I just had to get on here to share how truly genuine and sweet this young lady is. I was struggling with the electric cart, to get into the grocery store, and this sweet gem took time from her schedule to assist me into the store. We chatted briefly and she is just as sweet in person as she is in her videos. What an absolute pleasure it was to meet her today. I’ve been following her for quite some time and will continue to do so. Keep up the great and amazing work that you are doing. You are truly an inspiration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness. It meant so much to me today.
This is literally a God sent! My midwife told me just 2 days ago that I need to get 80 grams of protein in one day in my second trimester & I was kinda freaking out on how I was gonna do this
It's all good. Been vegan for over 30 years. Problem is, my activity isn't fun stuff, like tennis. I'm cutting lawn, cleaning, trimming shrubs. I'm 70 and I'm pretty tired after working all day. I can't be preparing all kinds of elaborate meals. I buy tofu in seasoned chunks and whole blocks. I make hummus for every morning topped with nutritional yeast , fresh garlic and a dash of olive oil. Then I have a bowl of blueberries, cherries, a cut up orange, wheat germ and ground flax, mixed with about a half cup of silk, unsweetened almond yogurt. Before all of that I eat an apple and some almonds while taking my morning walk. I used to run a few miles but injured my knee mowing around the pond. I get so full I can't eat lunch. I do have a pre-prepped container of bokchoy cooked in garlic and sesemi oil. Also a pre- prepped cut up carrot and celery mix baked with garlic, pepper, olive oil. I also have a bowl of beets that I cook ahead of time and keep marinated in vinegar and olive oil. Oh yes, and I sauté a quartered eggplant in basil, garlic and olive oil (takes about 15 minutes). I purchase TVP and tofu curls. I make either burritos or jambalaya or just veggie mixed with thrm. I of course make a hearty lentil soup with grilled, almond chthem. I add northern beans to my whole wheat, organic spaghetti ( purchased online). All fruits and veggies are organic. A great Italian dish is escarole and beans (cooked in loads of garlic and some olive oil and water not to burn). Grandpa was a chef from Rome, Italy.) Hey, maybe that's why I no longer have time for tennis or playing my flute. I was a certified yoga instructor. And be sure to eat your fresh garlic. As a retired chemist I learned the anti cancer mechanisms of fresh garlic. Each step of processing takes away a little activity. I enjoy your stuff. I think I bought a booklet on making sentences (sp?). Keep up helping people to eat healthy and do less harm to animals and the planet.
Where do cows, chickens and pigs get protein 😊 I wonder why ppl never ask themselves that question. Like where does your protein get its protein. Great video ❤
Thank you so much! Just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed. I’ve been vegetarian for 25 years and recently switched to vegan. I’m very active with Pilates 3 times a week and long walks every morning. I felt like I need to increase my protein intake and this video will help as a vegan. I’m going to watch all your others. I really appreciate this! 💕🌻
I’ve been following you from the beginning and I’m circling back as this is my second go around with veganism. Thanks to you and your great tips here and in your other videos, it’s actually sticking this time. Also , your skin is AMAZING! You are a walking testament to veganism. You look amazing!!
I like my pea and rice protein isolate powder with our morning shake purely because of the convenience. I soak three tablespoons of a whole flax/chia mix overnight, then blitz it with 5g of creatine, 30-40g of protein powder abouts, kale, either banana or berries (never together based on some new research), sometimes fermented oats if I know I am not going to be eating big meals and water.
This. is really helpful! As a vegetarian who can't eat soya or lentils its great to see recipes that aren't all soya based :) I'll be trying those burgers and the salad
I imagine you got an impressive amount of fiber as well! I’m not vegan but I try to incorporate plant sources of protein frequently. I try to limit my saturated fat.
Everyone needs to stop worrying about vegans and protein and shift to if they're getting enough fiber. Lack of fiber for most people is the real concern. My kids pediatrician asks at every visit about constipation bc it's such an issue for young kids right now.
Agreed with this statement. People are eating 120-200 grams of protein per day. There is no way a person in ancient times sustained themselves longterm eating that much protein. It's causing kidney damage longterm and alot of people brought into the marketing of protein shakes etc. I'm not a vegan, but I eat a primarily plant based diet (FRUITS AND VEGETABLES) NOT A VEGAN DIET, and I only eat ABOUT 45 grams of protein per day. Your body doesn't need alot of protein, but instead more fiber and phytonutrient dense foods.
I think it’s especially funny when people who eat meat and are not in a calorie deficit worry about their protein intake, they should worry about much more important things. And regarding vegan diets, unless you’re in a calorie deficit, it should also not be a problem for most people who have balanced meals and don’t just consume candy or fries or something like that. If you workout a lot, especially if you want to build muscle, it might be a good idea to make sure you add some more protein, but most people don’t need to worry about protein. Also, it’s ridiculous to make such a big deal about the diet of other people. If you’re not a vegan, why are you so “concerned” about vegan diets?
