      The Hilo side is the rainy side for the Island. It's doesn't have much of "dry season". It's just bound to rain on that side. The kona side was great. No rain as that's the dry side.

    Great video. At about 15 1/2 minutes in, you mention that the beach is owned by the Mauna Kea hotel. This is false as all beachfront in Hawaii is public land, hotels and other communities are required to provide access to beach for locals and all visitors. Parking spots to run out but technically, no one owns the beach. Small detail but an important one. :-)

    • @JeanieMarie
      @JeanieMarie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are correct! Thanks for the correction...as I didn't mean the resort it self owned the beach, but they do manage the acces to it.

    I live on the big island. Here are a few other places to go.
    Charming to stop in for pastries and coffee at Punalu'u Bakery sort of near South Point.
    South Point is the farthest south place in USA. 100 miles south of the tip of Baja CA. See cliff divers at times, or be one.
    The Coffee Shack in South Kona has great lunch and fabulous views of Kealakekua Bay.
    Magic Sands Beach in Kona is beautiful. Nice little restaurant there too. Magic's.
    Hugo's restaurant in Kona puts on a classy dinner right on the water with live music.
    Lava Lava Beach Club is a neat lunch place right on the sand in Waikoloa area.
    See some of the most beautiful white sand beaches north of the airport.

    We were on the BIg Island soon after you were - from Feb 4-12,2022. We stay in Volcano Village adjacent to the nat’l park. GORGEOUS! Then we stayed at a Hilton Resort in Waikoloa Village. We enjoyed visiting Lapakahi and its ruins of an ancient fishing village, and Pu’ukohoola with its temple where King Kamehameha first took authority over the islands.
    For a return visit, on Maui, be sure to drive the Road to Hana - gorgeous views and scary twists and turns. But totally worth it. And stop in the Garden of Eden, a botanical garden.
    On Oahu, give Waikiki Beach its due, but visit the east and north sides of the island. Less touristy, very lush. In Honolulu, visit Iolani Palace, where Queen Liliuokalani was forced to let business interests, headed by Dole, take control of the islands and give them to the United States, learn a lot of Hawaiian history,

    Really nice informative video!! We are booked to go to Big land for a week in June. Debating whether to go Maui for 2 days in between. This is our very first time to Hawaii and it’s our anniversary trip with teenage daughters. What would you recommend?

      Definitely book the wasabi tours big island in a day tour. It is an 11 hours tour but takes you everywhere from the waterfalls, volcano park, the lookouts, coffee farm, a bakery & black sand beaches. They also provide a nice lunch of teriyaki chicken rice and purple sweet potatoes. They can pick you up at a number of hotels or resorts in Kona. If you are trynna mess the most of your days there it is a must.

      I would recommend you know how to swim at least a little bit. They don't give you a life jacket... however they will give you a floaty noodle to use to swim over to the floatation board, but then after that you just hold on to the board.

    Hello, great video is gonna be really helpful for our vacation trip, wanted to ask if the cash only places were most common or would you say 50% chance of using card, want to be prepared for that, and also do you need to make reservations with many days of anticipation at the restaurants?, have watched many videos that said that. I liked that you mention about the america the beautiful pass as I've seen that most of the parks have fees maybe it would be a good investment. Thanks and appreciate all the info.

    • @JeanieMarie
      @JeanieMarie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say about 90% of the places we visited accepted cards. Just every once in a while we had to use cash. We only had to make reservations at one of the sushi restaurants because they only had maybe 5 tables and chairs, otherwise, we never had to. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you can't, if you don't want to wait, have a large family, or have a specific restaurant and time you want to dine, you can always call in advance to see if reservations are recommended. Have a great trip to the Big Island!

    Can I point one thing out to you, if you don’t mind? It’s going to be more appealing to us viewers if you look at the camera lens when you talk to us, instead of looking at yourself on the camera screen. It was like you were talking to someone off to the side, instead of directly at us viewers.

      Please stay in hotels! Neighborhoods that have JERKS who run short term rentals only make it more unAloha. Stay at hotels for safety and security. Not private neighborhoods. We do not want you in our areas that our families have made for many generations. You bring only entitled ideals and rude behaviors. Stay in hotels. We deserve peace and quiet in our neighborhoods.
