Hi Greg, what's your thoughts on charcoal grilled bread vs bread toasted using electric toasters? I have an obsession with the charcoal version as it's more old school but it's quite hard to in find in Singapore these days. Haha
Never heard of this dish before, it makes me draw a comparison to something akin to tea and cake, here in the uk. On another note, is the soy sauce like ketchup manis?
Diabetics and Pre-diabetics should avoid this Kaya Toast because it uses white breads that contain high Carbs (High glycemic index: 90 to 100; very high!) and sugar. It is not healthy at all! Just check your blood sugar one hour after your first bite. 😥
This looks far better than the present Ya Kun. Ya Kun's toast is a real disappointment now - the butter is thinly spread out - far different from what is seen in the photograph. I've spoken to the staff at Nex but apparently things haven't changed at all. Personally, I've chosen to give Ya Kun a permanent miss.
Kaya Toast Set is always controversial to me as in Singapore, anyone at home can easily replicate this dish and the taste will not be far off. It is so economical too so I can't help wondering why would anyone want to spend $5+ for it. In normal coffee shop, $3 charged for 1 set at least is reasonable.
Having had Ya Kun/ Toast Box frequently, this place truly blew both out of the park. Whoever did the R&D really deserves a pat on the back. The eggs…. Oh my gooodness. Pricey? Yes, it’s steeper but damm the overall quality is truly elevated. My 2 cents.
my friend is shocked by the appearance of the egg yolk. Looks "overcooked" and he did not eat it in the end. He is so used to normal 'yellow runny yolk' that he is still shocked by it's appearance today. Definitely he is not a fan.
The food in this place not fresh, I had the Hanese Fried chicken, the tomatoe is not fresh, alert the waitress & she doesn't understand english, she thought that I asked her not to clear the dishes. then she just walked away.
I am quite upset that I was filmed and shown in this TH-cam video, which is done without my consent! This is against privacy act! Anyone know how I can report?
In Singapore it's not illegal to film anyone in public without their consent,even if it end up online. It's only an offence to take videos or photographs of someone in a private place, such as in a bathroom or a changing room, or when they are engaged in a private act, such as showering, changing, using the toilet or breastfeeding. No one actually notice ppl in the background until you mention it here,though I'm curious which one is you. Also since you're actually able to track this video down n get upset about it,does it mean you know who he's and that he was filming a video for his channel at that time,if so why not move out of the frame or ask him nicely to blur out your face during editing.

Actually watching back the toast is not two separate slices, it looks sliced exactly like how Yakun do theirs, just that it’s very well toasted.
The point of supporting free-range chickens/eggs for most consumers is the ethical standpoint, rather than about nutritional value.

Looking at the portion sizes, to be honest, they should change their name to reflect it 小南洋。No pun intended, but its REALLY expensive.
