Thank you for stopping by to view the video and for your comment. Would love to have you as a subscriber from Australia. Hoping someday I can make it out to Victoria or Ballarat to do some detecting!
Minelab Vanquish 540 is the best detector for beginners I’m convinced. Super easy to operate and it flat out finds stuff with accurate discrimination. For the price you’d be a fool not to.
I ordered the 540 but know nothing about it when it arrives. Thanks for the tutorial. Not sure how to really set it up for say coins and jewellery but if I figure it out does it save the settings after it is turned off? Thanks. Great video.
Yes it does save the settings, all modern detector do this. The programs that come with the machine right out of the box are fantastic for coins. Make sure you do the update as soon as you get it as you want to make sure you get the Iron Audio feature. You will have fun with it and dig many nice treasures! Thanks for the view and comment!
I’m in the process of getting a metal detector and this one definitely catch my attention, I have found randomly walking bunch of nails and bolts but for my understanding of this video you can set it up for kinda ignore those signals right?
Correct! We all dig some iron and nails now and then but to find the good coins, relics and jewelry you see others finding on TH-cam, you need to find really good sites where no other metal detectorist has been. But the machine should discriminate out most of the iron. Thank you for your view and comment!
Thank you for your view and comment! Absolutely is a great upgrade to a bounty hunter machine. I hope you will subscribe to my channel and keep an eye out for other reviews. I have a couple contenders at this same price point and you could watch the videos before you make your purchase decision.
Thanks for your great review. I am in Australia and just purchased this model. I am waiting for it to arrive however, for a first time purchase you have set my mind at rest. Thanks mate 😃
So good to see you say this! This is exactly what I am trying to accomplish with these reviews, to make you feel like you know what your buying (good or bad). With this machine, it really is the best bang for the buck and is built to last as well. Wishing you all the best! Cheers!
@@BrassMedic Being in the IT Field whenever I buy equipment I want to know I can update the firmware which keeps it current and provides the ability to add new features.
That was a really solid review of a metal detector. My husband watches the weirdest shit on TH-cam and most of it is …. When you apologized for the length, I was like nah, this was actually interesting and well done. So hey, Carry on and keep finding cool stuff and making videos
I own the CTX 3030, Equinox 800, Gold Monster 1000.....point I want to make is the CTX is and excellent coin machine but is a terrible gold nugget machine. It will find gold rings all day long because of what I call roundness like coins. Mostly Deus guy, run the high frequency coils mostly in full tones. Enjoy your videos, hope to meet someday....I’m in the Placer, Nevada, Yuba county junction area for now.
Hi Bryan, I also have those same detectors and my CTX3030 is my absolute go to machine for relics. And I absolutely love the gold monster as well. I'm sure our paths will cross some day out there someday soon. Thank you for the view and comment! Best of luck, Mark
I am very torn between vanquish and simplex+ I've seen reviews on both. Im just starting out and both are at my max as far as price. I did see a fisher but not to sure. Please let me know witch 1 to get as I can not decide. Thank you
Very tough to choose between those two. The Simplex+ can be closely compared to the Equinox 800. The cost difference between the two is pretty substantial, maybe try the Simplex first (they are very easy to sell used) then cross grade to a better machine down the road.
Thank you for the view and question. I would choose to detect in all metal mode with iron audio on. And practice on some throwdown nuggets. I would make sure that I was really careful to ground balance the machine and run the sensitivity as high as possible.
I just purchased one. And when I swing it on the grass it make a lot of different noises. I noticed when you swing yours its quite. What do I need to do. Please advise. Thanks
Hi Robert, there could be many reasons for that. The obvious issues could be your swinging it in your yard in a neighborhood or an area where there is lots of below ground wiring or construction trash under your lawn. Another common issue is your swinging it over an area that has many metallic targets buried like an old homesite that burned down many years ago where in the fire, all the nails dropped straight to the ground and the machine is hearing all of them at once. Or if neither of those reasons, perhaps your soil conditions or very highly mineralized (red dirt) and your sensitivity is set too high for the unstable soil condition. As far as any other reason related to a setting or defect, this is rare but possible. But a good test would be to drive to an area where there should be no reason that any metal should be there and not in a neighborhood and try it there, it should be very quiet and stable, if not call your dealer and ask them if they can check it out for you. I'll be honest, I do live in an area with highly mineralized soil and because of that, it is rare that I can run any machine on full sensitivity without it making lots of chatter. Thank you for the question and for viewing the video!
