This is perfect timing. My husband had a surgery where standing up straight was painful while healing. Its been a year and now hunching over is a habit, he can stand up straight, but needs help to remember/readjust his preferred posture. I think this will help his 70 yr old bod adjust, and it certainly won't hurt me to do it with him. I find myself looking at the ground a lot as I walk, and that little lump under my neck on my back is starting to get more defined. Great way to attack that now. Thanks so much. Mike, just ignore the trolls about your voice. You have improved your speech so much since you started that it is now understandable and a joy to listen to. They can lower their volumn if they think you are loud. I am very pleased that I can hear and understand you now. You notice no one said they couldn't understand you. You are doing great! Hi to Bob, glad to know you are still there. Brad is perfect as always, :-)
My back got really rounded after spinal surgery too, even though I wasn't having to hunch because of pain, etc. Even now, if I stand up straight, I feel like I'm poking my boobs out like a, well, you get my drift! 😆 My physio gave me some of the same routines mentioned in the video, but I need to be more dedicated to sticking to them.
I thank YOU🫵 and BRAD🫵 for this exercise on posture ! My GREAT GRANDMOTHER was “bent” over in this posture ! I am beginning to follow her “bent”posture” ! I thought I “inherited “ her “bent posture “ I am going to do these exercises religiously ! I am well into my 80s ,but that’s no excuse! Thank you ,Thank you both 👍 🙀👵🏻😻 🥰😍
The hard part is maintaining throughout the day. I can stand and walk upright with good posture as long as I am thinking about it, but when I am walking around thinking about other things I find myself slumping again unconsciously.
Muscles form memory. Old positions are more comfortable, because you're used to them. Stay conscious and keep working at forming new muscle memory. Good luck! :~)
I found you guys a couple of years ago and really tuned in to work out on my back issues. I know that you are so right because I was a massage therapist for 9 years. I was so strong then and so good at what I did for my clients. Now I am in my 70's and I am a mess. And it is no accident that I found you again. I am on a mission to set up an area to be able to once again follow you. I am older but I know this all works if it is done on a regular basis. The Posture Pad will be a future purchase I believe. Meanwhile, I am reorganizing my rooms to accommodate what I need to do to get back in shape. Thank you!
I gotta say, I love your channel @BobandBrad and Mike! Your exercises have taken away my shoulder pain recently.. now working on my lower back pain and posture .. I am so grateful for your clear, concise instructions 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊
Your suggestion to focus one's gaze 15 feet ahead really works! Even on a snowy day. All the pavement is easily visible within that 15 feet. Many thanks. Kay
I want to thank you both for these videos. I’ve had multiple back surgeries, with rods and screws and do have that bent over posture. I’m sure going to try these and hope they help. I can’t tell you how uncomfortable and embarrassing it is to be all hunched over! I’d be eternally grateful if these help get me upright!!
Man, you guys make it seem so possible. I have been trying for a year and a half to stand straight against wall with my head touching. Still can’t even with all the stretching and exercises. I am already doing these stretches, although not nearly as often. I’ve been once every day or so. Perhaps the repetitiveness is the key. We shall see. Thank you as always.
Stretch every morning before getting out of bed & after your morning routine, then in the afternoon before lunch or nap or whatever it is that you do. Then again before bed. What I do is stretch every time I think about food, & make sure that I’m able to touch my toes.
You may have a kyphosis, as I do. I tried a program of forcibly straightening my upper spine with the assistance of hand weights, and this resulted in a temporary sharp pain in the centre of my upper back. It seems to me that I can work on my posture by ensuring that my hip flexors are allowing me to be fully upright from the hips, but I am stuck with my upper spine, which becomes slightly worse year by year. My mother and my sister are the same. It's still important to be able to stand as erect as possible, for the sake of our necks and our breathing, but there may be limits.
Thanks for this. Healthy posture is so important. It’s worth the effort. Many moons ago, my dad had three fractures in his neck (fell off a ladder), and at age 91 now has terrible kyphosis. He is no longer walking, and even seated the forward head posture affects his breathing and ability to swallow. A heavy cross. p.s. “Hi, Bob!” 😉
Thank you, I am 80 and just spent four months in the hospital with a bad heart valve, lost most of my energy and endurance, weak as a kitten also. I feel like the hunch back, going to put what you showed to work.
