"Basketball is so much better now than it was." Oh yeah? How come the ratings are so low? In a age where technology to watch games are better than ever, where social media creates virality in a short amount of time? Please, someone explain this to me...
Because there was 8 channels back then. No internet content or video gaming... All anyone had to do was watch whatever was on the TV Box. Stop being so wilfully ignorant.
NBA ratings have declined 45 pct, while NFL games have virtually remained the same. In the 90s NBA games with MJ matched NFL games.lebron gets booed at super bowl and Cleveland wasn't in it. So why did lebron get booed?😮 Because he acts like a "Mitch"😂 You can figure out what that means
@hugoallendeys that literally doesn't make any sense. The internet is supposed to increase exposure, not the other way around. People back then actually went outside and did things instead of what we have now being glued to our phones and iPads. You actually had to make the effort and sit and watch the game. You can watch the NBA on 1 network back then, NBC, and then on TNT after MJs time. Now, they have an app, a streaming service, cable deals, and bootleg. Players are getting paid more money on average. Why are the ratings so low? Also, people today have multiple monitors running, I personally play video games while watching TV shows, so don't pretend like we only have time for one form of entertainment. That's a load of bull, like your low IQ comment suggests. People don't watch it today because everyone just shoots 3s. They got rid of the strategic balance between player archetypes, and now everyone is just doing hero ball, 3s, and some non physical, lateral defense. Wooo. So much fun...
The biggest reason would be because of coaching. Kerr is washed. The dude rotations are abslutley whack. Starting line-up should be consistent: PG: Curry SG: Antman SF: Lebron PF: Tatum C: Embiid Rotation off the bench: PG: Jrue Holiday SG: White SF: Booker PF: Bam C: Davis When KD comes back, swap out white for KD. Run the 1st team around Ant and Tatum who are the best and youngest. That'll likely get embiid going as well. Curry has more of a prime Kyle Korver role. Bron has more of a Magic/Bird dream team role. Off the bench, great chemistry fit. Booker has more green light to score. Great defense in backcourt and front court. While Booker lights it up offensivly off the 2nd unit, while bam and AD dominate the paint. Holiday and White run the offense, and spot up for cuts and 3 point shots. How am I out-smarting Steve Kerr? Cmon man.
Kobe ran through Pau's chest. Jordan pressed Puerto Rico's PG full court. 2024 Team went on run vs South Sudan when Lebron was on the BENCH, Carlik Jones should have been locked, not drop a triple-double.

The problem with 1992 and now is that the old eastern bloc teams that would challenge the us in all sports in the olympics have disbanded. I remember as I kid in 1988, I was 15 when the 88 olympics happen the US was tested by Yugoslavia and the old USSR. Those countries disbanded in 1991. So, the US should always dominate the medal count in the olympics. I don't buy the argument that the NBA is better today than in 92. A lot of players from those old eastern bloc countries were not allowed to leave their communists countries. They may have been good enough to play in the NBA back then but did not have the opportunity.
Uhhh🤔hhhh.....Let's be honest, the current NBA doesn't even resemble the NBA from 32 years ago. This game is waaay more like a long range/ 3 point competition than an old school bang, squabble, and pick n roll game

Completely true. If theres was any hype or prestige in the world cup of basket ball im sure the current US team would have realised earlier. Like NBA games now look dull, and low energy compared to the 80's, 90's, 00' and maybe even the 10's. I dont know what happened to the effort.
How can someone say that players are better now when literally no one plays defense in the NBA today? They can’t even switch properly, don’t communicate and can’t contest shots. It’s a farce.
It starts with MJ picking up the opposing team‘s point guard full court like a maniac. That‘s right after winning back to back titles and before going for that three peat.
92 dream team played really well but what must be said is that they wasn't at their best because they didn't need to, in 92 they played the matches like pick up games, coach Daly didn't take any time out during the tournament think about that, If Magic, MJ and the others had played at their best, it would have been absolute total destruction, already the score differences were incredible, the NBA back then was just unbeatable.
While it's true that the world's players are head and shoulders better than they were back then....The Dream Team had all-time greats and legends. MJ, Bird, Magic, Barkley, Mailman, Admiral, Pippin, Ewing. A combination of not just offense, but some of the best and smartest hard working defenders.