Love The Vanquish........ Digging 7 Inch Nickels at my local Park with solid ID and Screaming Audio ....... My Back in the Day Detectors costing over $1000 could Not do this.
That is very impressive! Not a lot of machines that can do that, even today. Great value in this detector for sure. Thank you for watching and your comment!
Thank you for your view and question. There are no differences other than size as they are the exact same in every way except size. They do have advantages over each other though. A smaller coil always has a benefit over a larger coil in that it doesn't expose itself to multiple targets all co-located in the ground due to its smaller footprint. This is advantageous because your circuitry is always trying to ignore iron such as nails so a silver coin surrounded by nails is difficult to hear with a large coil because the machine detects so many nails it can block the coin signal. You do lose depth but that is one advantage over a large coil where you get more coverage and deeper detection but at the cost of less target seperation. And lastly, let's not forget that there is an advatge in a smaller coil for its lighter weight, therefore easier to swing over time.
Hello and thanks for great video! I am at 1 minute to buy the Vanquish 540 Pro but i was wondering how deep in water can you use it? I am little river and creek and there sides? Thank in advance!
Hi Frank! So the coils are completely waterproof and can be fully submerged. But the control box is only water resistant and should not be submerged underwater. However should be fine if used in the rain or if a little water splashes on it. If your looking to go underwater completely in creeks you should look at other machines like the Notka Makro Simplex +. Thanks for the question and view, best of luck.
@@BrassMedic Thanks for the advises! I wont go diving with it just playing littles rivers and cricks most of it! I am anxious to get it!! Where i live there are over 1000 lakes, rivers and cricks within 200 km so a lots of fun relaxing in nature for me!! Thanks again and good luck in your search!
Unfortunately that is proprietary information that the company does not share. Nor will they discuss which frequencies. My guess it 4. If someone had an oscilloscope, they could figure it out quick. Wish I knew the answer but thank you for the view and comment!
Terry, thank you for the view and question/comment! I think it was more about masking rather than depth so your right, an open screen and the 6" Coil should absolutely hear that 22 bullet. If you email me at the email address at the credits at end of video or in the description of video above. I can share my CTX3030 program and you can check it out in the Minelab XChange software. I don't remember exactly what program the CTX3030 was running on that day but my guess is "Cherry Pick" so that is a program with heavy discrimination. Thanks again!
Hello mate, do you think Vanquish 340 is worth buying, or to pay double for 540. I read somewhere that apart from Iron bias both machines are similar in depth for coins and jewelry. Is it worth to pay double. Cheers.
Hello, at this point I would have to recommend the new Minelab X-Terra Pro over the Vanquish 340 but if you really need multi-frequency the Vanquish 540 is worth the upgrade from the 340. I have a really good video on the Xterra-Pro that you should watch. Thanks for the view and comment/question!
Yes, we typically find lots of lead when looking for gold and if your detecting small bullets and pieces of lead, you know your not missing much gold. They have very similar conductivity, in other words, if your hearing gold, your going to hear lead too and vice-versa. Thank you for the view and comment!
It really depends... They are so even it depends on a few factors/questions. What type of detecting will you be doing? What type of sites? Will you be at the beach or near Salt water? Will you be detecting in heavy iron and nails? Will you be detecting in wet weather? Detecting for gold nuggets? You can email me at the email address in the description and I will give you a full answer if you can answer these questions above. Cheers, Mark 🤠⛏️
@@janegrieve yes it is but that's only 1 of the many ailes inside just like that, it's shoulder to shoulder inside on most days, so much inventory inside, amazing they can fit all of that inside that building. Cheers!
