This is still my number one favorite Ola video of all time. It has everything: shredding, comedy, travel woes, pink eye, bed time with the wife, meeting your idol, more shredding, snow, and buying off your children's affection after an absence.
That was a cool experience and to have the man sign your guitar even better. Music brings people together having it in our lives brings positive things. I’m a drummer but I love guitars and own some nice ones, since I have started studying guitar it has opened up the guitar god doors and man there some people out there with the gift Steve Vai being one of them.
I have had the good fortune to meet Steve on 2 occasions, and he signed my Ibanez rg4ex1 both times (he even took a minute to admire it's paint job) He's such a gracious artist! I thought he would be arrogant, but he was truly humble.
I liked the energies and lack of egos of all the people in this video.

As a guitar player myself, I can tell you that I too would be star-struck meeting Steve Vai. But as a parent of 4 kids (now grown), I can tell you that the best part of that whole weekend had to be getting back home with your beautiful children. God Bless!!!

Had an interview with Vai ages ago. Was really fun to hang with him for the afternoon. Got a bunch of gifts as well.
I know exactly how you felt meeting Steve Via.. I had the honor to say hello and get an autograph when he was on tour with David Lee Roth.
Such an incredibly polite humble man, it was a huge inspiration to me as well.

It reminds me when I met you in London in 2014 at the acoustic guitar show. After the clinic, you let me try a couple of your signature guitars and the Randall Satan. I came back home with a signed copy of "Vinter" and another CD with a backing track that you probably used during the clinic. It was a nice experience! I really enjoy watching your videos, and of course your music, Ola \m/

Most important, I like the part that you hugged your kids. You are an inspiration man.
That makes me remember meeting the great Martin Barre of Jethro Tull in Istanbul in 1991 at the backstage after the concert. I was 17 then and I didnt have my guitar with me to get signed but he was kind enough to sign some photos and let me take a look at his beautiful Tom Anderson that he played on the stage that night and let me even hold it and strum a few chords with it. While I was leaving I asked hım if I could keep the pick and he said sure. That was an amazing moment for me as a 17 year old young guy who was trying to learn to play the guitar. Good old memories. That was like 30 years ago, I'm 47 now.😉
Ola is a very brilliant man. I hope good things continue to happen to him and he can feel peace and happiness.

It's wonderful that you didn't miss out on meeting him or getting your guitar signed by Vai! I got to meet him and my Jem signed a couple years back on the Passion and Warfare tour.

I’m in the process of catching up on your vlogs, and I had to comment on this one. I’m 60 years old. And I can totally understand your “fan girling” about having Steve Vai sigh your guitar. Hell, if you were coming to my town (not happening in a million year), I’d be totally stoked to have you sign one of my guitars. That’s the cool thing about music. Maybe even life in general. There’s always someone to look up to. Always someone who was there first. So good on ya, Ola.

Steve was lovely when I met him at G3 about 15 years ago. We'd got to stage door early so we were at the front to meet everyone, and he really took his time, rather than sign your shit NEXT. We chatted about Van Halen and his vocal stuff and he seemed genuinely humbled that I loved stuff like Silent Within because he hates his voice!

In 2015 I had the chance to meet Steve Vai in a Alien Guitar clicnics here in Brazil. I got so pretrified that all I could say to him was a "Thank you". That was a great night.

The guitars looked amazing, from what I could see. I'm struggling with trying to decide between an Ibanez and a Schecter myself right now....so I was hoping to see more guitars.. but seeing you, your wife experiencing something this cool, was a pleasure.