To be fair when the dream team took the court the first time it was like a pro team playing a high-school team, also half of the opponent were so star struck it had a serious effect on how they played. Basketball now is nowhere as one sided as it was then. The international game has improved leaps and bounds since '92. There are so many players that most NBA fans don't know about who are beast in international play. Also outside of North America most of the world plays the international game which is vastly different from NBA rules. Even European NBA players say how much easier the NBA is than international basketball. BUT i wouldn't say this team is better than the 92 team. People tend to focus on Jordan, bird and magic...but their front court was crazy deep as well with Barkley, Ewing, And Robinson and many were the physical big centers popular in international play. That's why USA went after Embiid this year. And i wont even go into the bench depth. To put it simply all but one player from that 92 team (Christian Lattner) is a hall of famer where only 1/2 at best and 1/4 at worst will be hall of famers.
These Klutch media purposely left it was nearly the entire Dream Team especially Magic not wanting Isiah because of his antics. Even Chuck Daly did not selected him.
It's funny seeing people making a big deal about Isiah being left off the Dream Team when they clearly didn't need him while Jaylen Brown (the literal reigning finals MVP) and Kyrie (who made the finals) are being left off the team even though the US can't take winning gold for granted.
@GermanicusCaesar117 because of how the team itself is constructed jaylen brown nor Kyrie Irving fit. If either one of them really feel a way about it they should complain to LeBron since he out here personally calling guys to join
@Tippotipo that's what I've saying for years, it makes no sense that Jordan, if we believe this story, would play for Chuck Daly and not make team USA pick his head coach who is coming off back to back championships
They keep on saying that the world has caught up. But that's the problem actually. Does that mean team USA has not moved the game forward, or either they have regressed? Because if they are still moving upward and at pace with the world, then they should still have been lightyears better than the rest of the world. Just my cents.

It's mindboggling that they believe the talent in Europe was better back then than now. I look at footage when i make comparisons, and the "2nd rate" teams like Lithuania would run 92 Croatia out the gym. I'm not disrespecting Drazen or Kukoc. @YahEL_Vegeta777 Pippen on KD Jordan on Curry. Those 2 are all-time defensive players. Not sure about that one. Plus 8 players in 92 in their prime. Not a old LeBron KD curry. 92 has too much depth of talent for 24.
Am from Jordan era, our times, for sure we are fans of Jordan. What I can say is, during those time, opponent are not as skilled compare to the current players. People will say last time they allow rougher plays, but it also allow you to be rough on rough on opponent. Current games, more players are skilled and so its not possible for current team to beat other team with an average of 30 to 40 points.
I hate the media. If you hate the media as well, it's probably not enough. I thought once Lebron retired and got swept into the dust bin this nonsense would be over. Noooo! They are going to continue to disrespect the great players from the past, to the point they are disrespecting the frekin DREAM TEAM. I mean, is there any low that they won't go to??? Absolute patheticness, all in the name of hype and clicks and agenda. Makes me sick as a true sports and competition fan.
Think about the fact that in 1992 the World only had a handful of players in the NBA. This South Sudan team not only has NBA talent, but they are also coached by Luol Deng a former pretty good NBA player that played against a few of USA players.
How is it that NBA basketball is so much better today than it was in the 90s but world basketball has caught up when it was such a huge gap just 30yrs ago. What has basketball been doing in America?
All this is nonsense. The 1992 Dream team was an ambassador for the Sport of Basketball. No other Olympic team was on their level. Today Basketball turned into a global sport. National leagues become much stronger. Michael never faced a Center like Jokic or a guard like Luka....so yeah please never compare the dream team with later teams.
International competition wasn’t bums at all back then. Quite the opposite. Up until 1992 the pros weren't allowed in the Olympics, only amateurs. In the World Cup, where the pros were allowed, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia kept winning, that's why the Dream Team was such a surprise to the whole world, especially because they beat everyone easily. The USA didn't have a strangle hold on Basketball, the Soviets and Yugoslavians were better. The US only kept winning the Olympics because of their collegiate system, the other countries' best players were already pros at that age, while the US college players would compete as amateurs, giving the US an unfair advantage in the Olympics and the Russians and Yugoslavia started winning there as well, while winning most of the World Cups(Pro Events) already. 1970 WC Yugoslavia 1972 OP Soviet Union 1974 WC Soviet Union 1976 OP USA 1978 WC Yugoslavia 1980 OP Yugoslavia 1982 WC Soviet Union 1984 OP USA 1986 WC USA 1988 OP Soviet Union 1990 WC Yugoslavia
This dude is going straight off of emotions and nostalgia, and I'm not even the type of guy who believes newer is better being old school. Objectively, playing by international rule, this team would defeat the Dream Team with no problem. Nearly all guys can stretch the floor. They are faster, stronger, quicker, more agile, etc. Dream Teams bigs were way too slow. Bird and Magic were ceremonial, especially Bird. Plus, it is a fact that international ball is light years better than back. If both teams switched places the scores would be even wider for this team, and the Dream Team would have a tougher time. It's called the evolution of the game. A mid level football team from this era would most likely defeat the Cowboys and 49ers of the 90s. Some of those guys on the Dream Team were my all time favorites, but let's be honest, breaking these teams down it wouldn't be a contest.
What you are saying is utter BS. Ewing, Robinson, Barkley and Malone would've been too much There's nobody to really guard MJ and Magic is a PG magician that would pick apart the defense. Bird and Mullin can shoot 3s. The Dream Team might not blow 2024 team USA out but Dream Team can definitely beat 2024 team USA.

