Thanks Will for these best posture alignment exercises. There are many videos on the internet which don’t explain these exercises properly. Glad to follow your channel. You always explain everything so clearly that it becomes really easy to do the exercises demonstrated by you. Stay blessed❤
I think it's so important to receive proper explanations so that everyone can make informed decisions regarding the movements and advice that is most applicable for them!
You're an excellent teacher! As a retired OT, showing how to do the exercise and the simple explanation gives people the sense of, "I can that!" Thank you for all your help!
What also helps that first tilting exercise is to imagine the pelvis as a big bowl filled with water and to tilt it forward (anteriorly) means to spill out a bit from the front and to tilt it backwards (posteriorly) means to spill out a bit from the back! These are so good and could easily be marketed for younger people as "anti-aging"! Thanks a million :))
Young people have the feeling that aging is something which happens to other people but not to themselves. When I was young in my teens I felt I would be young until the end when I die calmly and painlessly at the advanced age of 50 or a little bit more.
Re the first exercise - if you do have lower-back issues, the postural tilt can also be performed lying on your back - as they do in Pilates. The benefits of this option, is that by lying on your back, no load is going through the lower-back.
0:10❤I love how you teach those exercises Will. They are so easy to follow and I find they work for me like a dream. Thank you so so much for the time & effort you put into those videos. I am learning so much and my body is loving those movements and feels amazing when I use them. You are a gifted teacher and hope you realize that.🌷👍Thank you so much again🙋♀️.🌻
Thanks Will. These exercises are superb and your explanations and demonstrations are perfect. They complement and add to what I've learned from my physical therapist and personal trainer. Three years ago I underwent Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion for cervical disc degeneration. The surgery was most successful relieving my cervical radiculopathy, but post-op and ongoing neck and back exercises have improved my posture and range of motion incredibly. I can now turn around to back out safely from parking spaces.
This exercise is the mist useful for me because I have bad posture- khyphosis. Thank you so much. I appreciate your focus on the geriatric population. I am 66 years old.
Thank you Will once again. I lost 6cm in height after 4 operations in two years and having to use elbow crutches for over three years. I’m on the road to recovery and your videos are FANTASTIC 🤗 I subscribe to your channel and will be ordering you book. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Have real bad lower back to toes pain and we are getting ready mentally for a hike up a mountain. Been going to the gym, doing yoga and walking everyday but getting worried about the pain in the foot started looking at videos on TH-cam. Just came across your videos today. This video is simply amazing and your explanation is very clear. Thank you so much for putting these up.
Thank you so much for the exercises. I find these so wonderful and find I even breathe better when I do them. You sure are a good teacher. I am so glad I found your videos. One of my new years resolutiions is to watch and do one of your videos each day, They are great, 🙂
I have been struggling with back aches since I lost 10% of my body weight in Autumn 2023. It has been very debilitating and upsetting. Have tried massage and physio which helped the flexibility of the upper vertebrae but the crippling pain in my mid-back area has persisted. In the last couple of days I started to try your "chest opener stretch". This is so easy to do even when out and about. Today I felt your exercise has almost banished the pain and I plan to continue to be sure of a permanent resolution. Thanks so much
I'm sorry to hear about the back ache you've been experiencing and the pain this has caused you to endure. It's brilliant to hear you found my suggested stretch so helpful though! I hope it continues to offer the relief you need - I'm sending best wishes your way :)
Good evening, Dr. WILL HARLOW. First of all, thanks for astonishing work. I am gynecologist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I have lots of old patients with mutiple problems that you show here. I work at city public hospital and Many of them are poor and cannot have Access to physio. I would like to them some information, diagnosis and exercises of the causes to improve their quality of life. Does your book provide info what you show here (I will have to order it Internationally)? Thank you very much.
Thank you so much, Will your videos have helped my spinal stenosis and made me realise the importance of stretching. I have just purchased your book from Amazon .🙂
Brilliant Will. I really only knew and practised the all fours cat cow. As an office worker and some lower back issues these other seated exercise are going to come in really handy at work. Thanks so much!
Thanks for all the exercises. I’m 63 and are spending much time infront of the computer screen, during my work. One question, or rather a thought: in my 20ies I was training and competing in judo. During training we often did the bird dog. We often did a variant. When we flexed the back upwards we touched the lifted arm’s elbow to the lifted kne, meeting under the belly (hope this description makes sense) and then lifting the arm and leg again, never puting the knee or hand down. We did a series of these flexions before we changed arm and leg. Love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons on this, if any.
Thank you Will, it cannot be overstated, as a teen I'd walk with a book 📖 (closed of course/ha ha) on my head to practice posture and it is so extra tireing to walk crocked, reach for anything as such too!
Thanks for these. I suffer from lower back pain due to osteoarthritis and narrowing of my lower spine and scoliosis. I also have a large parastomal hernia following an emergency colostomy two years ago which doesn't help my back problems despite wearing a support. I already do gentle daily exercises for my hips and knees as far as I am able and try to take a short walk but these don't help much. I will try adding your back exercises too.
query bird dog with arm & leg...clarify please....the spine not in a table top position? It appears in video that shoulders are slightly higher. thank you Will
Thanks Will. Very nice exercises! To remember which is which (cat/cow) think of a cat that is frightened and his back is arched and hair standing on end. With the cow, think of the gigantic very bony pelvis sticking up with its tail on top. lol.
You mentioned lordosis and kyposis. Are there any exercises to reduce scoliosis, probably the result of carrying a heavy messanger bag on just one side of my body for years during commutes to and from work.
I believe he has some video on this. And also Spine Care and Decompression channel has. I'm not a doctor, but according to my doctor, adults cannot be cured. If that's the case, we're talking about reducing pain and maintaining function.
I have a pelvic rotation. I have trouble getting the pelvis to work together. One ischial tuberosity wants to go one way and the other ischial tuberosity wants to go the other way I have to really concentrate with the finger tips on the ASIS
Thank you for your great exercises. I'm not 100% sure but I think the cow is the saggy back and cats when they're scared arch their backs, so the arched back would be the cat. Just saying. :) Also what do you think of feldenkrais movements?
What is best exercise to correct one hip being markedly higher than the other? (Due to severe spasticity pulling one hip down so that one hip is much higher than the other)
I think he has some already. I don't remember the video title. Best is a relative term, and your case could be different. Anyway you could check his channel. I wouldn't mind seeing more though. Good suggestion.
I have tried this exercise, how do you know that you are not putting your head to far back on the wall because it is a very short distance going down towards the chest.

