I love camping so much!! I never had a camper, me and my sweet husband always tent camped and cooked on a fire!! I miss him so much and all of our adventures!! Sometimes I think I’d like to find a nice fella to do things like that with but my heart won’t let me! It’s been a little bit over 2 yrs since he passed. I’m so glad y’all got to take the babes on this trip!! Y’all are such a precious family and I just love ya to pieces!!!!! ❤❤❤❤

It is very very common in the west to not allow campfires during wildfire season. Fires out west are deadly.
I live in California and we had some bad fires during our drought. Drought is over since this past winter we've had a huge snow pack and lots of rain . I can count fires this year on one hand...and not as bad.
Yep, Arizona has fire bans usually starting May-ish.
South East been in a fire ban for months. Dang swamps have em!!! 😂

We reuse those reusable bags from any store until they are shredded. basically, I’m not paying that kind of money for a bag just to throw it away, I agree with you.
Walmart charges $1.99 for one of those bags here in Washington State.
Wow I live in Washington state and there's no way I'm paying that for a bag I just make my own. There bags are so small you can't put anything in them.
I reuse all of my bags even though they're still a dime.

I agree with dusty ... There is nothing wrong with mac and cheese on a camping trip . Easy.. pesy.. is the way to go..

I think no camp fires has to do with wild fire fears. Which makes sense. I need to do this in a few years with my kids.❤
Ya'll might have noticed the forest fires burning down major areas throughout the US. They are not allowing them pretty much anywhere in national park areas or smaller parks now.

Brooke I agree on the bags. Use 'em till they're dead. You should get a pie iron for camping. You would love it!! They make the best little fruit pies just using bread and pie filling. And you can use things like ham and cheese or pepperoni and cheese....lots of combinations. You could not only use it camping but on your fire pit you bought for at home. They're cheap and delicious!!!...and fun to use!!!

The reason you can’t have campfires is because that area has been in a drought for several years. They get heat lightening from storms that have started multiple wildfires that have burned thousands of acres of land.

I was a single mom to two boys and I have the same mentality as you about being frugal. My boys are pretty much grown now and living their own lives so when I watch these traveling videos I just want to tell you so much to cherish every moment because these are truly the best days of your life. I love everything about how you and your family live your lives and it brings me joy to watch your content. You and Dusty are excellent parents.
I love watching you and your family, I never got to travel like this, I was a single mom in the 70's and the struggle was real. My parents went on 4-6 week trips thru the country and they toon my boy with them. I missed him but he had experiences I could never give him so that was good, he still loves to travel our nation. I must add that I was pleased to see that Dusty carries. I support that and have my own here and I am 74. I will watch you till I can't and live thru you the way I wanted to but never could. All you people out there find a way, life is too short not to enjoy somehow. Peace and love to you all. ❤

You can’t have camp fires because Colorado doesn’t get much rain and there are wildfires all the time . I lived there 6 months a year for 7 years the rest of the time living in Kentucky. I lived in a campground outside of Colorado Springs called Mountaindale Campground. It was great, deer, turkey and squirrels and bears all the time running around as it adjoined a game preserve.

Where I live, there are no plastic bags. There are only reusable bags. One of the grocery stores selling them for 0.99$ but they are called bags for life. If the bag gets a hole in it or shreds, anything at all you just exchange it for a new one free. So you only pay 99$ once for life.

I love camping. We just got an RV last year and we love it. I have found it easier with the limited space to precook and freeze foods. So if I am making a curry or soup , pulled pork etc I freeze some in containers and just bring everything and re heat either in the microwave or on the stove top. It takes care of making sure leftovers don't go to waste and makes my camping trip more of a vacation since it's less cooking :)
I lived in a town just outside of Colorado Springs called Manitou Springs back in 99 our old apartment is now a shopping center next to the penny arcade. My hubby worked in CrippleCreek at the casino

When I do a dinner like this, I throw some Cucumber or carrots, maybe pea pods, and on the side( or any veg I might have on hand for salad).
No campfires because of high forest fire danger.

I loved this! We went to Colorado once. There was three feet of snow on the ground and we hid in our cabin almost the whole time!! Lol! Great job eating food in your camper and saving money! Eating out is so expensive! I’m excited to be able to take random trips now that my daughter is doing school at home!! We love brats! Such a good meal!

I really enjoy your videos. When we were little we used to go camping in our station wagon and my mom would make baloney sandwiches on the dashboard. Your family camping trip reminded me of us.
Who cares if you don’t have veggies with every meal!? You can tell people have probably made negative remarks about it too many times. The face you feel the need to mention it. Your kids are well fed and healthy! You make realistic meals. Not every meal is going to be “perfect”.

Pork Spanish Rice... 2 leftover pork chops diced, box Spanish Rice, can of tomatoes, corn off 1 cob for dinner tonight.
For some reason I thought you'd be ok in the altitude but I thought Tennessee was higher altitude. Glad you all did ok. Moved to 4333 ft in Alamogordo NM from Flat Florida mid Oct. It's been a struggle for weeks. Bought some canned oxygen. They have it at walgreens.
Those rocks were so impressive! Can't wait to get to explore higher elevations.

I found out you have to buy bags in California, so we just put everything back in the cart without bags and then put everything right where it needs to go in the RV.
The West is ridiculous when it comes to campfires. It’s SO dry out here and we have wildfires far too often.
No fires after June or July in most places, but fire pots are usually allowed.

The track across 🌻 is a long track. For my vacation in July we left in the evening after working and drove through the night. We arrived at our destination at noon.

I lived in CO Springs for a yr -- can't have a fire cos it's DRY! ELEVATION!! I'd forgotten 😢 when we first arrived I could not walk from the car to the grocery store door without a rest!

Brooke I love the Libby’s Sausage gravy , I buy it all the time ti keep on my shelf for when I’m not feeling well and want some toast with gravy and this is great tasting sausage gravy! I’m putting cans if it in my stock pile for connivence food that can be used in casseroles , over potatoes , noodles or rice , and of coarse over biscuits, toast or as a pizza sauce with cheese like you made!! I cook most of our camping meals and freeze them at home. Then throw them in the cooler. Reheat as we need them. I live in AZ so we get a lot of fire bans.
Next time use a cookie sheet under your pan and it will distribute the heat more evenly. Looks like yall are having fun and supper looked delicious.
