Vanquish in my opinion. They are both great either way.

      @@thehuntergt I was just looking at the apex's specs. I already own the vanquish 340. It's air test depth is outstanding. I did want the other two coils, one of many reasons for wanting the vanquish 540. Backlight, skid plates, multi iq, etc. Thanks, John!

    I'm swinging a White's M6 and looking to get a new detector since White's went out of business. Do you know if this would be a good replacement? I was also looking at a Garrett. I don't know how this 540 compares to a comparable Garrett detector.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you would enjoy this 540 quite a bit coming from a M6. As far as performance, this beats anything Garrett has in it's lineup including the new Ace APEX...in my opinion. It is not waterproof like the AT Pro or AT Max...but it is deeper - faster - better separator.

      @@thehuntergt bullshit lmao!! have you even used the ace apex for over 100 hours? The ace apex smashes the equinox in every way possible especially on the beach lmao!!! there is no comparison. The design is built far better the design on the equinox feels like a cheap plastic toy lol. Not only can the ace use 4 single frequency modes but it also has 2 multi frequency modes. the separation is not that great on the vanquish and the apex performs far better in heavy iron areas. you minelab fan boys are funny lol
