    Very good words. I'm the only woman I know who covers. I use the wide headband and kerchief style. I'm not hiding that I'm wearing it at all. But I also don't want to draw a lot attention to me. I feel like that is kind of the opposite of the point.

      I am just now beginning to feel the conviction of head covering and found the wide headband style suitable as well!
      They say that covering was a cultural thing that ended but we should not throw out the spiritual practice of covering to suit the culture! We should find suitable culturally acceptable covers for this time and keep the command to cover! I hope that more Christian designers put forth beautiful, simple, feminine head coverings that will not deter women from this amazing spiritual privilege. Bless you!

      I started the same way. The more my community got used to me the more my cover became what style I needed. I still bounce between a kerchief and a full hair cover. At home I use a wide band because it’s easier w 3 under 5 and an infant lol.

    I bought a few different styles from Garlands of Grace and settled on the one that works best for me. I bought it in 6 colors. I keep 2 (black and brown) in my purse. I keep a cream in my Bible bag. I keep a navy and a dark green in my dresser that I'll wear with certain outfits. And my oldest dark purple that is stretched out I keep on my school cart to grab during Bible teaching times and praying before meals. I like to grab my beanie during winter and my baseball style hat in the summer. I've also been known to wear my daughter's blanket on my head when praying with them before bed. Anything can work in a pinch but then I like to have my actual "head coverings" for church and ladies Bible studies. Thanks for sharing Alice! 💕

      Yes! I feel like if I fully covered my head people would look at me odd and I don’t want to be a distraction. I bought a church head covering (before I just used the stretchy headbands that the fabric could be pulled apart to make bigger) and I felt like people really were doing double takes when they looked at me.

    In the two years I’ve been covering I’ve gone through many types and styles, finally deciding the hat is what my ancestors wore and serves me well -being of UK heritage myself but we’ve been in America since the 1600’s. I believe Paul is talking about covering the head-and the original text is ‘head’, not ‘hair’-in the customary way. At the time, before ladies hats were customary, it was cloth scarves. But hats are cloth shaped into a form so should be perfectly acceptable by all. Paul does wind up by saying (in I Cor11:10) a woman should wear a ‘symbol’ of authority on her head so my take is this could be a headband for some. It’s not enough for me but I can understand it if a sister went that route; it is on the head.
    I too live in a hot humid environment for 8 months out of the year so at that time I will put my hair up and wear a straw hat. Whatever a woman chooses is her understanding. God will respect it and teach her as she is obedient.

      @LettieAsh 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm also an American with UK heritage. In the South, ladies used to wear church hats often, especially around Easter. They are still very popular among African American women down here and are called "church crowns." The only issue is that many churches here are becoming modernized to where a formal hat would stand out too much, and a ball cap would be too casual. I'm looking into wide headbands right now but would love to find a good hat to wear each Sunday.

    The wide headbands do work great if you have thick or curly hair and want to wear it down. I have found that gaiters folded in half work very well as a wide headband too. They are not too obvious and they cover the head pretty well. If I feel like I want to cover all of my hair I use a scarf and tie a bun in the back.

    Hello dear women of god,
    I've got just a little story to share. I'm 24, a catholic christian and I live in germany. I believe 1 ½ years ago I bought my first white mantilla veil. I was the only one covering (right now sometimes I see a lady with a black veil). Ever since then god transformed me in the topic of modesty. It got to a point, where I couldn't sleep at night or wasn't able to focus. I was led to ,,traditional modesty" which led me to buy my first long skirt and very loose clothes at H&M. But my attention was drawn more to the clothes muslim women would wear. Since they don't ,,own" modesty I was giving it a try. God knew it was for >>me

    Putting your hair up in a bun then covering the bun with a small snood is sufficient for hot climates. Or even wearing your long hair in snood so that your hair is off your neck is another way of being cooler in hot climates and being obedient to head covering commands. Also wearing ornate surgical caps is an excellent way of head covering, as each cap can be made in one of three different styles to suit different hair lengths.

