As well with world class drummer and Bass player - Eric Singer and Greg Chaisson. These Rocked the World and the end of a Great era of Rock and Blues and the End of the late 80s and earlier 90s. Once in awhile I play this album… I cannot even describe how High Wire is the most perfect way to open an album!!! Everything about this album is why I’m a music fan! At a time when frills & fluff were all over the place this was a grass roots work of art! I was always miffed at how they didn’t go over the way I felt they deserved. But, I feel lucky to have listened to this band!!! They were a gift! Thanks to them!!!
I bought this album in 89 and have loved it ever since. Jake is amazing but for me it's all about Ray's vocals. My goodness what a voice he literally sings from the bottom of his soul!!!!! Feel very fortunate to be around when they came and rocked my life, thank you to this band
Eric Singer just KILLS it on this album. I agree but Jeff is also very tasty in his licks. Not as good as Singer but what he does on the second album fits the band well.

Jake E Lee Easily in the top 10 of greatest metal / hard rock guitarists , Dreams in the dark is absolutely amazing work. Highly, highly underrated band , what a shame they did not last , it’s a tragedy, but we are left with this highly sought after album, I mean gosh, I can’t find them on Amazon music , so thanks to the person who put it here.
It is a crime that this Classic gem has not been uploaded to Apple Music’s ever growing library of music!!!Some body needs to put this in the library immediately,Pronto, and now!!!!!!
one crime begets another? it's a simple matter to record the audio stream of this upload. as is true of all music posted on youtube. copyrighted music really shouldn't be on youtube at all, just as copyrighted video is not. but since this record is here, and i cannot buy it, i'm recording it. from the beginning, or at least since payola, the music industry has had so many shady characters and grey morals, that it simply can't stand on principle on anything. what i'm most mystified by though is why the lawyers didn't suggest that the record remain in print and all proceeds go to victims' funds or something along those lines.
There are very legit reasons why the music is not available on streaming services. Just search the internet and you will read all about it. We all enjoy this music but at the same time we have to respect the victims, their families and the settlement that was litigated by all those parties involved.
This was my first concert. Ray sang right to me.Dreams In The Dark no less.I was so happy that night. Terrible to hear about his passing. I really would have liked to hear more from Badlands.

this album should have gone platinum or multi-platinum. Atlantic should have pushed the record more. i don't think the record had any "singles" but MTV could have played their videos a little more. by the time the 2nd album was released the band was no longer relevant
Still beats me why Grunge was seen to be relevant! Depressed junkies with no fun about them was 'relevant'? I tell you the world don't think at times 😂😂😂
Ray, riposa in pace. 🖤 ( by Marco
I consider Badlands, Voodoo Highway, & Dusk one big album. No filler whatsoever. Every song is a gem including the live heavy version of Jade's Song!!! RIP Ray Gillen🙏🖤

Yup, I saw Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour with Metallica as the opening act in Chicago. Metallica had released Master of Puppets and Cliff was still alive. After seeing them Ozzy was good but Metallica blew the doors off the place.
Oh my holy god that would have been ridiculous. If I saw Puppet's era Metallica and Ozzy with Jake in the one sitting I would self destruct. I can't emphasise enough how ridiculous that is.
Jake is very underrated....glad he’s once again active. Brad Gillis delivered after Randy’s passing. I saw ultimate sin tour in San Francisco...killer show.
I would like to line up the 177 people who thumbs downed this so I can slap the shit out of them for not knowing knowing musical talent when they hear it . Jakes guitar playing is superb . No fancy hammer ons or whatever just straight in your face rock guitar . The dusk albums is even better since it was a demo intended for the record company to just get a taste and see if they were gonna produce it so it’s all pretty much played live with one takes . No overdubbing or editing and truly shows these guys talent . Listen closely for yourselves .

