When I went through chemotherapy treatments six years ago, I leaned on the lyrics to this song. "I know these are the Badlands, somehow I'll find my way!" And, thank God, I'm still here and listening to metal!
my girlfriend and I had been together for 6 years, we have a beautiful boy together, broke up, she took the kid. Like you said this song and Metal Church were a crutch for me back then, made me push onwards with my head held high, and not give up on life. Glad your alive, brother!
@@hades064 Thank you, brother! Sad to hear about your ex playing games with your son! Hang in there, man! Fortunately we have great music we can escape to!
One of my favorite lyrics of metal songs! Years ago I lost my job, my ex-girlfriend and acquired a lot of debt. I was overweight and in poor health. So I made a metal playlist on spotify and went to work out. Little by little I got back to normal, I lost weight, gained muscle, paid the bills and today, thank God, I'm fine. This song marked my reset. I still remember listening to it and almost crying while lifting weights or returning from work. Thank you Metal Church, Thank you Mike Howe, rest in power brother.
I agree! Keep going. I'm in the same shoes. When I ever get the chance, I get to the gym. It's my second home. Never married nor have any kids. But I refuse to feel sorry for myself and keep fighting. One of my favorite bands. Keep lifting and keep moving on. You are crossing the desert and you gotta get through the badlands of your own journey. We all do.

This was always a favorite song of mine, but it became more "special" when I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I'm just 57 and I've a GREAT life! I've taken care of all the details for my passing and although I'm still in the Badlands, I;m tired and in a lot of constant pain the journey doesn't look so bleak now. I still have my music to lift me up when I get down.
Sad to hear that you have slipped into eternity at such a young age(55yrs) Mr Mike Howe, thank you for blessing our ears with your God given gift,a wonderful set of pipes!Your family and friends are in my prayers.😪
So sad to say that Mike Howe passed away today.. Rest in Peace Mike , so sad to hear that you have left us. I am thankful that you were back where you belonged before you so so sadly passed.
I am sorry for your loss.. I’m 51 now.. and I can honestly say that if it weren’t for metal. I would have put the business end of a shotgun in my mouth a long time ago..🤘🏻
To me - 52 with a white beard - this song is one of the high points of metal. Great lyrics that are legible. Heavy without being crushing. Great span of tone - soft to heavy and it all works together. This guy has the perfect metal voice.

One of the best and the most underrated bands in the history of metal music. Dude, I love metal, always and forever. It gives me the serenity when I need it, and it gives me the charging when I need it. Nothing personal. Just music. I love it all. Jazz, blues, rock, THE metal, almost all genres of metal, and soul, even computed music y’ll enjoy as electronic music, so many great productions out there, so yes, for my everlasting LOVE of music, may you all be blessed!
Best era of metal Church by far. I seen them in Aberdeen wa on their last tour with mike. It was amazing, I been to a lot of Metal concerts that has to be top 3. He was an absolute amazing vocalist.
Just now found out the singer passed away, R.I.P. Mike Howe. This was the only song I ever knew by Metal Church. MTV played the video a lot back in 1989. I liked it because it sounded like Queensryche, whom I loved. I can hear Geoff Tate and King Diamond in Mike's voice. Now years later as I listen to this epic song I can also hear Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Ironic that he also took his life by hanging. Very odd.
R.I.P Mike, had the pleasure to meet Metal Church on this tour and they were so nice,no egos just down to earth people, thanks for the music and good memories

He speaks to me through his music, specifically the ones he had a hand in writing, including this one. I have severe depression, anxiety, and PTSD, Mike's music is a light in the dark for me.
