Also, your comment about Princess doing Alaska really well is valid. Princess's whole marketing is about immersing yourself in the locations you're in. (former travel agent and they hammered this into our heads!)

I have sailed Princess 12 times and Alaska was the most relaxing cruise period. Such a great, different vibe. We are going back to the Med on Princess this summer for 2 weeks. I love exploring all day then go back “home” to Princess greeting you with water and cool towels. I loved our Disney cruise but my husband would not do it again. The value is not there. WE love a great buffet for dinner, we grab sandwiches from the International Cafe and take them off the ship.

My husband and I have sailed on The Royal Princess a total of 51 days since 2014, she was just a year old when we first sailed on her. We did find the lack of outlets a problem back then too. I’m sure things have changed since Covid started, the bartender shows were amazing before then and just about everything else too. Our last cruise was in 2018, a 28 day transatlantic on the Regal Princess from Fort Lauderdale to St Petersburg, Russia. Other Princess cruise ships we have sailed on were the Emerald Princess and the Island Princess ( older and smaller). We have to date sailed 101 days on Princess ships and we prefer the Royal Class the most. We will be sailing on Royal to Alaska in September ( round trip from Vancouver,Canada) so I will be able to compare pre and post Covid. We might be diverted from going to Skagway because of the landslide there which would be unfortunate because we are booked on the train for the White Pass. I have watched your travel companion’s videos and will now watch your videos. P.s. the newer Princess ships( Enchanted and Discovery) have a lot for outlets for charging devices including right in in the bedside lamps! We are sailing on the Emerald in January through the Panama Canal and Vancouver to Australia (32 day transpacific) in October 2023, hopefully if all goes well ( the life of seniors😁)

Loved hearing your thoughts! We agree with a lot of what you said. We would definitely cruise on Princess for Alaska again. I can’t wait for you guys to try more lines! We have done Royal, Celebrity, Disney, Carnival, and now Princess. Like you said, each has things they do really well and some they don’t. Carnival has the absolute best quick and casual food options, love the “fun” energy of the ship, live music, amazing comedians (we had like 6 different ones on our 7 night cruise!), and fabulous cocktails. Check out the Mardi Gras or Celebration once it comes out. They have a central area with lots of live music and stuff that I think you’d enjoy since you liked the Piaza on Princess! But I think Princess for Alaska is a no-brainer. Or maybe Holland America

Alaska was the only destination I really ever wanted to cruise to (I'm not a warm weather / beach person) but our first cruise ever ended up being to the Western Caribbean on the Magic. We loved it and couldn't wait to plan a Disney cruise to Alaska... and then we saw the price 😳. I was very much looking forward to your Princess Cruise videos to see how it went and my hubby and I are convinced that we would be prefectly happy sailing Princess to Alaska. At their more affordable price point we can even bring our parents along. I've already been on the Princess website looking at ships and itineraries. Thank you both so much for sharing your adventures with us and thank you for all the great info!

Great feedback. We have cruised extensively on Princess. May, this year, we did Alaska. Highly recommend you cruise Panama canel on Princess. Especially from LA to Florida.
We have done this twice and would book again. Balcony, you can get those balconies in AFT. Center ship better for sea sickness.
Food, its all about the leaders/chefs. Best food, generally speaking, have found are on the Caribbean cruises. However, each ship is different v chef on board.
We missed the Medallion app on another cruiseline. Appreciated the app once we sailed on other lines
Princess is our #1 choice. Especially for the experience, eg. ALASKA THEME. Princess are very similar regarding PANAMA canal cruises 👍👊

First of all, I am so glad you guys enjoyed your cruise. I know a lot of it was that you had your friends with you and that always makes cruise better. I love princess! I am blind and they are really good about taking care of my guy dogs potty box and making sure that we all have what we need. There is no place like Alaska! Love it! I am from Texas and I was hoping that it was going to be cold when I was there, in June but it was one of the most warm time of the times that I've been to Alaska and this was trip number five. Oh by the way I have a black lab and I also had one of those lumberjack jackets for her, so she fit in Alaska as well! Just a warning though, if you do any other princess cruises, you will find a lot of the things to be the same but nobody does Alaska better than princess. Oh I was on the discovery in June and they do have USB outlets on the lamps on each side of the bed, so they are slowly but surely upgrading things! The Crown Grill is my favorite place on the ship and a couple of my favorite things are the black and blue soup, the ribeye and this year they had a crème brûlée cheesecake and it was out of this world!