@@bstaykova2003 I think at all ages we tend to feel that about more advanced age lol.! *50* ? I'm well-past that and better than ever!
Great channel. The “cow” is actually the down movement and the “cat” is up.
Yep, that part, I think he has it backwards.
Re the first exercise - if you do have lower-back issues, the postural tilt can also be performed lying on your back - as they do in Pilates. The benefits of this option, is that by lying on your back, no load is going through the lower-back.
Yes , after SIJ fusion my Nuffield physio had me do it on my back too.

Very helpful 👌 thank you Will. Happy weekend ❤❤❤
Happy weekend to you also!
Thank you, Mr. Will, thank you.
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot.
I love ❤️ your description of each exercise and explain it in layman’s terms.
I.e., using Tummy instead of abdominal muscles.
Hi Will! you have helped me so much lost months! Can you make a video specifically for multifidius excercises??
Brilliant Will. I really only knew and practised the all fours cat cow. As an office worker and some lower back issues these other seated exercise are going to come in really handy at work. Thanks so much!
I'm pleased my video can offer some practical help for you - that's great to hear!
So enjoyed this, exactly what I needed to know about posture and I'm looking forward to trying out the exercises in the morning!
So pleased my video came at the right time - wishing you all the best :)
As always Will, an excellent video. We should all be doing these exercises, if we are able. Begin them, slowly, if we can't.❤
Thanks 👍
No problem!
Very helpful set of posture exercises which link nicely with my Pilates class.
Glad they can compliment your current routine!
5:45 wow
I am following you in Minneapolis, Minnesota and am appreciative of all you do.
Also, your book is very interesting and helpful

Absolutely - they can be beneficial for all!
Thanks, Will. You perhaps don't get a lot of feedback, but hopefully enough, for you to keep us moving. Tony Garde. Pennington, South Africa.

Your exercises are fantastic !I am 67 🙏
Glad you like them!
I need the exercises for over 65 climbing made easy. I saw it in the TV.
Well great first part of lovely 12% onto 1% of olders worth looking at! (Ouch ah the French, bon weekend from French Canada 🇨🇦, yes we're a thing!)
Fantastic channel. The rounded back is the cat. Like as in angry black Halloween cat
Instead of book, video cassette would be more helpful I guess. You demonstrate so well, no book can take its place.
query bird dog with arm & leg...clarify please....the spine not in a table top position? It appears in video that shoulders are slightly higher. thank you Will
😊 For the chin tuck, does it matter how far our feet are from the wall?
I believe the cat/cow is the other way around but feels good whatever it's called!
Tailbone pains a lot, kindly post a video on it , regards
Hi Will - please suggest me workouts in gym as i am 64 years old and have cervical spondylitis since two decades. Thank you
Thanks Will. Very nice exercises! To remember which is which (cat/cow) think of a cat that is frightened and his back is arched and hair standing on end. With the cow, think of the gigantic very bony pelvis sticking up with its tail on top. lol.

Hello Will.i wanted to enquire if one can do cat cow if he has a knee replacement surgery done
Will it also work for scholiosis
Is the posterior tilt of the cat-cow on all fours safe for osteoporosis?
I have lumbar disc bulge and stenosis. Can I do these excersice?
Why is the book Thriving Beyond 50 not available in India?
being on all fours causes me knee pain can I use a cushion.

❤
The 1st exercise I can do no problem, but I can hear popping in lower back with each movement?
❤
Cat = arched back cow = slouched back Just look at a photo of a cow to fix it in your mind
I will say that the cat cow in any position ahould be approached with caution if you have deteriorated facet joints like me.
I found that this hurts my upper back, between the shoulders
Cat - Camel 😊
