3:46 Elder Cyclops can cause area damage to enemies. It seems if upgraded to Elder Cyclop, they're very strong against a group of units than Minotaurs.
I don't know about being overpowered, but what I do know is that when I was doing the campaign's 31st mission, a Cyclops grabbed a hoplite and tossed it at the group of vills you're given and killed them all instantly, making the mission impossible.
It is a bit nuts, keep in mind however that War Elephants are 5 population (without Thoth) and Minotaurs are 3 population. 5 Minotaurs would easily beat 3 Elephants if you equalized the population.
8:24 Well, at 4:36 you (accidentally?) had two lots of 'Minotaur vs War Elephant' and no Cyclops vs War Elephant, if that's what you were referring to.

Should have used your Mountain Giant to send the hoplite back before it landed.

Cyclops does splash damage with the unit he throws. It was probably done to maximize each one's potential.