Hello and thanks for the view and question. Battery life is approximately 10 hours on a full charge in fair weather/temps. Can be less in really cold or extreme heat.
Was planning to purchase the Mine Labs Vanquish 440 here in my region. It will be on sale for $300 . So the only diffrance between the 540 and the 440 will be : The included Pin pointer, The Wireless Wi-Fi Headset and the Rechargeable batteries kit ? So can i upgrade my version 440 to a 540 by purchasing the same pin pointer , the same Batteries recharging kit and and adapter module kit with Wi-Fi headphones. Is there a site that you could recommend for buying these parts or is it even possible ?
I have never been metal detecting before and only recently considering doing so!! Loved your review video on this machine ! How does the Minelab equinox 600 compare as I'm thinking of getting one. Do you have a video on the equinox range ? Cheers from Adelaide South Australia
Hey buddy I have an Equinox and a 540. I will be honest I have found just as much with the Vanquish as I did with the nox . I'm liking the shaft better too. Of course it hasn't as much controllability but I found with the nox I only used very few adjustments anyway. Just my thoughts.
Hi there, I can highly recommend the Equinox 600 over this machine for many reasons. If you have the chance to buy either you would have to go with the Equinox for sure! Best of luck!
Great review, Would this be a good all around detector for beach and relic hunting I live in Virginia and do alot of coin / relic a Jewelry Hunting, Im currently using a Whites Classic Id detector for the last ten years which I Really like ,Do you think that this detector you're doing a review on would be a better upgrade, Or do you think I should look further...Great review... just Subscribed
Thank you for your comment/question and for the subscription. Your budget is the biggest factor in choosing another machine to upgrade your Whites Classic ID. On the low end of budget I can highly recommend the Makro Notka Simplex machine, it would be a significant upgrade from your current machine plus fully waterproof, wireless headphones and incredible performance. At the next budget tier look at this machine, the Garrett Ace Apex and the Makro Kruzer. At the next budget tier look at the Minelab Equinox 800 or 600 and the XP Orx. At the top budget tier look at the Minelab CTX3030 or the XP Deus. Honestly the best machine out of all of these for what your doing is either the XP Orx or the XP Deus with the white high frequency round coil. Another incredible jewelry machine (maybe none better) is the Whites MXT!!! Hope this helps, for any more questions, find my email in the description of this video and feel free to ask away! Happy Hunting!
Nice to have a 2300 dollar machine that hardly pick up a gun case .. Even nicer to have a 350 dollar machine that does 🙏🏽 What a grret and infotmative video Thanks fir sharing
I would just say it's ok at detecting gold nuggets but the circuit is not designed to be good or great for small gold nuggets. I would suggest the Minelab Equinox 800, XP Deus or Garrett ATX for gold nuggets and all-around performance. But for just nuggets the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 is phenomenal at finding gold nuggets! But it's just for gold.
Hello, the answer is yes! Great for beginners and intermediate as well. Easy to use and learn. Very capable, powerful machine for the price. Thank you for your view and question!
All very good until the two sets of batteries won't fully charge and the control box cracks from shaft movement . I converted mine to straight shaft and I use Varta batteries . Minelab quality is really sad .
Thank you for the view and comment! Can you email me at my email address in the video description and show me what your talking about? Would love to see pics of the area that failed and any info you may have on the batteries! Yes, it's too bad that some machines need us to have to buy aftermarket "upgrades", I mean these machines are out in the rugged outdoors and getting swung, banged into obstacles, picked up and set down over and over and even dropped ocassionaly. Manufacturers need to keep this in mind when doing R&D and choosing materials, fasteners, etc. What good is a great circuit if it's housed in a platform built like a toy? I personally have not had any of these issues when using the Vanquish but as I said, I would sincerely appreciate any info you could share with me! Cheers, Mark 🤠
I just picked mine up yesterday, your review was helpful. The only thing I want to know is what do the numbers mean? Is the lower numbers mean not strong signal or depth? Thanks
Great question, glad you bought one it's a fantastic detector and you will find many treasures with it. The numbers simply mean how much conductivity is in the metal. The lower the number the lower the conductivity of the metallic object under the search coil. So it's just used to give the user an idea of what Metal the object is made of (Gold, Silver, Copper, etc.) and specific numbers pertain to specific coins. For example a US Quarter is a 29 on that scale. Has nothing to do with the depth or signal strength, just simply the amount of conductivity in the metallic object. Thank you for the view and question! Best of luck 🤠
Yes!! That irratates me every time I watch that part!! Really wish I would have caught that before it got uploaded! 😬 I have learned from that one and have tried to avoid forgetting anything else. Thank you for the view and comment!! 🤠
Here in the USA I believe that the suggested retail price of the Vanquish 540 pro pack is $599. Thank you for watching the video and for your question!
