      If you are worried about school dress code, contact the school. My school added this to their dress code: "no headscarves or head coverings of any kind except for religious purposes". A school cannot say no to something you are doing for your religion. I would talk to your parents about this and how you feel, pray about it, and then ask a parent to contact your school just to make them aware

    I'm Quaker, and participate in modern plain dress. We Quakers wear a headcovering for a different reason than most Christians do, but it is good for all of us who practice headcovering, no matter what religion we practice, to be able to share tips and tricks without judgement or proselytization. I am glad to see many non-christians here benefiting from these videos! We are all in this together! And as a Quaker I believe we are all reflections of the divine, no matter what. It's not just for praying and prophesying, it's also for the angels. A woman's hair is her own glory. It is only befitting a woman of God to glorify her Creator and groom in Messiah by covering up her own glory so as to allow the world to see Him through her. This is why it's so important "for the angels". Blessed are those who believe though have not yet seen Him. It is a protection for us as women, it puts authority on our head because it shows visibly that we are under God's authority, and a glory to Him who first loved us instead of showcasing our own glory. I cover, and it has changed my life. I will never go back, even if it's not required.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I loved them. So beautiful. I felt called to cover a few years ago and have found so much joy, peace and comfort in it. And I feel way less attacked by the enemy. My mind is way more calm and at peace since covering. I'm assuming it has to do with the section about our covered heads being a symbol of us being under authority to angles in 1 Cor 11:10?
    Covering has really helped me to humble myself, especially in a world of looks and outward appearances meaning so much, which sadly is even in the church. We are called to be set apart, different, unusual, spotless, and blamelesss, not look and act like the world around us. I was called out publicly for it in church from the pulpit which was so embarrassing, but I didn't let it get to me too much becuase people have been taught differently. And yes, when God called me to cover, I struggled with the feminismic attitude of not wanting to humble myself under my husband. I grew up in the church and had never known anyone to cover and never heard teaching on it, so I can see how people simply don't understand it. In my research I studied 1 Cor 11 for months and months. Especailly looking into the meanings in Greek.
    The word for covering in 1 Corthians 11:4, 5,6,7, 13, is the word, katakalýptō, from katá, "down, and kalýptō, "to cover"-cover down, to make appropriate (complete), i.e. to wear a veil.
    It is the same word used for the veil that separated the Holy of holies from the priests. It is clearly taking about a peice of fabric.
    But vrs 15 does NOT use the same word for covering. Vrs 15. "but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering."
    This is a different word for "cover"= "peribolaion," that which is thrown around or a mantel that can be thrown around (As in when a women tosses or throws her hair around, or a mantel that rest on the shoulders. So hair is considered long if it touches the shoulders) tossing the hair can be very alluring to men.
    This is where we get the saying, "Let your hair down."
    Up until only the last generation woman covered in Church. It was only during the sexual revolution that Chriatin women in North America stopped covering their heads. ALL of our grandmothers would have covered in church. This is why the Hutterites, Mennonites, Amish, orthodox churches, and messiniac Jews (Jews who beleive in Jesus), a lot of African congratations, etc still cover their hair.
    We are not supposed to be like the world. Thank you so much for sharing.
    Also, here's some verses in the OT about head covering if anyone is interested. Hope these help if anyone wants to read them.
    Isaiah 47:1-2. Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones and grind flour, "put off your veil", strip off your robe, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers.
    (So as we can see, even virgins were to keep their heads covered and save their hair for their husbands. Otherwise it is like they are showing all their nakedness).
    Numbers 5:18. Then the priest shall stand the woman before the LORD, "uncover the woman’s head," and put the offering for remembering in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that brings a curse.
    Also Genesis 20:16 says in the Hebrew
    Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this is "a covering for her eyes" (to put back on her wedding covering) you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked.
    From what I understand In Genesis 24:65. Rebekah covers herself because the bridal price has already been paid. 2 vrs later we see Isaac take Rebekah bright away into his tent. There was no wedding ceremony. Her covering herself was an outward show of her marriage to Isaac. Since they were married he was allowed to take her right away into his tent and "uncover" her.

      @dianaludwig6861 Yes, I have had that experience, as well, though my hair is not course, but fine. I almost always wear a braid or bun under my covering. Something to try might be to wear a low ponytail -- that way, your hair will still be loose, but it won't get tangled as easily.

      @@headcovering After wearing the head covering constantly for months and seeing my frustration at trying to get the tangles out of my hair, my husband is more supportive of my hair being braided or up in a bun. The only time I leave it long under my head covering is after I wash it. It is so thick- almost to my waist-that it would simply not dry if it is braided or in a bun. I appreciate this video and the dialogue. Something that continues to elude me is the fact that in Corinthians head coverings were required during prayer and prophesying. Are women covering full time bc that's a personal choice or because they believe the scriptures compel them? Ive only read the command being mentioned for prayer and prophecy. Also, I see many in the comments saying "her is hair still showing!" But the Bible said a " *head* covering" not " *hair* covering." How did we jump from covering the head to hiding hair? I think bc we are so accustomed to seeing Muslim women with their hair completely out of sight we assume our duty is to follow their example. But why? Is that what we're called to? To model ourselves after Islamic practices? No one in my church covers their heads but I think I will during prayer (and should I ever prophesy). Beyond that I probably wont because the scriptures don't command it.

      Paul is saying head covering but with the purpose of covering the hair. The woman's hair is her glory and she covers her glory in submission to her husband and reverence to God. If she is not covering her hair she should cut it off, which Paul says in 1 Cor 1, so if it is cut off she does not need to cover her head. That would imply that the hair should either be covered or cut off.

