Cosmetics should be unlockable through gameplay. Period. That's how it started and that needs to continue. No microtransactions in singleplayer/co-op games. PERIOD.
I don't know how many of you guys actually played it. But you can unlock everything with in game currency. I unlocked nearly everything within 20 hours or so. That included skins, helmets, and weapon upgrades. The only thing you can't unlock are 2 knife and 2 hatchet skins.
@@krugec23 Since skyrim? Have you played morrowind and oblivion, fallout 3 or other games? All of them were bug-infested shitfests with the community to fix it for them. With skyrim they just removed more and more content and "updated" the game so that mods ceased working everytime. Skyrim is the most watered down ES game and after fallout 4 it really did not surprise me that f76 was the consequence.
@@jinxhead4182 To be fair, they were actually doing something ambitious with Fallout 3 and Morrowind. Not many companies were doing what they were doing back then. The problem is they haven't improved much since then. On top of that, they've been getting lazier, and greedier. Releasing products that are as buggy as past games, while not providing as good of content, and charging more money for it too.

As soon as I saw the trailer months ago it was instantly not sold to me, it turned me off even considering buying the game at all. I absolutely loved Wolfenstein 1 and 2 but the trailer for this game fuck me.. I nearly died from the cringe.
Todd Howard had nothing to do with this game. Like at all. He’s the executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios but this game was made by completely different studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Todd Howard isn’t in charge of any of those studios or companies. If you want to be mad, be mad at the VPs of BethSoft or the developers of this game. Not trying to defend Howard, he’s certainly not great either but he has nothing to do with this.
This video sums up exactly why Bethesda doesn’t deserve a single penny. The very first patch introduced disabled a cheat engine for their single-player game. No bug fixes No extra gameplay No new encounters Bethesda cares only about making the player spend coin to progress and does not care about players having fun or having any semblance of control.
How long do you think it would take to hotfix and deploy a pause feature in a single-player game for a 2019 game built on a fully-fledged modern engine? Probably less time than to add an anti-cheat feature for a 0day hack, yea?

Right now I feel that even if they somehow restrain themselves, the game will still suffer the consequences. When games and studios are spending so much time and money on the design of "engagement mechanics" I can't see them just dropping that mentality and making an amazing Elder Scrolls VI. So it's not "I buy TESVI if they don't do this". It's "I won't buy TESVI unless they do this". TESVI needs to win me over.
I remember when stuff had to be earned. I remember hunting down balloons, being shot at by sharks and doing all the side missions to get a nice suit that i really wanted. Why can't they do that anymore?
With me for some reason one time I did have a glitch when trying to purchase coins to buy a skin, I loaded it for like 5 minutes and nothing happened so I had to close the game fully and a few weeks later it still has the same glitch for me, I don't know about other people but I thought that was funny

No point in listening to "professional game reviewers". They want to stay in good terms with publishers so even if the game is an absolute dumbster fire like this, they won't go under a 7. User reviews are a bit more indicative although numbered rating for user reviews never works, everyone just puts 0 or 10, Yes/No like system that Steam has works much better for user reviews
It is becoming harder and harder to look forward to a new doom or elder scrolls game. Sell the rights to some of the real game companies before you screw it up.
At this point there's no way I can look forward to DOOM Eternal, Starfield, or TES6. Fallout 4 was the final straw for me with how many issues it has. It is easily the most broken and poorly designed game they've released up till then. Even with as broken and unfinished as New Vegas was when it was rushed. Then they force microtransactions into these games, including Skyrim, about 10 years after it released... Then you have Fallout 76 which is literally everything wrong with Fallout 4, cranked up to 11, and put on drugs. Now you've got Rage 2 and Wolfenstein becoming dull, mediocre at best, with clear focus on monetization over designing enjoyable games, etc. etc. Why would I look forward to anything else Bugthesda releases? Even if they release without any of these issues listed above, I can't trust them not to just add these issues in at a later date.
@@lpsoldin3162 Fortunately DOOM Eternal is being developed entirely by id Software, aka the original company behind the OG games. Bethesda has no hand in creating it, they purely publish it. And so far pretty much everything I've seen on that front has been positive for me so I'm still very excited for that title at least. Go and listen to the id guys talk and play their own game demo, it's pure awesomeness.

Oblivion had one laughable dlc. New skyrim has creation club which breaks mods and benefits nobody. This proves that they still haven't learned anything.