Hello and thank you for the view, comment and question. There are 19 different channels available to noise cancel to. At least one of them will help tremendously to cut down chatter. Also useful if detecting near another detector to eliminate cross talk between machines. Lastly, you can lower the sensitivity, most metal detectors in most types of situations and ground can't operate quietly at full sensitivity. You should bring it down to where it makes the chatter and falsing of signals tolerable. Hope this helps, lmk if any other questions.
Totally Lost - What would a beginner guy to find gold/silver/coins in parks in my area? I know nothing about Metal Detectors and all that I read is confusing.
I see this is an old comment and I'm just now responding to it not sure if you're still having trouble if you are you can always email me at the email that's in the description of all my videos. And I can give you some tips for your machine. Thank you for your view and comment!
Hello, Thank you for viewing the video and for your question/comment. It depends on which package you buy but the exact model and package of the machine featured in this video sells for around $500 US.
You will find small stuff with this machine much easier machine to use other then minelab 600 or 800 but can’t sumerge this one 600 or 800 you can just a small take away

Thank you for stopping by to view the video and for your comment. Would love to have you as a subscriber from Australia. Hoping someday I can make it out to Victoria or Ballarat to do some detecting!
This video is awesome, I just got the 440 and this is showing me a lot
I just ordered the 440
Great video. I really enjoyed it. Looks like a good little machine. Good luck with your diggin.
Mike
Thank you Mike, appreciate the feedback and kind words, all the same to you! 🤠⛏️
Best video I’ve seen on the Vanquish
Minelab Vanquish 540 is the best detector for beginners I’m convinced. Super easy to operate and it flat out finds stuff with accurate discrimination. For the price you’d be a fool not to.
I agree! Great first detector for anyone who wants to buy an affordable but serious machine that is very capable. Thank you for the view and comment!
Thanks so much! Looks like a great upgrade for my old Bounty Hunter.
Thank you for your view and comment! Absolutely is a great upgrade to a bounty hunter machine. I hope you will subscribe to my channel and keep an eye out for other reviews. I have a couple contenders at this same price point and you could watch the videos before you make your purchase decision.
@@BrassMedic done!
Great video, Mark!
Thank you Tricia!! Comments like this are exactly what keeps me motivated to do the extra work to make quality videos. 🤠
Excellent vid. Really informative
Thank you for the view and kind comment! Happy Holidays! 🤠
The 540 rocks and the 8 inch coil is great for all around detecting..

Great video Enjoyed the hardware store
Thank you, it's actually a lot bigger than you see in the video, just packed floor to ceiling in rmevery nook! 😁
Great review!
Which mode on minelab vanquish 540 will I select to detect gold
Another thing to try is to change channels to block interference, there are 19 different channels to choose from.
An etrac will do it but cost way more
I have just bought the vanquish 540 Pro pack. What's the difference between the 2 coils apart from size?
Thank you very much Greetings from Ireland!
Hi Paul
How you getting on with new kit ?
From Dublin myself ..
Whew! I LIKE IT!☺
Thanks for watching the video!
Thanks again and good luck in your search!
the Minelab Vanquish 540 how many frequencies transmits??????
