    Just echoing other comments. I work in cultural heritage and we are exploring use of mobile nmr in gathering data for machine learning. This was very helpful to myself and staff and by far the easiest way to gain insight into the workings and methodology of nmr

    If we imagine 2 magnets *S-N--S-N* aligned . Twisting by hand takes *X1* effort.
    If there is a sheet of paper between *S-N-|-S-N* twisting takes less energy.
    For a same angle of rotation *X2 < X1*. The thickness of the piece of paper correlates with the shielding effect
    There are a few other conventions, and ideas:
    - Z is aligned with the applied B.
    - And the total spin partially aligns to B.
    - We want to move it from the Z axis to the *XY* plane (90).
    - This will depend how coupled in Z it is.
    - The more shielded the closer to *0* in standard plots.
