Welcome to The Frey Life daily vlogs! We are Peter & Mary, a married couple in our early 30's, showing the ups and downs of everyday life with #CysticFibrosis, a genetic lung disease that Mary was born with. In August 2019, Mary started a new CF medication that changed the trajectory of our future, and life has changed dramatically - including our son, Elijah, joining our family in December 2021. We also have an adorable standard poodle, Oliver, and a hairless sphynx cat, Harry. It's our hope that these videos can be an encouragement to to celebrate the little things in life and find joy amidst a world full of hard realities!

I have looked up to you guys for years, im 18 now and ive admired how amazing peter is with all the cf stuff and i thought i would never find someone like that but my boyfriend now researches cf and wants to learn as much as he can, he wants to come to appointments when covid lets us, as well as i am a nursing student because you inspired me that i can do anything like never thought id be able to have kids but seeing this makes me think i can definitely do it thank you for your channel

I’m also a nursing student! And I want to work in medical research! That is awesome, and yes I agree we all need someone like Peter in our lives
It's mind blowing to me that before trikafta Mary was at a point where she was mostly in bed, she was losing weight, she coughed through the whole videos, even doing something like going to the couch from upstairs was enough to cause a major coughing fit and there was barely even energy to eat and now despite the enlarged spleen, Mary is eating plenty and is a healthy weight and has color in her cheeks and its not from coughing so hard, she isn't having to stop and sit down on a floor or hold on to Peter to stay standing... no wheelchair, seeing Mary in the parking garage instead of being dropped off outside of the hospital and then Peter going and parking and coming in separately... it is a lot of little things that have made a MASSIVE change in quality of life. Anyone who thinks miracles are a myth needs to go back and watch the vlogs from a few years back. They were often hard to watch because Mary was getting more and more ill by the minute. Heck, the reason they live in NC now is because they were at a point where she was likely to need multiple organ transplants. Instead, they have a baby!!! God is good!!!
It is so wonderful to see the huge improvements in Marys health as it is the hand of God at work. Glory and thanks to Almighty God for Marys great improvement with her health and for the added blessing with the new addition to family and she is also Blessed with a wonderful husband and vice versa.

I use Hero as well. It is a game changer. I take so many meds, and at times I was getting them mixed up and confused. It was unsafe and scary. Very thankful for this service. Also, so excited for the stability you are experiencing in your journey! You’re a true miracle! It’s been a pleasure watching you not only thrive, but also becoming a mama bear. My life has kind of mirrored yours in many ways, but I was already a mama and even a grandma before my illnesses became so severe. It broke my heart to watch you and Peter so young going through so much. Watching your current chapter has been good for the heart. May God continue to bless your little family.
Dearest Marie & Peter, i have been watching you daily since you moved to Scotland. I saw Mary deteriorate over the years and was already bracing my hart for the very scary and dangerous transplant journey you where heading to. In full transparency, i often feared it would not end well. I can’t put into words how happy your great response to trikafta makes me daily! It soooo wonderful to see how you got a second chance at life and now also have your lovely baby 🥰 i struggle with 3 chronic and debilitating auto immune diseases, but also try to make the best of it. Your daily vlogs give me so much hope, energy and strength 💝 you are the best pick me up when i have a hard day/week/month. i always feared kids would not be in the picture for me, but your journey gave me hope again. I’m so delighted to hear that everything is stable and that your lung function came back the best that it has been in years. Upper endoscopies are a piece of cake ( when sedated), I’ve had quite a few in the recent years to figure out why my upper gastrointestinal tract keeps progressively eroding despite multiple treatments. At the moment they are testing for a gastrinoma ( a rare endocrine cancer), which if it is the case, will be my 3rd endocrine tumour, and 2nd cancer in 12 years. So a little frightening, but we can do this.
Will pray for you. That's rough :(

@Susan Wiley-Grim I'm right there with you! I have MS as well, DX in 2002 and it has been a rough road, but those "stable" or "no new lesion" MRI's are the best! Praying for you! Hang in there, warrior friend!🧡🧡🧡
Because of what I learned about the Hero machine on your channel, I got one for my adult son. I am his guardian, and he has NEVER been compliant with taking his meds. The machine gives him some independence ... I'm not chasing him around the house with a handful of pills. The phone reminders for him and for us (his father and I) are life savers. We give him a nudge now and then, but it is so helpful that we aren't nagging him to take his medicines. He has missed one dose of one medication in 30 days. This is mind blowing.

The hero is such a brilliant idea at the moment I have carers who help me remember and count my meds but hopefully when I leave the accommodation I live and to become independent I feel like something like hero could really help me. When I go stay at a friend's house or with family occasionally I will miss one or take them much later than I was supposed to

I’ve been following you’re journey for years now, since a good amount before starting trikafta and I can definitely tell just how much it is helping you to survive and thrive. I can’t believe it’s been 3 months of parenthood already. That’s like a quarter of a year! I’m so happy for you guys 🥰. A few percent is definitely worth celebrating.

I think living in a normally warmer climate is helping Mary. Caring for a baby is also another factor believe it or not. Focusing on someone that's totally reliant on your care. It so wonderful seeing both of you bloom with Elijah. There are many of us who know how hard it was medically for both of you, previously Mary's progress has been miraculous since Trikafta. I feel really sorry for this who don't qualify for this life saving medication.
It's wonderful watching the three of you grown as a family.

Just a suggestion, going for testing in a hospital setting, may be wise to leave the baby at home with a loving caretaker. Germs abound plus would make it easier for both of you. It is ok to leave an infant occasionally.

So glad your health is stable. You need to stay healthy for that precious baby. I have to laugh at the way you talk to Elijah when you are out. It’s so obvious you are brand new parents. It doesn’t matter where you are, your focus is on the baby at all times.

Mary,So happy your doing so good!!~ My ex husband had hepititas c and the dr"s were very careful as to which meds he took(ones that don"t go through the liver). I"m glad to hear you are doing so well!
My mom could use a hero. She has dementia and it would help her remember to take her meds. I'm going to have to take a look into it.
I recently had to do PFTs for the first time ever a fee weeks ago because the doctor thought I might have asthma. I am completely healthy in terms of lung function, and I didn't realize how much energy PFTs take!!

I have a chronic illness and I am also aware of that we cannot base everything on numbers. I know a lot of medical professional do but anybody chronically ill knows it's more than numbers to assess our conditions. Anyways, numbers are an important component of a holistic treatment plan so I understand and I'm excited for your rise in numbers!

Thank you for sharing your story. As a fellow Cfer it is always helpful seeing how others navigate the crazy CF world. The concept of the HERO is such a great idea! However I cannot get over that they charge a monthly rate that really adds up over time! Packing my pill boxes every 2 weeks seems a lot more appealing...then paying a fee on this for the rest of my life? Keep up the great work!

the hibiscus tree should be fine. they go into hibernation just like normal trees so unless you bring them indoors and give them grow lights and mist them almost every day (because they need humidity like the summer) and even then they don’t necessarily bloom they just stay green. which is crazy!

The two things I thought you were going to say was God and Elijah were the two reasons you are doing better. I believe that with all my heart. Yes, you have other “helps” (medications) but I credit God. Having such love with a newborn and feeling such happiness over this bundle of joy lift you to such a happy place, is my thoughts.