What a legend, commercial hard rock with Ozzy, major star, but comes out firing with raw, loud, aggressive (but still very well produced) sound with his own band. These guys made fantastic music, cut short tragically early.
Great album! It's a shame that grunge had to ruin the party! I liked where hard rock/ metal was going at the end of the decade and early 90's. Albums like this, Slave to the Grind, Dr. Feel-good, Coverdale/Page, Angel Dust, Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, The Black Album, Shake Your Moneymaker, Brother Kane, etc were monsters!
Yes, rock and metal was in a very healthy place then, as was AOR with The Storm, Hardline, Giant, Tyketto, Tall Stories and Enuff Z'Nuff too. Grunge was the equivalent of putting a spanner into the spokes of a Harley in cruise.
What's funny is grunge basically died off by the mid 90's as the rap scene was taking over. By 2000, grunge had become so commercial that many of the "top acts" all sounded the same. And then as quickly as rap took over in the mid 90's, it didn't come to dominate the masses again until the latter 2000's when country also had solidified its dominance over the music industry. That whole late 90's to mid 2000's was all about the boy band pop scene.
@adrian hinton I was 21 in 1989 and discovered Z-Rock out of Flint MI while delivering parts from Ontario for a summer job. It was a Godsend as the van I was delivering in only had an AM radio and the Flint affiliate was broadcasting in AM! I was in HEAVEN as all I was getting was top 40 pop shit before I hit the border in Port Huron! I wasn't repulsed by grunge, and liked Alice In Chains (more of a metal tinge and just grouped in with grunge being from Seattle), but as the years go by, I've slowly accepted and even really like a lot of the grunge stuff now. And, my opinion that music has been shit since grunge, has changed as I look back and realize that every decade HAD some great music. You just have to be more open minded. There is a TON of good, hard rock from the 90's,00's, and '10's. But my heart still belongs to the 80's, being 13 in 1980 and being there in my formative years! As a side note, Beiber just bought a $7million "cottage about 5 miles down the road from where I live just outside of Guelph Ontario! Don' t care for his music, but I have respect for the kid as he did work hard to be discovered, busking in the streets of Stratford Ontario.
From start to finish not a weak spot anywhere. What a great band. But, would you expect anything other than pure awesome from Jake E Lee? No, no you wouldn’t.
I was fortunate enough to have met and hung out with Ray in summer of 88 while staying in california. He was super excited about what the band had recorded, and with good reason. This album was stuck on repeat for most of 89 for me. Ray was super sweet, really down to earth. He is missed by many...what a voice!
He seemed nice in what few interviews I heard. I doubt he was the person people are making him out to be. But.He really needed to be more careful. I managed to live through that time.I was 21 and horny like anyone at that age was in '86.AIDS was terrifying both gay and straight folks. I mostly abstain because.Or was monogamous. And never went near anyone that had anything to do with needles.

Guitar is tuned in like on Ozzys Ultimate Sin but more hard blues. This is my kind of Metal. Not the new popular stuff on the radio. This record just flat out rocks. Long live 1989. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
There's a lot more than what's just on the radio
Agreed 💯 percent I'm black .grew up with this.
Ultimate Sin best Ozzy post Randy for guitar Zack not bad minus 30 pinch harmonics per song
check out the new Blue Oyster Cult album... and Rival Sons and anything George Lynch, Zakk Wylde or Jake E Lee play on
And I just added the 89th like! Great stuff!
This album is 32 years old today and is still one of the best ever made .. so underrated
Happily introduced my 12 year old son to this brilliant album this month. ❤️
You are a good mom!
Good momma!! Got two half black step sons 26 and 29 they been rocking badlands for years and telling there friends.love my boys
One of the Most Underrated Band Ever to play and Tour the World.
Jake E Lee a Master Guitarist-Producer and Song Writer founded this Band along with Ray Gillen a power house Vocalist.
As well with world class drummer and Bass player - Eric Singer and Greg Chaisson.
These Rocked the World and the end of a Great era of Rock and Blues and the End of the late 80s and earlier 90s.
In a time when Music was real and the world was a happier place.!!! God Bless them All for giving us a Magical time Back in the Good old Days.!!!
50 year old here, and this is just as magical and brings up those rebelious teenage feelings like it did when i first heard "dreams in the dark" on headbangers ball way back when life was simple and fun! thanks so much for posting this...took me back to where i wish i had never left!!
56 here and it never left me glorious vocals
Ray Gillens vocals, man. Jesus!
I'm just know listening to BADLANDS for the first time !! I grew up in the 80s and somehow missed these guys on my radar !! Man what an incredibly tight sounding band !! Excellent LEAD VOCALS and LEAD GUITARIST !! YOU know what they say, hind sight is 20/20. I'm just glad I found them at the ripe old age of 55 !!
Richard Clark ; HOW are you listening to them just now? You can’t buy any of their music...well the first two albums anyway. So how do you hear their shit now?
@@metaljew4456Probably on the internet dude, smoke another one 🤗