I LOVE chickpea patties. I'm not vegan but I'm working to get more plants and protein into my diet, and I've found I can mix almost anything with chickpeas, make a patty, and I will enjoy eating it. So glad you featured your recipe - I had not considered adding almonds and pumpkin seeds!
Great content thank you, what about calcium as a plant base beginner, I always hear about iron and protein but not much about calcium, as well as good organic supplements to use along the way to balance everything. Thanks again for all you do for us all out here trying to figure it out. Your content of videos and your blog are super helpful. ❤
YAY! honestly i’ve been realizing my protein powders have been doing my GI a whoooole hit to my stomach 😅 i’m just scared to let go of them but truly i enjoy eating protein sources from whole foods like beans, tofu, tempeh etc. recently bought soy curls and that’s been fun!!
Protein is in most things, but this is a great video for people who think they would be lacking in protein. Many people need to be careful of protein overload which can do damage to the body. Also for the turmeric latte or beverage coconut milk is also a great alternative for the fats. The fats are good fats and can help with absorption of the turmeric along with the pepper. Your videos are always enjoyable and I look forward to your content. 😊
Thank you! Dr. Greger recently talked about protein overload which is potentially very harmful when the protein comes from animal sources. I think he mentioned it wasn't harmful when coming from plants.
@@SweetPotatoSoul Yes, the protein from plants is what the animal use, and that gets converted to animal proteins that people later eat, which is a secondary source and not as good as plant proteins. Most foods have proteins so people thinking they won’t get enough is just not so unless they don’t eat or only eat junk.
So many oil free options. You can use mashed avocado, beans or tofu for a thicker dressing. With lemon juice or vinegar. Add dijon musturd if you like. Or mix tahini with lemon juice and some herbs. Add any spices you like... A good food processor can make any ingredient into a sauce or a dressing. I really like my Nutri bullet.
Cannot wait to try that burger recipe!!!!! Thank you for these, I can’t eat soy based food so these are awesome for me, so many recipes I find use tofu… ❤❤❤❤❤
Always keep in mind, your body primarily needs a steady supply of carbohydrate calories to support optimal energy. If you're super active, you probably need 3000 calories a day, maybe more. And if you take in enough carbs (it looks like you are) your body becomes more efficient at recycling amino acids, reducing your protein needs. I think protein is a virtual nonissue, provided that you're eating real food, and eating enough sugars and starches to meet calorie needs.
I have to try the black eye pea salad, I have made the sweet potato black eye pea curry and it's delish. I also made the chick pea and sweet potato burgers this week. Another one of my favorites. Love the recipes. Thanks for sharing and helping us to eat and stay healthy😊. Greatly appreciated.
Thank you for inspiring me. I'm planning on going vegan, and I'm often scared that it'd be so much work and stress, but this video makes me feel calm about doing the transition.
I loved this video! Showing people that it is so simple to get what your body needs on a vegan lifestyle 💪 the #1 question I get being vegan of course is "where do you get your protein?"
thank you for your valuable information. I will follow your suggestions because I really did not feel energized enough on my amateurish vegan staples❤❤❤
I consume min. 160g of protein/ day to build muscle and strength at 94 kg of body weight at 194 cm tall. To achieve that I have to include protein powders as well, however I don’t feel that’s a big issue. Sport diet requires more protein, more calories, even high glycemic index carbs after a workout. I try to make sure that 70% comes from Whole Foods.
I love your vegan recipes but they're loaded with nuts which I am allergic to. I'm also allergic to gluten, onions and peppers so its tricky to get high protein meals. Do you have any suggestions of recipes that are high in protein without the foods i'm allergic to?🙏🏾
Beans, including soy beans. Tofu and tempeh. Nutritional yeast. Sprouts. All high in protein. Are you alergic to seeds? If not, they're great too. You can make butters and spreads from seeds. All grains contain a good amount of protein. Quinoa, amaranth and oats... Good luck. ❤
Wow so amazi😂ng I met you on the vegan holistic holiday cruise and didn't realize I purchased your cookbook some time ago, and the cookbook is showcased on my kitchen counter!
Love the video but also seems like a fair amount of time preparing food every day. even if it’s not a super complex receipe it still looks like easily spending an hour in the kitchen daily
Excellent video! You keep things so simple. I wish you could my nutritionist! In the meantime, I bought your book and downloaded your .pdf. Thanks again so much!
Oh thanks for saying that it can be easier to transition to a vegan diet if you are getting all your nutrients. Thank you so much for the protein rich meal ideas.

Ok so please help. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease after suffering with back ache for 2 years. During my periods, i get waist pain. During that time i overeat and start eating crackers and things i am not supposed to. Can you please tell me what i can eat especially during that time? It's like during that time I eat so wrong.

From beans

chickapea pasta, made from chickpeas, is 24 grams of protein A SERVING. i buy it at my costco . even 1/2 that serving is really filling .
