Yes it was definitely the wrong call. Should have kept him in the game.
Orze gets an out and we are not talking about this at all. Offense can't keep carrying the pitching forever. They can't score 9-10 runs every game. The bats are going to go cold eventually like they are now. We have to be able to hold leads and/or keep games close on a consistent basis. What worries me is that we probably can't fix this issue until the off-season and rebuild the bullpen again.
The problem is HE'S A ROOKIE FROM TRIPLE-A. You're asking him to get an out against their 2 and 3 hitters in Reynolds and Cruz. Bad move by the manager. Period.
@@PGO_Gaming can't really use the rookie excuse man, given that we have had 2 rookies pitch against both of those guys, one of them being they guy Orze came in for. It's not so much a rookie thing as it was a match up situation and Orze does really well against lefties. Houser doesn't. Match up made sense. Again, he gets an out, we're not even talking about this. Mans had Reynolds struck out, but the ump missed a close call and Tellez basically got a lucky hit. It's baseball and goofy stuff happens. His stuff wasn't the issue nor was really even bringing him in. Again, he gets an out, we're not saying anything about this. We're all here arguing fussing about a decision that wasn't even that all bad and not focusing on the fact that we have more late leads blown than any other team, and that we have blown the last 3 games straight where we led by 5 or more. Mets have yet to shut out a team. As bad as the team was last year, there were still outings where they were able to keep teams off the board. We barely have any relief pitchers that can avoid at least one walk in an outing. This one mildly questionable bullpen call is not the hill to die on when there are far more troubling things at stake that are actively tanking the entire season and keeping the team from consistently gaining ground.
How TF is Houser still on the team? Should've been DFA'd a long time ago.

Mendoza is easily one of the 3 worst managers in MLB. Only Boone and washington are worse. This was a perfect example.
CARLOS "PAMPERS" MENDOZA is running this team like a Day Care Center. The other day he didn't play VIENTOS brcause he needed a rest. What, a rest for a young player who only wants to play? If SCOTT was MENDOZA'S son, he wouldn't let him grow up to be a man!! CARLOS "PAMPERS" MENDOZA has turned around four victories into defeats and that doesn' t get you into post season. Dinally, I think this is a well orchestrated scheme by STEARNS and his analytics dept.
Of course it was the wrong call. The bullpen stinks. If a starter can't go 80 pitches, then skip his start and go to someone else. You definitely don't pull him in the 6th after 2 outs, WITH NO ONE ON, to go to a rookie pitcher going up against Reynolds and Cruz. Mendoza and Boone are the worst managers in baseball and they came out of the same dugout.
If that's how baseball is going to be runned, then MLB stinks.
