I 100% believe these parents. A Mum shows up at 3am - the normal response from any nurse on duty would be to chat with the parent - are you okay, cant sleep? your baby is doing well, do you want to cuddle her etc. Letby's actions are damning - she'd just been caught red handed!! Hope these parents get justice too for the hell they were put through!! So glad Felicity is doing well. Best wishes to her and her parents for a long, healthy, fruitful life ahead. Cheers from Oz!!

My baby daughter was born 3 months ago and the NHS midwives and hospital staff were very professional and supportive. This monster has tainted the good caring workers with her vicious attacks and murders. We do not have the death penalty in the UK but if you ask me even the death sentance is too humane for her. She put those innocent babies under her care in considerable pain before they died. Thankfully she did not succeed in killing all of her intended targets. This evil b**ch deserves a lifetime of torture and pain.

I agree something doesn't add up because in press photos she's always smiling when around babies. And then there are the sympathy cards she wrote to parents of babies who died. She even photographed her sympathy notes and kept them on her phone. She also made a point of speaking to parents after their babies had died. Yet in this case she didn't even greet the mom and just walked away from the cot. Then seconds later when all hell broke loose she was nowhere to be seen. Very odd.

  • @doggerel49

Poor Felicity. If she were intubated at the time, but on CPAP as her parents stated, Lucy could have easily momentarily silenced the ventilator's alarms... then dialed the pressure(s) of the CPAP way up, basically blowing a hole (a pneumothorax) in Felicity's lung very quickly, just like an overinflated balloon would pop. Surfactant is a lifesaver -- it helps keep those tiny air sacs (alveoli) open, it was likley not the cause of the collapsed lung, as sometimes a spontaneous pneumothorax can occur when those air sacs are stuck closed. Surfactant helps keep them open. Lucy could have stood at the bedside, dialed the ventilator's pressure(s) back down (as mom was approaching), and quickly leave. It would not take very long for the baby to decompensate, drop oxygen saturation, heart rate and "crash"/"code" ("collapse"). Getting Felicity out of that hospital, and away from Lucy...saved her life!

The mother's gut feelings to check on her baby at 3am is remarkably telling. It is highly suspicious that Letby was at the infants bedside just moments before the infant collapsed and yet didn't respond when the alarms started sounding. If she was the nurse caring for the baby she should have responded immediately! That is a huge red flag. I have been a NICU nurse for 35 years and suspect Letby did something to precipitate the infants pneumothorax (lung collapse), although it may be difficult for investigators to prove. Pneumothorax is not an uncommon complication in premature infants especially if there is respiratory distress, mechanical ventilation, or CPAP which this baby was on. Even in a situation with mild respiratory distress and a stable baby, a pneumothorax can occur suddenly and that is something I always watch for when caring for those infants. It is only speculation but she could have forced excess air into the lungs via the CPAP tubing. That is plausible because in other cases she used air as a weapon by injecting it into the circulatory system or the gut. If the pneumothorax was caused by her it will be more difficult to prove, unlike the telltale signs of discolored blotchy skin from an air embolism, or a measurable amount of insulin confirming an intentional overdose was given. My heart goes out to all these families.

I take your point, but it’s also important to provoke discussion amongst parents who could have been affected by this to jog their own memories to understand the full scale of the potential crimes. The example of “I could have got hit by a drunk driver” doesn’t work, due to the circumstances of that child’s collapse. It’s highly probable given her MO that was was an attack as they’ve described. The inquiry could fail due to a lack of evidence and anything that promotes people to think over their particular circumstances is a good thing - including media. The inquiry can then, having received a larger volume of statements, make a judgement on validity or otherwise.