The 1980s were basically; incredible!! = was prime great fun af living!!!, really ;) lol however, I lost track of Jake after his Ozzy work but really liked him and I'm listening to this album for first time now, however the first two songs sound familiar, anyways I love Jake's playing style here and I'll be looking to his other Badlands albums and work with Red Dragon for eargasm guitar bliss, haha, enjoy! :)
!!!"Welcome Richard"!!! I'm 57, it was only through a friend who turned me on to them way back then...
I wrote something on this site today, but this is just for you...
"I Can't Be More Happy For You If Just Got To Hear This Band"...
Super under rated. Are you from SI, NY by any chance?
I bought this album in 89 and have loved it ever since. Jake is amazing but for me it's all about Ray's vocals. My goodness what a voice he literally sings from the bottom of his soul!!!!! Feel very fortunate to be around when they came and rocked my life, thank you to this band
I saw this show @ Dallas City Limits club.. Dallas, TX 1989.. Insane how great.
rod mcdaniel it's a Gillan thing!
I saw them at "The Channel" in Boston in 1990-1991. They were INSANE!!!
rod mcdaniel I bought it in '89 also...damn we're old.
@@infrared3717 *Gillen. Absolutely no relation to Ian Gillan. 🙂
One of the best bands and albums to come from this era. The follow up Voodoo Highway is also killer.
Right on the money.
Also their third album, Dusk, is killer. Released after Ray passed away.
Its a good follow up, but as a drummer, I missed Eric Singer's contribution.
Bloody oath it's killer JMGMarcus, their version of James Taylor's Fire and Rain is unreal
Eric Singer just KILLS it on this album. I agree but Jeff is also very tasty in his licks. Not as good as Singer but what he does on the second album fits the band well.
I was 16 in 1989……..I’ve never really got into badlands at that time in life! It’s always great to add some monster 80’s Rock 33 yrs later………Jake E Lee is a monster on this album…………Ray Gillen has the most amazing voice I believe in Rock RIP Ray
Im 63 in 2024 and still loving this. Sad that Jake got shot walking his dog I heard hes ok.
Best. Album. Ever. (Shhhhh, love.)
Man SEASONS is the song that I love to so Chill out to 2022 I will never stop listening to Badlands/VooDoo Highway...
Been a long time .. Still the Greatest Immortal rock albums of all time.
Jake E Lee and Ray Gillen effing nailed it!!!
After I saw the Winters Call video on MTV back in 89, I was hooked!!
Set the scene; Summertime driving at night, windows down, sunroof out, car audio near full volume, me singing this album in the car. Soooo under-rated.
This is one of the greatest records ever!!!
💯 Percent Agreed
Those of you who thought Jake E. Lee's best work was with Ozzy, think again! RIP Ray Gillian..great vocalist! Not nearly enough recognition for this band.
Also Page never ever play this solos! Ever.
Gillen bordel !

Jake was some of Ozzy’s greatest work lol
One of the Most Underrated Band and Album of all times.!!!
Jake E Lee is a Genius when it comes to producing and song writing and of course a Master Guitarist.

57 years old metal fan here. I've heard of Badlands but never heard this album before today. Good stuff!
Check out Voodoo Highway and Dusk their other 2 albums just as good!
One of the Greatest Albums ever made.

It really is, though.
OMG I love this album.
Front to back just a killer loaded hard rock album with dynamics, melody, nasty and tasty guitar work, stunning vocals and great SONGS. One of the best rock albums of the decade. Just push play at any point on this album and you’re good. And what a great goddamn name for a band on top of it all.
Winter’s Calling. One of my favorite songs ever. Incredible.
My favorite SONG off this album. Love this jam. Great guitar work too. RIGHT on. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Ray Gillen was a fantastic singer! Jake E. Lee a great guitarist!
This really is one of the greatest albums ever made, there is just something magical about this record
Absolutely nothing magical about this derivative blend of LZ/Whitesnake/Motley Crue/Guns N'Roses