Stop saying Ubisoft. They're way better than these shits. Their games are good or decent and they do not shove down MTX's down your throat. When ac unity was full of bugs, they actually fixed them unlike Bethesda and even gave the dlc for free. A few weeks ago, they gave away ac unity, completely free. Even the story creator mode in ac Odyssey was free. Would the others bad ones do something like that? No, they wouldn't. Just because Ubisoft is another big AAA developer doesn't mean that they're as bad as EA.

About the cheats: bloodborne had a feature called the chalice dungeons, people found a way to break them and you can spawn high level dungeons and pretty much get end game weapons as early as the second boss, from soft knew about this and yet they never patched it, they let people enjoy their game.
That's cause endgame weapons in a fromsoft game aren't necessarily any better than starting weapons. I used the hunters are for the entire first playthrough and never switched from it.
@Ultmateluigiman you can actually, you can farm levels in these Dungeons I did it last week, get to level 120 in new game after a couple of hours, there are a couple of enemies that drop 20k souls and are easy to cheese (they drop end game gems too)

I heard that the Buddy pass thing doesn't work. When you try to access the game through the demo it brings you to a screen where you can buy the game. Arch warhammer mentioned it in his review. Do you know if anyone managed to play through the demo only? I'd like to know.
The writing was on the wall the moment they tried Paid Mods with Skyrim. People want us to believe that the slippery slope is just a logical fallacy, but it's very real, and this is a case in point.
Oh, and the DRM is STILL on Doom Classic despite promises to remove it (and there is no reason why this shouldn't be a Thanos snap away from being fixed given how old the game is). I mean seriously; if you had told me back when Fallout 3 was a thing what would happen to this company i would have laughed. Now I would genuinely call them third only to EA and Activision.
If they grow, the original team will sooner or lager be replaced by „growing“ and larger corps have another field of view, it NEEDS to be mich broader in order to cope with little fails within organization. It will happen, eventually, if they keep growing.
shawn There is plenty of reason. Every development company or publisher that gets high praise for years gets cocky and goes down a dark path. Bethesda, BioWare, EA, Blizzard (kinda), RockStar. It doesn’t mean it will 100% happen but it would be foolish to belittle the high chance of it happening eventually.
In other news, Piranha Games is another developer to fall under Epics shadow. Mechwarrior 5 is now an Epic Exclusive, and people didnt know up until a week ago. So for a few months people who were preordering the game on the promise of steam release. (The agreemant was made back in late april and wasnt announced until last week) They lied to their customers in another bait and switch tactic. (Hmm Epic seems to have a track record for this)
I've said this before on another video, and I'll say it again more succinctly: The industry has changed. It's no longer about innovation, quality, or having fun. It's about control. Control of the customer. And those who control the customer, control the industry.
And it's so sad that this is the case. This is one of the reasons why I now stick to games from 1-3 console generations ago. Everything sucks now. Why take interest in current gen games when so many of them are monetized?

In fact, I've met far worse microtransactions in indie MMORPGs than in AAA MMOs. And do I have to remind you of the Early Access plague? Devs literally ask you to pay for an unfinished game, without the slightest warranty that it will pay off. What about Star Citizen and its 27000$ cheat code? Sorry, but there is no "indie market" and "AAA market". It is the exact same thing: the gaming market. And it's that very market that went crazy about control, as the OP said.

I’m no longer excited for starfield, elder scrolls 6 and doom eternal. Bethesda, you used to be my favourite game publisher, you made some of my favourite games of all time. You really cut the fans deep on this one. (Metaphorically speaking)
Doom looks promising, but I'll keep an eye on the integrated multiplayer they showed near the end of the 26 min showcase. However, I will definitely keep an eye out for reviews as doom 2016 was my favorite game of THIS year
It feels like it isn't going to be fixed until there are gov't restrictions and regulations by the way it is looking. Almost all the AAA game creators are doing get rich quick launches and flops and bleed everything they can dry.

Only reason I even bought Skyrim was because the mods made the game worthwhile when the vanilla game was shit. Since they introduced Creation Club, I've been saying the nexxt Elder Scrolls game will have 0% of what makes an ES game good and modding will be limited to CC content only. I want to say that it feels good to be proven correct months before the game is released, but it really doesn't it. Still, Morrowind, Oblivion and modded Skyrim are there to keep me busy, and still have full mod support.

