I am a parent. My son has recently started having disciplinary issues. I appreciate you saying to realize that you are dealing with a person. Thanks for this video.
I have a second round interview tomorrow, and I'm so glad I watched this video. The lightbulb has clicked for some of the toughest questions from round one.
Hi, it Nuzhat from Pakistan. I am a middle and high school coordinator in a small school in Pakistan. I have started watching your videos recently and I am glad to tell you that I found you as one of the best mentors. 👍

Thank you for all of the great tips associated with being a school leader, and an AP in particular. I took the SLLA 6990 on August 19th last year and passed thanks in large part to your book and TH-cam videos. I had not planned on looking for an AP position until the 2025-2026 school year but I just found out on Thursday that my principal is not returning this year. As a result, my school is now looking for an AP since the current AP moved up to the principal role. Sent my resume and now I'm scrambling to prepare for an interview hopefully sometime this week; I really don't know at the moment. I'm also moving from a 6th grade room to a 5th grade room, so everything is all kind of up in the air right now. Watching your videos has helped me narrow down what I can do to be prepared for the interview. It is all a bit nerve wracking still because parents and students come on Friday for Meet the Teacher and school starts on the 8th of August. Off to watch more of your videos! 😊

My pleasure. All of these experiences just make us better at what we do. Hopefully the school year ends with some stability and you can look forward to less turbulent times. Thanks for watching.
After seeing your latest vid I had to go back and check this one out since it's about discipline and managing behavioral issues and my first thought was: Whoa, 32 is a baby for managing discipline like that and you obviously took it on. You give me some key ideas to consider as a teacher to try to determine how to implement them in a practical manner while fully considering the high workload the teacher already has which makes it very difficult to add more to it.
Thank you for watching our videos and engaging with the content! We're glad you found value in the discussion about discipline and managing behavioral issues in the classroom. As a teacher, it can indeed be challenging to balance the workload while implementing new strategies effectively. But with time and experience, you'll find a balance that works well for you and your students. ~Yiana Team Member at Kathleen Jasper LLC
We use PBIS. I am a elementary principal! I love my job and really just stand up for students especially whose teachers are giving them detentions for 0 reason.
We use a thing called a think time reflection. My rule is 3 times, think time. Some crazy situations! Some teachers send them out for no reason woth no where to go. I just tell them to come to me and then I talk to the teachers. People think principals are bad. But the truth is they are great!
My mind tells me to become an assistant principal (because of the pay) but my heart says to be a counselor. Im so undecided. Do APs really live under high levels of stress all the time?
Great question. Being an assistant principal is very demanding. It was way more demanding than when I was a teacher. It’s extra hours, lots of stress and more work. But I loved it until I didn’t.
I am grateful that you took the time to share these interpersonal strategies for an administrator to try to implement. However, I wish you would’ve left the drug dealing business out of your video. It does not add any valuable context, especially since you prefaced it by saying you didn’t know. As administrators, we need to keep a open positive mind about all of our students and not cast stereotypes onto them. Thank you again for taking the time to create this. Great video. Pardon any grammatical areas of my comment, I am using voice to text as I listen to your video on the highway.