Thank you for great simple effective moves for our bodies. It is wonderful to do these lying on the bed or floor, sitting in a chair and stretching without going into huff and puff exertions! Thank you. Thank you.
Bundle of thanks for this video. Pretty thankful to both of you. I am 59 now, and when I was probably 12, unknowingly, I was getting the hunched over posture. So my bad posture is 47 years old. Today, I tried the one exercise, taking a cane with both hands from front to back. I am sure sir, I will get rid of my hunched over posture within a few days.Thank you again. May both of you live long ! Remembering you in my prayers.
This channel is very important for me. It is very helpful. I have neck, back problems. And I have learnt important exercises. I haven’t known that Bob passed away. I am sorry.
These exercises are very helpful. Like one other viewer mentioned, I can practice these and when I’m mindful, my posture improves. As time goes on, though, I revert to hunching. Doing strength and weight exercises to develop my back and shoulder muscles really helped me to maintain better posture throughout the day more consistently.
Bob and Brad you guys are amazing. Appreciate you two for all you do on your videos. You have really helped so many , especially myself. God bless you.
I have had lifelong horrible posture. Multiple back surgeries haven’t helped. Now at 65 I’m like uh no I can’t walk all hunched over. I’m downloading this clip and really doing this
Excellent and simple tips! If my old mother had known about these simple exercises, she would have saved herselt a lot of stress when she went into her eighties.
Thank you! Isn’t that the way we all begin in some way or other. I am so grateful for this particular video. I have a significant forward head carry and, at my new gym, one of the trainers seems intent to being sure I don’t forget it. So I am finally doubling down on dealing with it. Thus, this is timely for me. Over time you have helped me, and continue to help, with innumerable other challenges. And it’s not just me-family, friends, even the occasional stranger. Best to Bob ❤. And Mike, you seem increasingly comfortable in your new role and that is so good to see! Thank you for stepping up. And Brad (don’t want you to feel left out), you are wonderful. Plain and simple. Thank you so much!
Hi Brad, I missed your videos a few months and I don't see Bob although Inknew he wasn't feeling well How is he doing ? I miss him on the shows. Please send him our best wishes from the communtiy. Welcome Mike!
You and Bob got me back on my feet after falling down and I was hurt bad too I thought my life was ruined thought I'd never even be able to dress myself again. You should see me now and I'm not done yet
I appreciate you addressing this issue so I can help my mom. I'm surprised no one has commented about the in-bed exercise of lifting the arms over the head. I'd say 100% of people have a headboard or a wall that would prevent doing that move in Week 1. Suggestions? Just bend the arms over the top of the head?
An MRI scan I had some years ago showed that my upper back was permanently humped because for whatever reason (inborn or developed, I don't know), the vertebrae were conical rather than cylindrical. This seems to be impossible to remedy (though at 77 and a half, I don't suffer any pain or discomfort). I wonder how many others have the same condition.
Dear Sirs, all great advices, which are helping me at 60yo and fit to stay flexible and fit. You could put the exclaimer "if pain: stop" in the channel and / or video-exclaimer
I would really like a book of exercises from Bob & Brad or a DVD so I wouldn't have to search the internet for you! Your programs on TH-cam are very useful and terrific but I still would like to have a book on exercises (the old fashioned way).
RE: Back/Shoulders against the wall. 5 repetitions/5 times a day, but how long should a person remain in that position before resting and moving on to the next repetition? Other stretches mention the length of time to perform. How long per time against the wall. Thanks!
Good ideas! I don't recommend an arbitrary number, "do X exercises and increase the number" because not everyone can do that many! The strong find it difficult to even imagine what it is like to be weak. I ask people, "have you ever had the flu?" That is a good example of what "weak" is. I try to do an exercise "until my muscles get tired" and then stop. It's easier for me to keep the exercise in my daily repertoire that way. Thanks for these useful exercises!
Thank you sooooooo much for those EXERCICES.! I am 89 years.( young?!) and walking regularly and remind my self of good posture but spend time at my computer I kind of bend my neck to much! I enjoy very much to watch your shows. You are great ,guys! 👍🫶🇭🇷🇨🇦

It would be great to get an insight into what can be done to address the issues caused by decades of bad cycling posture😀.
I'm slouched over a desk all day long, so this is perfect timing to help Improve my posture. Welcome to the channel Mike!
So many people now use flex desks. ( I just made up that word.) So they can stand and type.