    I have been drawn to wearing a head covering for a long time. Like a lot of women, I saw it as a Muslim woman's practice. The Amish and Mennonite women wear a beautiful particular kind of head covering.
    Thank God for people like you, and the internet. Reading the Bible - like we are supposed to be doing - says we are to cover our heads. I am now putting head coverings on and enjoying every moment of it. I started last year when it got warm I quit. I think I was worried about the looks I was getting. I am now back to wearing head coverings (except at work because they won't allow it - but that's okay) I am so happy to be wearing head coverings again and this time it is for the rest of my Life.
    I just checked out Garlands of Grace.
    So many beautiful options to choose from.
    I fear wearing head coverings will become a fad, and the wrong kind of women will wear them just for the attention.

If the women's hair is her glory and she is to cover her glory in submission to her husband and reverence to God then wouldn't it mean to cover all the hair?

    • @headcovering
      @headcovering  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Bible definitely forbids ostentatious dress, but that doesn't mean the only application is plain dress with no jewelry. We'll make an analogy to how the Bible forbids drunkenness. Because of that command, abstaining from alcohol is one faithful application to that command, but not the only. It's possible to drink in moderation and abstain from drunkenness. In the same way, it's possible to wear make-up, jewelry, and be fashionable without being ostentatious.

    Long hair replaces the woman's cloth veil covering. Men have to keep their hair short otherwise they would also have a head covering. Paul did not say for woman to cover their hair/glory but to cover their head with long hair.

      @@maryb.1313 , you say : we are commanded to cover our head , not our hair ; in other words you say that a woman's hair is her covering when praying or prophesying because her skull is covered with her hair . Listen, if a woman's head covering is her hair instead of a large scarf over her hair , 1st Corinthians11:6 doesn't make sense anymore since the first part of such a verse becomes this :"if a woman doesn't have hair on her head, she should have her hair cut off . . ."
      So , a Christian woman's head covering is not her hair , but rather a large scarf covering her hair , that's to say her head.
      The Apostle Paul didn't write that a woman's long hair is her head covering ; he has rather written that a woman's long hair is her ORNAMENT according to 1st Corinthians11: 15 from André Chouraqui Bible Version which gives us the accurate translation of Apostle Paul's corresponding greek text.

The purpose of covering was to give glory to God and not be the center of attention. This video and many like it are meant to look attractive and think that you are pleasing God. My grandma used to just drape her scarf over her head and was so modest. My mother always tied her hair and that was good enough for her. As a person who seems to be someone who understands the nuances of human behaviour I can tell you that women wearing head coverings in the church definitely bring peace to the men in the congregation.
    Those women who are wise enough and strong enough to cover their heads in church are doing a wonderful thing.
    But hey is it really necessary all the time.
    If the bible says yes it is then yes it’s got to be done.
    But as I don’t know all the scriptures that pertains to this I cannot comment further other than saying that it’s nice to see a women’s beautiful hair.
    Yes if they cover it all the time it’s going to make some men feel more confident, but hey those women who cover their faces to make men feel more secure isn’t the way to go. And I would suggest that full time head covering isn’t the way to go either.

      paulwilfridhunt why does female head covering bring peace to men I wonder?

    • @paulwilfridhunt
      @paulwilfridhunt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Judi Moss It’s a great question.
      I think for me to get the right answer as to why a women in the church, wearing a hat or a scarf brings peace to men in the pews, I think I’d need more time to think about it.
      But maybe the men, from the sight of women in church, covering their heads to reverence God with obedience, are perceiving that this humble trait of reverencing God, by denying the sight of their hair to others, and hence denying themselves the confidence normally gained from it, is perhaps resulting in men believing that women could reverence them too.
      And as men are desirous of being properly admired by woman for their manly qualities, they perhaps perceive that this humble head covering display is also, simultaneously, sending them a potential message of cooperation and willingness to be served or ministered to by women.
      If Jesus needed to be ministered to by women then how more do us men need it.
      Mark 15:41 King James Version (KJV)
      41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem
      Thats a bit of a long winded reply and it’s just a guess at this stage.
      I could say more but I guess that’s plenty enough.
      If I get any more thoughts on it I will send you a post.

      The reason women cover all the time is because of exactly what you said “it is nice to see a woman’s beautiful hair” many believe it is for their husband only and other men don’t need to be looking at it. It is a modesty issue, the final vanity killer and shows humility and spiritual strength that they are submitted by willing choice to authority.

    • @annaandbrettf8520
      @annaandbrettf8520 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of the belief that it should be worn full time comes from the verse about praying with ceasing. If it is to be worn while praying and we must continually be in a state of prayer then it makes sense to wear it full time.

    • @paulwilfridhunt
      @paulwilfridhunt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@annaandbrettf8520 It’s debatable as to the exact meaning of praying without ceasing. Does it actually mean continuous prayer that never stops? Or is it more likely to mean to never give up the habit of praying. And as it’s possible to give up praying and forsake it, because of years of praying, it probably means don’t quit with praying and your prayer time, because the time might arrive that you’ll be tempted to do so. Yes it’s good to pray continuously if one can, but realistically it’s not possible unless you’re a monk that’s surrounded by other monks who have taken a vow silence. Therefore what may we conclude from this matter? Does it mean that the beautiful hair that God has given to women to adorn themselves with, that is their glory, and it significantly contributes to their good confidence, should it be perpetually hidden with a scarf? And if it is hidden not only does the women suffer but so too do the men, for they like see a woman’s beautiful hair. But if men are weak and need women to figuratively cover themselves in sack cloth and ashes to accommodate their weakness then I say it’s it a pity to see such a thing as a man who is so weak.