I am Christian woman and I have done a lot of research on head coverings and how it really used to be such a common thing up until feminism unfortunately. I have stopped using a head covering since I moved to a new place and now walk to and from work or anywhere else for that matter so I sweat alot and almost suffered from a heat stroke the other day. I live in Malaysia so it is very hot and humid, also I am the only Christian girl I know that wears a head covering outside of church and so everything just got to me that I thought I didn't actually have to use it but in the 2 months that I stopped, it just feels like I am not heeding to my calling. Like I am running away from a promise I made to God. So I have switched to using bandanas a few days ago, when I walk and when I get to where I need to be, I switch to a scarf or shawl. I really do respect the Muslim women here who cover their heads all the time when it is so hot but they never waver and it has taught me that lesson - that this is a SACRIFICE I chose and GOD is above ALL THINGS. Especially, my discomfort in the heat. PRAY FOR ME❤🙏

It is always so important that we base our lives on the word of God so that when called upon to make a sacrifice we will remain strong. So happy to see that you are choosing to remain steadfast in your conviction. Some women cover only at church (like myself) and some women choose to cover all the time because that is their conviction. If you believe you should cover all the time, I respect that. I'm curious, have you found that courage yet? If yes, how wonderful! If no, perhaps I can encourage you by asking you to ponder the thought... better to be looked at as strange by the world now and obey God, or fit in now and be judged by God later? I want to clarify I do not want to come across as condescending, but rather trying to be an encouragement to you. I am new to headcovering myself. My husband and I have been talking, praying, and studying about it for about a year now, and actually being convicted that that is indeed what scripture says and actually practicing it for about a month. It is very awkward at times, but I truly believe I am obeying God by doing it. I wouldn't go so far as to say that people that aren't are sinning, I am trying to be very careful as to not come across legalistic about it. But, I believe the ones who have been convicted of it and still aren't doing it should examine their hearts and figure out why they are choosing not to.

    @headcovering ok im re writing my commemt cause i watched more videos that i guess answered my questions. So you're saying that this is a command from God yet you also say its not a salvation issue but it's for Obedience. I see a few others in the comments saying women are in sin for not covering during corporate worship. So is it a sin or not?
    If this is how it's supposed to be why can't others see this in scripture ? Where Paul says "judge for yourselves" and "no such custom" is what seems to have us giving different opinions but how you explained it did make sense . I even have a KJV Greek hebrew concordance study bible by AMG publishers that says in the footnotes that Paul left the decision to the corinthians whether to cover or not.
    I hear pastors say that Paul was just talking about authority and Creation order and roles of God Men then women. I wish Paul was more clear in what he was saying in certain texts so that there wouldnt be any questions or debate.
    I had reservations about this topic cause it seems petty. Is God so concerned with a piece of fabric? And how come back then and even today during their worship Jewish Men cover their heads and women do not. Why did this get reversed after believing and following Jesus the messiah?

    • @headcovering
      @headcovering  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @michaelprovidence9961 Perhaps our place in history makes the passage appear more obscure to us, whereas about 150+ years ago, we wouldn't have had much trouble reaching a consensus. It might help to read David Phillip's book, Head Covering Throughout Church History. In it, one can see that previous to our modern era, there wasn't nearly so much division and confusion surrounding this issue. Perhaps our confusion comes not so much from any non-clearness of the text itself as it does from the way modern scholars have re-interpreted this passage to reflect our modern sensibilities?
      It's not the piece of cloth that's so important; it's what that cloth represents. The cloth is a tangible way (kind of like the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper reminds us of Christ's physical sacrifice) to remember an important spiritual truth related to our place before God and male/female roles. However, if we try and replace the cloth with something else, the message will lose its strength. Any further questions? We recommend reading the many articles on our site: headcoveringmovement.com/
