This tool-assisted speedrun by Nahoc aims to beat Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards while collecting all the shards in as little a time as possible.

It was made on an emulator, using frame-by-frame shooting, savestates, and rerecords to overcome things like reaction time and human error. As such, it is purely a form of entertainment, and is not designed to show skill.

18 years later and the mystery is finally solved. This was the whole point of me watching this video.
It was my last shard to grab when I tried for it. I still remember the lightbulb in my head going on when I saw Rick jump 3 times against the wall.

Lol, what? There is nothing "soft" about what I said literally 4 years ago, what are you some kind of super tough guy who eat and laugh while watching Bestgore videos?
What I meant is Kirby is doing all the hard work and never get to eat anything, while all of his friends who barely does anything get all the foods and items.
I hadn't gotten myself familiarized with Kirby, so I thought Waddle Dee had always been Kirby's friend, and not a sort of "Goomba", and I didn't know Waddle Doo was a separate species, and NOT a transformation exclusive to Waddle Dee. And this game, being my first Kirby title, never told me that Kirby usually wore hats based on the ability he had.
+Robert Jindra This was my first kirby game too. And after playing the others, I have to say, it's my favorite. I just wish they put a little more effort into the powerups, and up'd the dificulty. My main problem being the powerup combinations. About half of them have one-or even no use in the game. I mean fire and ice = melting ice cube? Come on, that combo has so much potential... Water Kirby, Steam shooting Kirby, etc.... Bomb + Lightning = Light bulb | Ice + Bomb = Snowman , the list goes on. Some combo's are awesome and creative like the Fridge, Gordo, and the Firework. But if they would've put a little more effort into the combos the game could've been almost flawless.
This game is waaay cuter than I remember it being.
Same here. I guess it's because we were so young that we didn't know what's cute and what isn't.

Can't wait till further completed TASed uploads! This one, I never bothered to complete, but none-the-less, was the most enjoyable run I've seen that wasn't badly glitched! So I can at least see what was done exactly. xD

This is one of my all time favorite Kirby games
Aqua Star's music is perfection.
I loved watching this TAS. Very well done. Though it made me sad how Kirby cried at the end of every level after loosing the picnic jump minigame.

I love that when you pick up a crystal, the game does not stop to tell you...you've got a crystal, the games goes on fast! I miss that, now there is a stop for everything.
I love Kirby. Kirby is awesome. I have Kirby 64 on my Wii. It's one of my favorite Kirby games. I'm really exciting for Kirby Triple Deluxe for Nintendo 3DS this May. Great TAS.

I remember on if you try to quit on the final boss, instead of it saying Try Again it will say Tough It Out! and sends you back to the fight. That seriously caught me off guard when I first played.
This is one of my favourite games of all time, and that's not because of nostalgia. I only played it for the first time a few years ago. It is just an amazing game.

@LanClanKilla I used Jabo Direct3D 8 1.6.1 (Jabo Direct3D 8 1.6 also works) to make the video. I hear it works on some GPUs well only, so that's why it may be glitching for you. I have an ATI HD Radeon 4850.

The best feature of this game is the camera.
poor kirby... not only did he cry at EVERY picnic...
but, he also got set on fire and had to poof out air almost the entire game...
If you count Helpers as "abilities", then Kirby can combine powers in Kirby's Dream Land 2 and 3. (For example, parasol power + Nago the cat = pogo kitty.)

Fans may bash me for this, but I'll write this anyway. Kirby may be pink, fluffy and always decorated with ubiquitous stars. But that doesn't prevent him/it from being a merciless monster (seriously, you get eaten by him and you never come back). In my opinion, Kirby is a badass (in a very cutesy and bizarre way).

Ah, this game. The frogs always scared me so much.
I wish I had this game so I can play it again. The music for the first couple of minutes in the video remind me of Mario Legend of the Seven Stars/ Partners in time/ Wario World Gamecube/Sonic Series/Diddy Kong Racing/etc.. Other music also remind me of other games.