We were on your cruise, and I totally agree with you on everything. The ship was refurbished in 2019, so I guess it didn’t travel much before the shutdown. I love your wrap up and I agree. I took a Disney Cruise in 2004. I had done several others including about 8 on Princess. Disney was amazing, but at some point it was worth it for me to do 3 Princess Cruises vs 1 Disney Cruise. Now I'm also the same person who just booked a 5 digit Disney Concierge Cruise for September 2023 because I want my family to experience. For the price, we could get a suite on just about any other cruise like for 1/2 to a 1/3 of the price...but I want the Disney Experience for my family since it was my favorite cruise. Also...I'm hoping they love it and we can do more cruises and get back to Princess because I do think they do a good job.
I have done 2 Carnival cruises. I loved them both. I also did NCL...it was the cheapest room on the oldest ship and I had a blast. The bed was awful, the itinerary was OK...but it was $249/per person for 7 nights in an inside cabin. I also cruised Holland America and it was not my favorite. Maybe when I'm 70 it will be better, but it is much more of an older crowd. I would love to try Royal Caribbean.
Thanks for the great content. I love watching you both!!!

Wow I'm new to your channel and I throughly enjoyed every bit of your alaska vlogg. I was a little reluctant to watch this one because I don't like to hear bad things about my Princess Cruiseline, but you guys nailed it. The things you had for cons I would agree. Are they a game changer not in the least. Princess is very affordable and the service they provide is top notice. A little suggestion maybe try the winemakers dinner or the chefs table. Outstanding ! Thanks for this review! We've been on 4 Disney cruises and have absolutely loved them and felt they were worth the price. However the cost for an Alaskan cruise on Disney is steep. I've priced Princess and couldn't believe the difference in cost. With your review and knowing we want to see and experience Alaska we don't need to spend more to see Mickey in his Alaskan attire. It's not why we would want to go on an Alaskan cruise. Thanks again!

I will be very curious to see if other Princess cruises are as 'themed' (aka, an Alaskan cruise vs a cruise to Alaska). We've done 1 Princess cruise, Vancouver to Whittier, and I knew we chose correctly when we listened to the naturalist on board and especially when they brought on board a Iditarod musher WITH PUPPIES! The atrium was filled with people holding/playing with puppies! We are going on first Disney cruise soon but are also talking of taking another Alaskan cruise with Princess. Great review Leggs. Great review!

Very nice review. I have cruised Princess many times and will be doing so again in Alaska this year. Another line that is great in Alaska and focuses on Alaska is Holland America. You mentioned Disney is more like a true cruise line experience but Holland America is really like a true cruise experience. Give it a try also.

My husband and I have done a lot of cruises, next cruise (Disney) booked for 51 days from now but..
we did a Princess cruise in 2021 and loved it, except for the Good spirits cocktail show. We found that to be quite flat. There was no passion, we felt unwanted for want of a better expression.
The staff seemed bored and we felt intrusive. I particularly wanted to try a peanut butter whisky based cocktail, but they said they had none, no offer of an alternative cocktail ..I just felt like a nuisance, I’ve never felt that anywhere else on the Sky Princess or any other ship.
We never went back to the Good Spirits bar. We felt it may be more suited to groups rather than couples.
Anyway, Disney magic in Northern Europe with our grandchildren in August is very close and *very* exciting (Lilly and Lucas’ first cruise)
We love watching you guys and you’ve definitely put Alaska on our radar! Stay safe, stay happy, hugs to you both and only good wishes to you. 😘🥰😍

I have sailed Alaska on three different lines, soon to be four. Princess is my favorite and especially from Whittier.

Thanks for the balanced, detailed, and honest review. Glad you had such a great trip. I too enjoy Disney Cruise Line, but the prices they charge are indeed sky high compared with what one can get on other cruise lines. And while I have not cruised Alaska on Disney, I can believe it would be a Disney cruise first and an Alaska cruise second (which still could be nice, but not what you were seeking). It also seems like you benefited greatly from your cabin upgrade, both in terms of the extra floor space and sofa that you wouldn't have had in a non-deluxe cabin, but also with the balcony. But yeah, I understand how the location wasn't great for getting places, especially on such a big ship.
I was worried in some of your earlier videos about how you kept saying this trip was "relaxing." That can mean pampered with great service, but can also mean boring and lacking in fun activities. Do you wish that there were more things to do on this Princess cruise? Or, would you say there were fewer activities and entertainment options on this cruise vs. a Disney cruise? (Or were roughly the same, other than late at night as you said Princess has more late night (post 10pm) options than Disney?)
I agree with your preference for smaller ships. You might want to see where the Island Princess and Coral Princess are sailing if you try Princess again. Other than those 2 older ships I hear (facility wise) you might be better off on the Royal Princess class ships (i.e. Royal Princess or newer).
You might also want to look into Holland America (HAL) for its similar prices (to Princess), great service, smaller ships (i.e. similar in size to Disney Magic and Wonder). Although the beds on HAL are not good (far below that of Disney or Princess). The decor on HAL is old world, kind of like Disney, but I think also elegant. There are fewer food options on Holland America than Princess, but a bit more than on Disney. HAL has a good variety of itineraries and is certainly a premium experience.