Unfortunately that is proprietary information that the company does not share. Nor will they discuss which frequencies. My guess it 4. If someone had an oscilloscope, they could figure it out quick. Wish I knew the answer but thank you for the view and comment!
This is a $650 detector in Canada so the quality had better be good lol. Great video. Thanks.
Very good information. Thanks.
Thank you for the comment! 🙏🤠
Show us the settings for the ctx. I know on a etrac you open the screen wide open it'll find that 22 bullet
So, the 540 will un mask better than a 3030?
Great Tutorial!
Thanks!
Field test 10:40
I just my first ever metal detector… the Vanquish…. Can use any advice you can give me.
What about Lead.
Because that a real problem whilst looking for Gold Nuggets.
Yes, we typically find lots of lead when looking for gold and if your detecting small bullets and pieces of lead, you know your not missing much gold. They have very similar conductivity, in other words, if your hearing gold, your going to hear lead too and vice-versa. Thank you for the view and comment!
Yeah, lead is just going to be part of the gold finding. So similar in conductivity and location
Which is better 8 inch coil or 12 inch?
I don’t need a backlit screen, wireless headphones or so many customizable presets. The 440 was the best option for me.
Nice, yeah, I totally get that! Thank you for your view and comment!
@ ps, I love your channel. The way you walked through the unboxing was really eloquent and nice to watch. You’re really good at this man, keep it up!👍
Many prospects areas in my place from WW2 ,the problem is no gold detector.. Just 2 meters.
Which is best machine vanquish or apex please. Great videos
I love my 440!

how long is the battery life?

Vanquish 540 Can find the gems inside the rock and the coin hidden inside?

Thank you for the view and kind comment!
Hello, Thank you for the view and question. Where are you located?
Canada, New Brunswick. Yeah, what would be the best store with fair prices ?
I have never been metal detecting before and only recently considering doing so!! Loved your review video on this machine ! How does the Minelab equinox 600 compare as I'm thinking of getting one. Do you have a video on the equinox range ? Cheers from Adelaide South Australia
Hey buddy I have an Equinox and a 540. I will be honest I have found just as much with the Vanquish as I did with the nox . I'm liking the shaft better too. Of course it hasn't as much controllability but I found with the nox I only used very few adjustments anyway. Just my thoughts.
@@2019freddie Thanks for your comment.. Sure seems like a great hobby to be starting!
@@BrassMedic Thank you so much This helps me so much

Price and where to buy reliable place
one more question, do u think is good for searching gold nuggets?
I would just say it's ok at detecting gold nuggets but the circuit is not designed to be good or great for small gold nuggets. I would suggest the Minelab Equinox 800, XP Deus or Garrett ATX for gold nuggets and all-around performance. But for just nuggets the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 is phenomenal at finding gold nuggets! But it's just for gold.
@@BrassMedic thank you brother
@@BrassMedic What u think about Nokta Makro Gold Kruzer?
Is this good for beginners?
Thanks
TBH ignore the display if it dings dig it
Great question, glad you bought one it's a fantastic detector and you will find many treasures with it. Best of luck 🤠
the vancuish finds 540 small gold nuggets ?
Hello, Yes but not the best for small gold nuggets. Better is Minelab Gold Monster 1000. 🤠⛏️
What about the buttons you said we will show you when in the field? NOT.
Yes!! That irratates me every time I watch that part!! Really wish I would have caught that before it got uploaded! 😬 I have learned from that one and have tried to avoid forgetting anything else. Thank you for the view and comment!! 🤠

This detector has a ton of chatter, any tips?
Hello and thank you for the view, comment and question. There are 19 different channels available to noise cancel to. At least one of them will help tremendously to cut down chatter. Also useful if detecting near another detector to eliminate cross talk between machines. Lastly, you can lower the sensitivity, most metal detectors in most types of situations and ground can't operate quietly at full sensitivity. You should bring it down to where it makes the chatter and falsing of signals tolerable. Hope this helps, lmk if any other questions.
@@BrassMedic thanks for the reply. I gotta get used to it ,been using the ace 250. good luck