I so love the idea that a game developer tells me how I should enjoy my single player game that I reward them by not buying the game. That way I don’t find ways to cheat and they can sleep at night knowing I’m not abusing their creation. It’s all a win-win situation.
I reward crappy launches by not pre-ordering, that way the devs can take their time to actually finish the product. And as a no-pre-order reward, I often get to only pay 50÷ or less! It's not a sale, it's no-pre-order reward!

I miss that. After seeing how terrible halo 4 and halo 5 armour unlock was, I just don't think I'll be getting halo 6. Halo reach was the absolute best, huge arraignment of armour unlocks, and forge world.

@@NADster36 I think that was them getting shafted by publishers since they were posting steam achievement updates the hour before it was announced. But this isn't to say they can't get shafted again. Never pre - order or buy on release anymore. Always do your research before buying a game.
I feel like that statement is pretty ignorant and sad. It's almost as if you haven't seen the enormous amount of lore that their series, The Elder Scrolls, has nor do you fully comprehend why their game engine is as is. @@NADster36 First of all, that's not Obsidian's fault.. That decision is made by Publisher, so blame them if you must. Second, cry, whine, rage or pout, a lot of games are gonna be Epic Exclusive unless Steam decreases the cut it demands. For any Dev/publisher who is using Unreal Engine as the base for their game, publishing on Epic store in general makes more sense with their flat 12% cut as opposed to 30% (For Steam)+5% (For Unreal Engine) if they went to steam. Exclusivity deal by Epic frees them from most of financial risks.

First Activision killed Crash, because they were so greedy, that they didn't realize how much money they could earn with him, and did nothing with the character for years, thinking cute mascots don't sell games. Now that they know better because Crash games sold like hotcakes, they will likely proceed to squeeze him dry and kill him again.

It is a demonstrable lie that the login to bethesda net was supposed to be optional in the classic doom re-releases. You can put in a bogus email the first time you try and it will let you in to play the game. But then I put my switch to sleep. I came back the next day, at work, without an internet connection. It wouldn't let me play, because it couldn't connect to bethesda to verify my email address. The pop-up EXPLICITLY states that a bethesda account is REQUIRED to play. That is not text your programmers put in the game if the login was supposed to be optional for slayers club members. This is just damage control.

Yup. Maybe I would've bought Rage 2 if it was a solid id Shooter. But I didn't. Maybe I'd buy more Wolfenstein games if they took more time with their QA, but they didn't. Maybe I would still be excited for DOOM Eternal, Starfield, or TES6. But I'm not. Fallout 4 was the last straw for me. Fallout 76 was amplifying everything already wrong with Fallout 4. it is pretty heartbreaking indeed. Every releases from betesda was an instant buy, even without looking at a trailer, i knew i would purchase something good, worthwhile. Now i skip so many games, i am even unsure about TES6. I'll wait for it to get out, be reviewed and a patch or two because they now add microtransactions AFTER reviews

"Tested" Skyrim for over 100 hrs, was worth it, bought it. Enjoy FO4 to this day. As publisher Bethesda did fine with Wolfenstein Old Blood and Doom But what they do these day. Can't wait for the big shareholder gaming bubble to burst.

Thank you for mentioning the similar case of AC Odyssey, imagine if the XP/coin boosters were player-made mods, or completely non-existant. Do you think they would give a damn about auto-completing player-made quests that reward large XP amounts if that was the case? Unlikely.
I feel so bad for Arkane, the amazing developer behind this who made some of the best single-player games out there (Dishonored, Prey, Arx Fatalis). They have the same golden standard as CDPR but have been bottlenecked by Bethesda's aggressive and nasty monetization.

I just think that people respect CDPR for their stances on a lot of issues plaguing the industry, not solely because of the Witcher series. The people at the studio appear to have a very fair and defined moral compass that, from a lot of consumers, has garnered a lot of respect.

The best way to show Bethesda how you feel is to not purchase their products. We're in late-state capitalism, folks, and money is the only vote that matters when it comes to companies.
First, let me say that the last day-one game purchase I made was 2016's DOOM and before that was 2011's Skyrim. That won't ever happen again. You've lost a customer who used to enthusiastically buy your games without question. You can't ever buy back that kind of loyalty and it would take a lot of effort to earn back that I'm now sure you're not willing to put in. So...congratz I guess.
magicguitarman I bought base Skyrim and then a few years later Skyrim Legendary edition. I will not be buying a copy of Young Blood. It not only is not a true Wolfenstein game, but no single player game should EVER have microtransactions.

