As someone who has had a 3DS since age 12 (got it for my 13th birthday, lol), it's almost surreal and bittersweet to see the sort of final death rattle of the 3DS' lifespan. Like, it was a FANTASTIC console and had an amazing run, but it's like the end of an era as both the last console of the 7th gen to finally go out and also the last dedicated Handheld system from nintendo EVER (switch lite not counting).
For the PDI app, it's actually an app that was made for Medical purposes for places that didn't have the resources for other alternatives that were more expensive
Otosan was intending to be a free download, but Nintendo wouldn’t let the developer so they opted for a $1 price tag. The game isn’t complete, it is currently a 10 second game where you collect food. The developer wanted to be able to get it out berede the shop closed, and will (hopefully) release an update in the near future (after the eshop closure) turning it into an Earthbound-like RPG. It’s a gamble but a pretty cool idea.
I remember years ago, when I thought it was actually never gonna close.. and now it's happening- Well people, it's been some great years for the 3DS and WIIU, and.. I'm going to miss the vibes this eShop had. ✨
@@anthonydoesstuff Back when I was little, I thought of Internet as an abstract thing in which any amount of data can be stored.. didn't know about servers, neither about their cost! Edit: I simply saw the little funny shopping bag going "Hey, thanks for your purchase!" and I was happy seeing all the lil block appearing from "the Internet" and filling my tiny present. Even downloading games felt like a game..
I remember getting my 3DS in 4th grade , 2011 for Christmas. It was revolutionary in my eyes. I had so many amazing memories playing it. Trading pokémon with my friends, playing mario kart 7, road trips and loading up download play to play DS mario kart with my friends. The excitement of getting a street pass. Man…it makes me emotional. In a way it feels like my childhood is dying with the closure of the e-shop. It was such a cozy vibe…all of us just wrapped up in blankets playing our games, watching Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network. Just enjoying the tiny little system with so many fun games to play. Now it’s the Switch…but something about the DS line was just so comfy. Ima miss that little square dude and those blocks being counted on my downloads…RIP e-shop 2023
This comment represents exactly my same thoughts and feelings. I got my 3DS in November 2011 for my birthday when I turned 11, flame red and it was amazing to me back then. I would see the box for it all the time on display at a store across my house, so the day I finally got one felt like the best thing ever. It felt so futuristic to me at the time with the 3D and AR games. Coming from the DS Lite was a big upgrade and I was just in awe of everything. I got Mario Kart 7 around the time it released and it was the only game I had for a year straight lol but I played that game to death and unlocked everything. I got the 3DS before I had an iPod so it was like my main device for everything, taking pictures and videos, music, and browsing the internet. Had a bunch of pics on there from a trip to Niagara falls and my dog from 2012. Everything about this system is just nostalgic now, and those heydays of the 3DS are long gone, but I'm glad I have all those memories of cherishing this amazing system. RIP Eshop 2011-2023.
I spent many hours just browsing games and watching game trailers when I couldn’t afford games at 11, now I’m 19 and own 586 physical games 😂 I played and finished all the games I’ve added on my 3ds eshop wishlist and don’t regret the money spent to achieve it
Otosan is an RPG that's heavily inspired by Earthbound/Mother and was originally a fan made sequel titled Mother 4 until it would become it's own thing. If you were to buy it and launch it, it's only going to be a loop demo of some of the worlds. The reason for that is because of the game not completed and why they would release it like this is because of a loop around where devs can still get their games updated after the Eshop closes meaning that fans can still be able to play it on the 3ds legally once it's done
Watching March 25th. I’ve had a mad dash to buy as many digital only and decently priced physical games I missed out on as a kid. I couldn’t buy my own games back then. I was blessed to get one of the Pokémon releases as they came out, but otherwise I was in a bad situation during the 3DS’s glory days. My inner child is thriving right now. I’ve gotten all of the VC Pokémon games, several relatively obscure digital only games I wanted on release, and lots of DLC I missed out on. I wish it didn’t feel like such a death sentence. I know maintaining servers costs money, but as a consumer I’m feeling sad. I’ll get over it. EDIT: I also just bought all of the Streetpass Mii Plaza DLC! I’m hoping to take my 3DS with me when I can. I hope Streetpass gets popular again.
Knowing these eshops are closing, im just afraid for the future of eshop exclusives. Some games are ridiculously expensive, Take professor layton vs phoenix wright. It's almost 200 for a physical copy, whereas on the eshop its about 40 dollars. Or rhythm heaven megamix. there was no US release of it, so if you dont get it now, it's unplayable unless you have a 3ds of the region it was released for. Or Game and Wario for the Wii U. A physical copy is about the same price as PL vs PW, but digital is way more affordable. Nintendo really makes it extremely diffuclt to play older titles. Unless these games come to switch very soon, I only see the scalpers raising these game prices even higher knowing that people won't have an actual legit way of buying these games unless it's from them. Shame on Nintendo honestly for closing down the eshop. their excuse saying "things come and go" is just weak. It's our last bastion to play these games without spending an arm and a leg. Otherwise they're just promoting emulation at this point. And don't get me started on Fire Emblem Fates. There is no good reason as to why they made it unavailable earlier than the rest, other than to create artificlall demand for it. I really hope people have kindness in their hearts to not skyrocket these prices of games, but knowing people on the internet, that's not about to happen anytime soon.
3-27-2023 I already bought all of the things off of the 3DS eshop front long before the mad last moment rush. I earned 1577 badges before support for the Badge Arcade has ceased. I got mostly all the things that never got a physical release that fit my fancy as well as all the FE DLC. But most significantly Automaton Lung, Harold's Walk, Otosan and the best version of Citizens of Earth. Got all the update patches as well if I need the later.
Watching this on march 27th, the day of closure. Yesterday I spent around 100 dollars buying some eShop exclusives and dlc. I wasn't able to get everything I wanted but at least it's something. RIP eShop, you will be missed.
I picked up a Super Famicom Edition 3DS a few weeks ago for this exact occasion. Added funds and bought a game for a proper goodbye to the Eshop. Then I homebrewed it for longevity purposes. Bought replacement parts for the future. I'm ready to ride this out. Long live the 3DS.
Rest in peace... I have so many memories of mindlessly scrolling through the eShop, in 2015 the amazing holiday music played while searched for holiday sales, I downloaded nintendo badge arcade around when it released here... new nintendo just doesn't want the good memories to last...

The H Shop has replaced it and it is much better. You can even download modern games, retro games, and full movies like The Batman, Toy Story 4, Beavis and Butthead Do America+The Universe, and Sonic The Hedgehog 1 and 2. The movies look and sound surprisingly well. Modders do what Nintendon't
Same. I loved the Wii line as well. I mean, the switch is cool, but it lacks character and personality compared to 3DS and Wii U. I loved when you got a download demo or a game on 3DS eshop, it had that C stick smash bros stage select stuff going on lol.
