I always liked pattern sequencers, appegiators or repeaters as some software calls them.
If you don't know, the idea behind such a device is to hold down a chord and the electronic plays the keys you hold, but arpeggiated, ie one step/note at the time. The step is usually definable, eg 8th triplets, straight 8th, 16th, 32etc. It was all the rage in the 80ties and coined the sound of the decade.
Here, I'm trying to bring what I remember I heard into the world of (massively detuned) acoustic pianos.
