Finally some IFR flying. Reggie and Steve thanks for the shot out, and ATC compliments. You sometimes will get new squawk code issued when you cross over different center boundaries. Another aircraft in airspace most likely had your squak code. Your call sign flashes on our radar scope , with a new squak code to issue. I think that military plane was a Dehaviland Caribou . BTW when guys return home to OPF if you file bluffi2 arrival ask for DIRECT HEATT with PBI atc it will save you a few miles. Great video!!!!
captmorgan6216 Thanks for the explanation on the squawk code change. When coming home down the east coast of Florida we always file the BLUFI2 arrival...PBI ATC is always good at giving us that shortcut. Thanks :)

This time with the passengers and talk and even a little instruction on something I never used the vnav and how to set up a waypoint was very cool I even got some insights on running a turbine engine in this one. Gotta love similar call signs. I remember as a student I was in 14Z and there was a 51Z on the same freq. I answered for his instructions and he answered for mine after we got landing clearances. We got it sorted out eventually. lol

I did this one from LGC to McCollum field but rather coming in from the west we went around stone mountain and through Atlanta and Cobb. Dobbins had a C5 when we passed by too.
I haven't been to Georgia in about 9 years now, and I loved stone mountain. I even have some pictures from there buried on my computer somewhere. I have a friend in Kennesaw and Norcross. I need to get my ass back to Atlanta

Howdy Steve, Linda and Reggie. Welcome to our little corner of heaven, Northwest GA. We appreciate that you find this to be a beautiful place because most of us who live here certainly do. Just a few minutes NW in your awesome TBM is RMG where I took my PPL and instrument rating a few years back. Shot a lot of practice approaches into RYY during that training. Sorry to say that because of the high cost of owning and operating an airplane (Cessna 172) I had to give up recreational flying but when I came across these flight videos I feel as if I am still in the cockpit. Thanks for that. In one of your videos you talked about occasionally feeling the need to to go fly the big iron. If I were you I wouldn't even think about doing that. You have an amazing flying career in my opinion. I really don't see how it could be any better. Flying PIC in two different airplanes and in two different worlds, how could flying get any better? My instrument instructor started flying for a major a few years back. If you could talk to him you might be very happy to be where you are doing what you are doing, IMHO. Please keep these killer videos coming my friend. If you ever come into RMG and have a little time, would love to meet up and go for some delicious chicken wings. My treat. :)

Back during my instrument training I had landed at this exact airport and parked AT THE SAME SPOT YOU PARKED YOUR TBM lol. It's been so long but the FBO was really nice. Oh and shot the same exact approach too, except I broke out at minimums and almost went missed.
Speaking of interesting fix names, up here at Louisville, a major bourbon whiskey producer, the two fixes coming into 35L are 'Bourbon' and 'Jim Beam".
Nice video It brought memories of when I had my plane based at KFFC Atlanta Regional Falcon Field , Georgia. Nice airport and good people at FBO if you have a chance one day and are in the area, drop by. Peachtree City is a nice community, most people move around in golf carts . There is the Dixie Wing of the CAF and they have an interesting museum on the field with restoration facilities. Aircraft Spruce is right outside the airport in case you have to buy something Maybe a good spot to make one of your videos Happy Flying and thanks for posting your videos.
Great job Steve, as always. At 23:05 during the approach to KRYY, you mentioned "the glide slope being 1 dot above". That sounds like you were doing an ILS approach on runway 9. How is that possible since only runway 27 has an ILS?

Hello there Steveo, great videos you got over there, perhaps in a near future could you do some videos(as someone previously mentioned) explaining the radio calls, explain, what you do in Bahamas, startup procedures(C208), what you're looking at what you check over and over, explain the auto pilot, the TCAS, changing radio frequencies, the different airport 'contacts' (approach, exec, tower etc). Go into detail, some of us are "stuck" in 152s and others are aviation simmers and love to hear about it all!!

If you ever fly up to Teterboro, KTEB NJ stop by at TSA (Teterboro School of Aeronautic) or Essex Co KCDW. Everyone loves that TBM and of course Reggie. Oh, yes....... We love you too!!! To answer your transponder code question, it's has to do with automation between the centers. Every time a plane enters a new center's airspace than that center's computer will generate a beacon code for it like it's a new airplane. Sometimes the controller can manually change the code if it's not being used somewhere else in the centers airspace.

That there my friend is a Caribou. Till recently a workhorse with the Australian Airforce down here in OZ. Amazing short field performance. Might give the caravan a run for its money on STOL specs.

I have had a chance to view 2 of your many videos and I have enjoyed both of them. I happened upon one of your Bahama trips from January and enjoyed it. You asked if there was anything else we would like to see. If you have done this already then please let me know but I would like a detailed video about your flights to the Bahamas regarding customs and e-apis and how you handle both (paperwork, phone calls, etc...). Sounds boring to most nut I think it would be quite educational. I am interested in taking my Mooney out to the Bahamas and would like more info about the customs side of the flight (both in Florida and in the Bahamas). Thanks for great videos and the time you take to produce them.

If you ever fly up to Teterboro, KTEB NJ stop by at TSA (Teterboro School of Aeronautic) or Essex Co KCDW. Everyone loves that TBM and of course Reggie. Oh, yes....... We love you too!!! We are at Century Flight Academy. We are a Cessna, Cirrus, Beechcraft, Piper and TBM training center...I'm currently in flight and A&P training. In NJ. Best of luck with this UTube channel. To answer your transponder code question, it's has to do with automation between the centers.
Every time a plane enters a new center's airspace than that center's computer will generate a beacon code for it like it's a new airplane. Sometimes the controller can manually change the code if it's not being used somewhere else in the centers airspace.

hey Steve I sure wish they could have that GPS simulated on FSX. We have simulated ATC (VATSIM) I have learnt alot from you as it relates to some readbacks. example "in the box" I like that one
That there my friend is a Caribou. Till recently a workhorse with the Australian Airforce down here in OZ. Amazing short field performance. Might give the caravan a run for its money on STOL specs.

Did I miss you taking a fuel sample looking for water? I had to do that on the little Grumman Cheetah I trained in for my PPL (until I had to give it up).
Gray plane is a de Havilland DHC-4 or 5 depending on what engines it has.
I was thinking plane was a Caribou, then someone else also replied. We used them in Vietnam all the time. Very distinctive tail on them.
I have had a chance to view 2 of your many videos and I have enjoyed both of them. I happened upon one of your Bahama trips from January and enjoyed it. You asked if there was anything else we would like to see. If you have done this already then please let me know but I would like a detailed video about your flights to the Bahamas regarding customs and e-apis and how you handle both (paperwork, phone calls, etc...). Sounds boring to most nut I think it would be quite educational. I am interested in taking my Mooney out to the Bahamas and would like more info about the customs side of the flight (both in Florida and in the Bahamas). Thanks for great videos and the time you take to produce them.