It is a crime that this Classic gem has not been uploaded to Apple Music’s ever growing library of music!!!Some body needs to put this in the library immediately,Pronto, and now!!!!!!
Won't happen. The ĺabel will never reissue it.
one crime begets another? it's a simple matter to record the audio stream of this upload. as is true of all music posted on youtube. copyrighted music really shouldn't be on youtube at all, just as copyrighted video is not. but since this record is here, and i cannot buy it, i'm recording it. from the beginning, or at least since payola, the music industry has had so many shady characters and grey morals, that it simply can't stand on principle on anything. what i'm most mystified by though is why the lawyers didn't suggest that the record remain in print and all proceeds go to victims' funds or something along those lines.
There are very legit reasons why the music is not available on streaming services. Just search the internet and you will read all about it. We all enjoy this music but at the same time we have to respect the victims, their families and the settlement that was litigated by all those parties involved.
Your only bet is to buy a used copy. It was pulled by the record company.
@@jb1934succintly PUT mojo!!!!
Damn this is great. Took me back! Picked this up in Tower Records and played the shit out of it. The 80s were such a magical time.
This was my first concert. Ray sang right to me.Dreams In The Dark no less.I was so happy that night. Terrible to hear about his passing. I really would have liked to hear more from Badlands.
Words. Cannot. Do. Justice. Beides. Maybe. Perfect
Seriously how could anyone dislike Badlands?
Pop music fans don't appreciate Classic rock. They're got their up their.....over people like Taylor Swift.
This and the second album are works that deserve more recognition.
This band was way before there time. And look , were 2022and. They still kick Ass!!🤘🤘🤘thank you very much for this record.🙏🤘🤘
Actually- they were after their time; they were a throwback to the 70’s
Ele domina!! Pena que foi embora tão cedo. Meus sentimentos!!
This album is a hidden treasure, to bad things got cut short for this band. Badlands was the true definition of hard rock.
One of the best opening tracks ever. This is such a great album. Reminds me of being a teenager.
Me too
I would never be tired of listening Seasons to raise your spirits
A huge Led Zeppelin flavour to this songs... True Rock n' Roll giants... RIP Ray Gillen... What a singer! And Jake E. Lee... OMFG! Great guitar player and monster composer!
this album should have gone platinum or multi-platinum. Atlantic should have pushed the record more. i don't think the record had any "singles" but MTV could have
played their videos a little more. by the time the 2nd album was released the band was no longer relevant

So TRUE!
I agree fully, all killer and no filler, what a band !!!
High Wire is a classic of hard rock/heavy metal! Pure Led Zeppellin/Whitesnake style!!!! Superband!!
One of the very best debut rock albums...actually one of the best rock albums, period. Classic 10/10
I was 16 when Jake took Randy's place.. I saw the ultimate sin tour in charlotte n.c Metallica opened. Jake e lee was awsome!!!! Nn
Scott K seen the tour in Evansville indiana james hetfield broke his arm so they didnt play proud jake e lee took tbe show ozzy was to drunk it was sad but the rest of the band kicked but
Yup, I saw Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour with Metallica as the opening act in Chicago.
Yea, memories, I saw that same show in Ft. Worth, TX (Metallica/Ozzy) - Tarrent County Convention Center... Drove down from Wichita Falls, TX...
Not a weak link at all in this band....as perfect as can be. Just insanely kickass music.
Of course Jake and Ray totally aced, but if you pay attention, Greg's bassline is jawdropping!
And Eric SInger is a drumming god in his own right.

Must be the 177 chicks that caught HIV from the singer …
Jake E. Lee uses hammer ons a lot, don’t know what you’re talking about.
This album is timeless!! Masterpiece. Rock on! RIP Ian 💖
saw them summer of '89 opening for Cinderella. debut album is very underrated. there is no filler here. all terrific tracks from beginning to end.
The fact that this band wasn’t more successful, demonstrates what a joke the music business is.
came out at the wrong time - right before Grunge -

This Band belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Agreed mate but it will never happen because of what the singer did.
No band belongs in that elitist garbage twat club.
Rock n' roll hall of fame means nothing. This band talk with the people soul and this my friend, this is the important.
They won't even let them re-release the albums.
@@tubecrawl1 the record companies feel if they re-release it they'll be open to lawsuits for any money made from it. so to them its better just to bury it.
One of the most underrated band of all time. Amazing!
Wow ! That's all I keep hearing !
What a legend, commercial hard rock with Ozzy, major star, but comes out firing with raw, loud, aggressive (but still very well produced) sound with his own band. These guys made fantastic music, cut short tragically early.
we would be best friends in RL
Yes, I still listen to all the old stuff. Grunge put me and many other musicians out of work.
killerdude35 yeah but there were alot of 'filler' bands that effectively 'crashed' the party
It doesn't get any better than this. Flawless album with amazing musicians!
Ray is the reason this AMAZING album cannot be bought any more.
"You can't blame the wang" -Leon Phelps
Awesome album from beginning to end. 1.4 million views of a record from 1989 that many people did not know about says it all.
Eric Singer at his absolute best. Arguably the best drum performance on a hard rock album.