@@AKUBARIKI where exactly in the trial did either side say anything about how, when the increased deaths started and over those 18months, the hospital had JUST opened their Level 1 NICU. WHEN did they mention the total 31-32 infant deaths during those 18 months, only 7-8 of which Letby was present for or connected to? WHEN did they bring up the violation in nurse/infant ratio, specifically in the Level 1 unit which is SUPPOSED to be 1:1 since it’s the most premature, sickest, most critical babies-their ratios were usually 2:1, sometimes 3:1. I understand it’s being brought up after the fact as a part of a possible investigation into the hospital..but, considering this was only happening during the period of the Level 1 unit, the time when there were skyrocketing deaths, obviously most that weren’t even connected to Letby; that MAYBE it should have been brought up during the trial?
I’m NOT saying I’m absolutely convinced the young lady is innocent. I AM saying that there are a lot of issues which SHOULD have been brought up, and weren’t.
As someone who has worked in medicine since the 1970’s, starting as a NICU nurse, then ER RN-Paramedic before returning to Med School at age 32; and I now have a NP Daughter who has been working in the ER for 15yrs; I personally watched and experienced the changes in healthcare in the US. I have friends and former colleagues in the UK and Canada who have witnessed similar, yet less extreme changes. One thing I believe may be applicable in this case is the length that administration will go to to cover their own rear-ends, whether for hospital reputation, money, positions, or a combination. Rather than admit fault and make constructive changes; it seems more hospitals are willing to throw their nurses under the bus to shield themselves. Not many years ago whilst working with a nearby Med School; I witnessed a Senior Resident and 4th year student TRY and put blame on an ICU Nurse. Thankfully they failed as I wasn’t the only witness; but my dear friend and colleague let me know this was a common tactic and had hospital admin been brought into the situation, the outcome would have been very different.
My career was my life. But today, I’m grateful I don’t have to deal with the politics and our “new” policy of putting profits and certain people’s personal power; over the lives of my patients. It hurts me to the core to watch what my daughter has to deal with on a daily basis, when her primary concern SHOULD be doing the best she can for her patients. Not an easy task in a trauma center with a 1:6+ nurse-patient ratio. They went on strike over a year ago when the hospital announced staffing cuts as well as cuts to their benefits. The hospital insisted it was suffering because of the virus and what they claimed was “very little government assistance”. Their local media actually did their jobs, for a change, and uncovered not only one of the largest assistance grants in her state; the company that owns her hospital had just purchased a franchise of 6 “gyms” as well as announced plans to begin construction on a new private hospital and connected nursing home facility. They settled the strike, rather quietly, but have yet to fulfill everything on their side of the agreement. They also “quietly” threatened my daughter and others if they dare try and cause anymore problems. Specifically, they assured her they could end her career. She and her husband are researching jobs outside the US. Her step-brother and sister-in-law live and work in the medical field in Europe (not UK) and are helping them.
I understand societies and people change over time. I’m also aware there are issues in healthcare everywhere; especially after the chaos of the past 3 years. Neither of us went into medicine to get wealthy. But the changes I see today, scare the daylights out of me for our future.
If you watched that entire video and don’t recognize the very obvious problems it brings up; I don’t know what to tell you. There’s also now a website with a blog post that outlines the very specific issues. I didn’t even mention the non-specific circumstantial evidence which is a whole other rant. Also, my problem isn’t just with the prosecution in this case; the defense was highly negligent for not bringing light to these issues. If the young lady is guilty; then she deserves the punishment and demonization she is receiving. But, at this point, I don’t believe the jury was given the full picture of the case; important facts left out, misleading statements and charts. If the young lady has been wrongly convicted; it’s an absolute travesty and even mockery of the “justice” system. It’s happened before.

sadly serial killers often start with less severe crimes. i'm am 1000 percent positive she started doing shit like pinching the kids and it just escalated to collapsing baby felicities lungs to eventually getting fairly efficient at killing human babies. she thought of murder long before she entered that ward

    The parents need to sue!
Lucy had so much protection & coverup’s for her evil deeds, seems she wasn’t working alone. Someone in that hospital at the top must be involved too! They should see if the babies organs are still there.
She had too much protection in that hospital it doesn’t make sense, professional doctor’s came forwards & was made to apologise to her 🤯 sick.

  • @SatumainenOlento

Already in the year 2013!!! 😱😱😱 How many, how many?
She might not be only Britains most notorious child killer soon!
Her using not detectable methods and varying them is going to be very difficult task in tracking all the victims. She was suspected of 30 attacks in years 2015-2016. I think that we will never know the extent of her crimes (just like she said herself). But as many as possible should be brought out to the open and investigated for the parents sake and to bring improvements to the system.
