After staying at the hotel and walking the property I completely agree. The cool breezes through the open spaces and strategic use of the cliffside are apparent everywhere. Can't wait to go back!

@bjsteinhoff It truly is paradise! I don't think I can do the golf course justice, it really is amazing, and the views are just incredible. We can discuss at the 19th hole :)
Great video. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem with me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Love your video! Is that beach good for swimming ( not big waves)? We are planning our trip to Hawaii and would appreciate your input very much :) Also is there any path along the beach that you can walk from Mauna Kea to the Hapuna beach ?
There is a trail, Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail that goes from beach to beach, www.alltrails.com/trail/hawaii/hawaii/ala-kahakai-national-historic-trail-mauna-kea-beach-to-hapuna-beach?u=i Rated easy and about 49 minutes to complete. Like Hapuna beach it is another great spot to swim, check with the lifeguard before jumping to see if there are any current weather conditions, or currents to be aware of, enjoy!
Yes! We stayed here last year and coming back again this year because we were able to enjoy swimming in the water for hours. My 8 year old had the best time!
How do you compare this hotel to the Westin Hapuna next door? And are they so secluded that you can not walk to local shops and restaurants? Thanks for posting. Love them.
I personally like the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel better. However, many prefer the Hapuna Beach because of the better pools. Both have excellent beaches. They are both outside of walking distance from any local shops, you would need to be in the town of Kona for that. Glad you like the videos 👍

I can see why the architecture has won awards. A beautiful incorporation of the natural elements into the building. Just stunning overall.

Paradise on earth! 1st major resort on the Kohala Coast & still the best! Why no mention of the incredible golf course?

I met several guests who were all repeat visitors, now that I have been there I fully understand, truly a special place.

How privileged I feel to have stayed at this hotel and I would love to go back but it's a long way from the UK.
I hope to visit the UK one day as well, heres to passing planes over the Atlantic. 👍