Go watch Reggie Miller talk about Drazen, or Vernom Maxwell. You can find comments of Jordan of how much he respected him. You should already know Tony Kukoc from MJ's Bulls. 6 ft 11, agile who can shoot the three. Dino Rađja is a power forward with a similar game to Jokic. A multi european champion and a Celtic for 3-4 years. These three hall of famers are mentioned in the video but Lithuania was another powerhouse in the 92 Olympics with Arvydas Sabonis (if you know his son in Sacramento, Arvydas played in Portland when he was old and is considered the greatest european center of all time and another hall of famer) and Sarunas Marciulionis, a hall of famer small forward and great all around player and scorer. The european talent pool was Greater back then than it is now. The only difference is the NBA was not open minded about foreign players, they were mostly discriminated. The "modern" basketball with three point shooting is the yogoslavian basketball school from the 80ies. They were the first to emphasize on shooting. That's why Drazen was shooting 44% on threes back then. The reason the original dream team was assembled IS because the US lost in previous tournaments to other national teams.

Heh, every game was a home game for the Dream Team!
😂 the dream teams opponents were asking for autographs pre game. The collection of that team would be like Michael Jackson, Elvis, and the Beatles coming together for a concert in the same night.

Not all, but a good portion of NBA players today don’t play defense and are soft, both physically and mentally. “The world has caught up to American basketball!” No knuckleheads, y’all put the car on cruise control at 55 while the rest of the world is running 70!
That‘s right after winning back to back titles and before going for that three peat.
the only thing this version has over the dream team is overall athleticism. thats it. talent no and it's not even close
This team has infinitely better shooters and floor spacers
Dude, team USA is playing against much better players and teams now than they were back then. 😑

People in this comment section are a bunch of haters and hypocrites. We all know the world has caught up tremendously when it comes to basketball, Jordan's dream team didn't face the level of opposition we have now. Let's stop the crap
I like how MJ gets blamed for leaving Isiah off the dream team but they don't want to address LeBron actually picked almost everyone on this team
That was Klutch media propaganda too. I remember Booker, Curry, and Davis declaring their spots back in 2023 long before the little social media stunt
They keep on saying that the world has caught up. But that's the problem actually. Does that mean team USA has not moved the game forward, or either they have regressed? Because if they are still moving upward and at pace with the world, then they should still have been lightyears better than the rest of the world. Just my cents.
USA has regressed, no defense, can’t even box out. But they can shoot 3s, or maybe they can’t even do that considering they were awful from 3 as well

I look at footage when i make comparisons, and the "2nd rate" teams like Lithuania would run 92 Croatia out the gym. I'm not disrespecting Drazen or Kukoc. 2009 LeBron was supposed to meet Kobe in the Finals, Won 60 games in a very weak Eastern Conference, got bounced by Orlando 4-2.
Kobe Gentleman Swept the same Orlando team 4-1 in 2009 Finals.
2010 LeBron was supposed to meet Kobe in the Finals AGAIN, Nike even ran puppet commercials foreshadowing it. What happned? He got bounced 4-2 by Boston. The same Boston team Kobe beat 4-3 after coming back down 3-2.
Wade, by his own admission, was so fearful of Kobe's dominance (3 straight finals in the toughest western conference in NBA history, while winning back to back rings without another top 75 player, the only player in NBA history to ever do that), that he called Lebron to team up in Miami to stop Kobe.

International competition wasn’t bums at all back then. Quite the opposite. Up until 1992 the pros weren't allowed in the Olympics, only amateurs.