This was so incredibly helpful! I’m planning an Alaska cruise for next year! My dad is in a wheelchair and we all have cpaps. I wonder if any of the ADA rooms have more outlets bc that’s a problem!!!

I am a huge Disney fan and was really disappointed that there is no way we can afford to cruise with Disney. We are cruising Alaska with princess next year and y’all have helped me to be confident in where we are putting our money.

A Princess cruise sounds wonderful to me! I’m really not a fan of anything Disney, so you guys can have my spot on the Disney cruises!
I was just wondering how many kids were on the cruise? From your videos it did not look like many.
This Princess Alaskan cruise seems perfect for me, especially since I’m not a warm weather girl!

I have to say that as much as I love DCL, the cost and convenience of Princess is tempting. Alaska is definitely on our bucket list and I suspect it will be on Princess. Maybe we'll see you there! ;)

You know I love my DCL and I will always think they are a cruise line you just can’t compare BUT I have done Carnival and I love them too. Their cruise director and cruise entertainment staff are phenomenal and it is the FUN ship. I have had great experiences with staff and like any other line I have my cons but overall Carnival is a great cruise line just stay away from their shorter cruises, with them I would recommend sticking to 7 days or longer. Love you guys tried another line and I’m still pondering on the thought if Mickey and Minnie in their Alaska gear is worth it because they are just so darn cute 🥰

So glad you loved your Princess cruise. Do you think it would be just as great if you'd been on your own or do you think traveling as a group added to your experience? So glad you still love Disney as well... It seems some vloggers show a lot of disdain towards Disney right now... So glad your back home with Missy and had such a great time 💕🤗

You should try as many cruise lines as you can. Try the Carnival Panorama out of Long Beach or the Mardi Gras out of Port Canaveral. They are the most budget friendly line and you get a lot for your money. But all cruise lines have their loyalists because they give their passengers a great time!

I have did 2 Carnival cruises.. they were great (except for seasickness on the 1st one..took me 2 weeks back on land to get my equilibrium back)always have been told the Alaskan cruises are the most enjoyable by people who are cruise savy. Do you think because the Cruise wasn't fully booked (I don't at what capacity the ship was booked ) it added to the experience. I thought you would have talked about Karoke since y'all had a blast going to it..lol. Thanks for sharing the cruise with us! Oh ,and I have seen 3 other TH-cam vloggers do the Alaskan Princess cruise on their channels also, thought maybe Princee Cruise Line had reached out to TH-camrs .

As an longtime, many-times cruiser of Princess, loved watching your vlogs and hearing your comments. I wondered how you liked the coffee package. I do love you can get all the coffee and drinks by room service. I had my return to cruising (after the pause) in April 2022 on new Discovery Princess, and friends and I all found Sabatini’s lacking there too (friends also found it lacking on Ruby) so maybe it’s a challenge right now on many ships on Princess, which is a shame. However Crown Grill always terrific on each of my cruises. Also, now, Discovery and a couple other ships since Royal have the French Bistro (as 3rd specialty) and that was also amazing on my April Cruise. Also, have you considered saving on airfare and doing a 2 week back-to-back from Whittier?

Loved your cruise blogs, has definitely opened my eyes. I’m curious though, what was the price difference for the room you actually had compared to what you paid? I have been priced out of Disney and will be trying other lines.

Glad you like Disney cruises we prefer Carnival, we do not have young children and I can go on two Carnival cruises in a balcony cabin for what it would cost us to go on 2 Disney cruises. To each his own. Enjoyed your vlogs of the Alaska cruise.

Love this review, thank you do much! We are eyeing Princess for Alaska in 2023. We have done 3 Royal Caribbean cruises and 5 Disney. None to Alaska and it’s hard to justify Disney prices for that…
We have one kid who will be a teen next year and that’s the only thing possibly keeping us from cruising Princess. However, their new ship Discovery Princess in Alaska looks amazing. Good to know Royal princess is great too!

Are you able to make a list of local shops for each port from the Alaska cruise? My husband and I are going next August and would really like to support local shops in port!
