Broooo, thank you so much. I have a 2018 2 series. It didn't even had carplay (they asked me 400bucks at the dealer) I did everything you did in the video, and in less than 15minutes everything was working
Anytime bro 🍻 couldn’t tell you for sure about the touch screen cause mine didn’t have it to start. Our Nardo F80 does though and I’ll be updating that soon so will be curious to see. I would think it does.
I'm not familiar with mhd but I wouldn't think so since CarPlay is limited to the head unit module. You could reach out to mhd to be sure but, at the very least, maybe have a backup of your map.
If I already have CarPlay, but not full screen, is it still the same fee through BIMMER-remote and the same process, or is it a different fee/process to just get it to full screen?
I'd guess you'd have to pay the $60 to bimmer-remote anyway. I'm not certain since my car didn't have CarPlay at all but, if it were me, I'd try doing full screen through BimmerCode. Worst case scenario you have all the other features of the app. I'd double check on forums or something other people's experience getting full screen CarPlay to work with BC though.
I just did this on my F36 from 2019, I bought it used with lifetime carplay already enabled, but not fullscreen let me tell you IT'S A WORLDS DIFFERENCE having it in fullscreen DAMN
Thx for the video, I really appreciate it! But I do have „one or two“ problems to do it like you… First: I do not have a Windows Laptop or any Windows PC since 2012, and I never will be. Like you we‘re an Apple household and I will not buy even an used older Windows Laptop to code. Second: I was dumb enough in 2018 to buy the Apple CarPlay option via ConnectedDrive Store for my 2017 F31 330dA xDrive LCI… And it was really expensive but I did want to have Apple CarPlay. And there comes my third and biggest issue: Now I have CarPlay since 2018 when I bought my 2017 F31, but NOT in Fullscreen and that sucks to the moon and back! 🤬🤮 Is there any way to „update“ my existing CarPlay to FullScreen Mode? Do you know a way? Cause tbh: I will not pay 54 Dollar or Euro for only getting my existing CarPlay to Fullscreen Mode! It would be awesome if someone could help me with that. Any tips/tricks/hints are highly appreciated! And if it matters: I do own BimmerCode and an Adapter for it. Thanks in advance and kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
Hey Philipp.. Germany! Nice! My dad is from Hann. Münden 🇩🇪 👍 Fortunately since you already have BimmerCode, you should be able to code in fullscreen CarPlay; it's under the head unit section. I wasn't able to test it since the version I got was already fullscreen, but I've read that people were able to use BimmerCode to successfully upgrade. Hope that helps!
At first i tried bimmer code on my 2018 f22. Did not make it full screen. The 1/3 side of the screen where items would usually be just turned white. would you happen to know if i need to code it back to stock inorder for this to work?
Not entirely sure but one thing to check is that you have the latest version of iDrive for your car and also that split screen is disabled. I would check iDrive version; if there's a possible update, revert your BimmerCode change, update, and then check that split screen is disabled (might be in HU_ENTRYNAV or something similar and labeled as split screen display or widget area), and try again. Hope that helps.
I've read that iDrive 5.0 and up should be compatible but if you have the ENavEvo system it may not work (though some people say it can but you need the wifi adapter). Best bet is to contact any one of these places that sells activation codes and see what your options are. I got mine from bimmer-remote.com/ and they were quick to respond to questions.
Mine came without CarPlay but if you had it with an earlier version of iDrive, it only displayed on 3/4 (I think) of the screen.. so this makes it fullscreen for all versions.
Thanks bro. I didn’t see anything about android from where I got my CarPlay license but check bimmer plug or turner motorsports; they sell head units with android.

I don't know why but when I clicked on this video, I was surprised seeing it only 3k views. I was expecting 150k or more. Nice quality. Keep on going.
Really appreciate it brother, thanks for that! 🍻

Man that's awesome.. so glad to hear! $400 is bullshit for what should have been free in the first place (and now is).
Very informative and easy to follow!
Glad to hear! Thanks for the feedback bro - much appreciated 🙏
Thank you so much it worked perfectly.
So glad to hear brother.. enjoy 🍻
Hell ya, you made it super straight foward and easy, gonna do this to my m4!
Thanks so much brother! Glad to hear. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade 🍻
Thanks for really helpful and easy to follow guide!
Glad you found it helpful brother 🍻
I payed 28€ for this on ebay this week, worked fine on my g31 👌
Nice man, that's a great price 🍻
Thank you sir! Does the touch screen still work?
Anytime bro 🍻 couldn’t tell you for sure about the touch screen cause mine didn’t have it to start. Our Nardo F80 does though and I’ll be updating that soon so will be curious to see. I would think it does.
@@AlwaysSummerGarage I’ll let you know, loading it tomorrows.
@@AlwaysSummerGarage got it and touch screen still works, kick ass! Thanks again!!
I hope it’s that easy on my f83 m4 I’ll check the vin should I remove mhd before flashing ?

Nice! No idea why they thought split screen was a good idea in the first place.
Could you make a video on the free method as well
Yeah I meant to try that for Nardo but totally forgot.. I'll see if I can. Thanks for the suggestion 🍻
Thx for the video, I really appreciate it!

Would you be able to do this with just usb?
I think some/later versions of iDrive allow you to load the software via usb but you'd have to check the site.
At first i tried bimmer code on my 2018 f22. Did not make it full screen. The 1/3 side of the screen where items would usually be just turned white. would you happen to know if i need to code it back to stock inorder for this to work?

Can you activate it on multiple cars with the same code of FeatureInstaller?
I don’t think so.. pretty sure it’s one activation code per car.
Can you use dcan cable to code this?
I don't see why not, but I'd double check the requirements on their site.
I did a VIN check on my 2016 m3 using the link provided and it said "CarPlay Activation is not compatible", does that mean I cant do it?
I've read that iDrive 5.0 and up should be compatible but if you have the ENavEvo system it may not work (though some people say it can but you need the wifi adapter). Best bet is to contact any one of these places that sells activation codes and see what your options are. I got mine from bimmer-remote.com/ and they were quick to respond to questions.
why does it say fullscreen activation ? did you have apple carplay orginally with small screen or didn't you have any sort of apple carplay before ?
Mine came without CarPlay but if you had it with an earlier version of iDrive, it only displayed on 3/4 (I think) of the screen.. so this makes it fullscreen for all versions.
@@AlwaysSummerGarage thank you for the reply, my car doesn’t have any sort of apple carplay too
My m5 has a latest version of head unit and it wont work i tried unfortunately
That sucks.. depending on where you got it, maybe they can remote code/troubleshoot for you (I think bimmer-remote does that with iDrive updates)
@@AlwaysSummerGarage I will ask bimmercode
How long does it take to get the activation code?
It took about 12 hours from order to getting the code.
Does this work on 2015. F80 m3?
Here's the site I used to check compatibility: www.bimmer-tech.net/compatibility/carplay-activation
Heey very cool Video,
Is there Android car inclueded ??
Thanks in advance and kind regards from Germany
Thanks bro. I didn’t see anything about android from where I got my CarPlay license but check bimmer plug or turner motorsports; they sell head units with android.
Will this void the warranty of the car? THank you.
Personally I'm not 100% sure but I got mine from bimmer-remote.com and they claim it doesn't void the warranty.