Even the online part of the game dies, it's still a perfectly playable game that I can play whenever I want as long as I take care of it, just like with any other product I own. I don't know how many of you guys actually played it. But you can unlock everything with in game currency. I unlocked nearly everything within 20 hours or so. That included skins, helmets, and weapon upgrades. The only thing you can't unlock are 2 knife and 2 hatchet skins.

@@krugec23 Since skyrim? Have you played morrowind and oblivion, fallout 3 or other games? All of them were bug-infested shitfests with the community to fix it for them. With skyrim they just removed more and more content and "updated" the game so that mods ceased working everytime. Skyrim is the most watered down ES game and after fallout 4 it really did not surprise me that f76 was the consequence.

The problem is they haven't improved much since then. On top of that, they've been getting lazier, and greedier. Releasing products that are as buggy as past games, while not providing as good of content, and charging more money for it too.

Not trying to defend Howard, he’s certainly not great either but he has nothing to do with this.

This video sums up exactly why Bethesda doesn’t deserve a single penny. The very first patch introduced disabled a cheat engine for their single-player game.
No bug fixes
No extra gameplay
No new encounters
Bethesda cares only about making the player spend coin to progress and does not care about players having fun or having any semblance of control.

With me for some reason one time I did have a glitch when trying to purchase coins to buy a skin, I loaded it for like 5 minutes and nothing happened so I had to close the game fully and a few weeks later it still has the same glitch for me, I don't know about other people but I thought that was funny

It is becoming harder and harder to look forward to a new doom or elder scrolls game. Sell the rights to some of the real game companies before you screw it up.

At this point there's no way I can look forward to DOOM Eternal, Starfield, or TES6.
Fallout 4 was the final straw for me with how many issues it has. It is easily the most broken and poorly designed game they've released up till then. Even with as broken and unfinished as New Vegas was when it was rushed.
Then they force microtransactions into these games, including Skyrim, about 10 years after it released...
Then you have Fallout 76 which is literally everything wrong with Fallout 4, cranked up to 11, and put on drugs.
Now you've got Rage 2 and Wolfenstein becoming dull, mediocre at best, with clear focus on monetization over designing enjoyable games, etc. etc.
Why would I look forward to anything else Bugthesda releases? Even if they release without any of these issues listed above, I can't trust them not to just add these issues in at a later date.

Fortunately DOOM Eternal is being developed entirely by id Software, aka the original company behind the OG games. Bethesda has no hand in creating it, they purely publish it.
And so far pretty much everything I've seen on that front has been positive for me so I'm still very excited for that title at least.
Go and listen to the id guys talk and play their own game demo, it's pure awesomeness.

About the cheats: bloodborne had a feature called the chalice dungeons, people found a way to break them and you can spawn high level dungeons and pretty much get end game weapons as early as the second boss, from soft knew about this and yet they never patched it, they let people enjoy their game.
That's cause endgame weapons in a fromsoft game aren't necessarily any better than starting weapons. I used the hunters are for the entire first playthrough and never switched from it.
You'd still have to deal with high level stuff at a low level, which means you have to still be skilled at the game.
Miyazaki is the greatest. Fromsoft only creates great games for their playerbase. Can't wait for Elden Ring.
@Ultmateluigiman you can actually, you can farm levels in these Dungeons I did it last week, get to level 120 in new game after a couple of hours, there are a couple of enemies that drop 20k souls and are easy to cheese (they drop end game gems too)

In other news, Piranha Games is another developer to fall under Epics shadow. Mechwarrior 5 is now an Epic Exclusive, and people didnt know up until a week ago. So for a few months people who were preordering the game on the promise of steam release. (The agreemant was made back in late april and wasnt announced until last week) They lied to their customers in another bait and switch tactic. (Hmm Epic seems to have a track record for this)

I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan, but there's going to be absolutely no way I'm buy TES6 on release in a couple of years. Not a chance.
Only reason I even bought Skyrim was because the mods made the game worthwhile when the vanilla game was shit. Since they introduced Creation Club, I've been saying the nexxt Elder Scrolls game will have 0% of what makes an ES game good and modding will be limited to CC content only. I want to say that it feels good to be proven correct months before the game is released, but it really doesn't it.
Still, Morrowind, Oblivion and modded Skyrim are there to keep me busy, and still have full mod support.

I so love the idea that a game developer tells me how I should enjoy my single player game that I reward them by not buying the game. That way I don’t find ways to cheat and they can sleep at night knowing I’m not abusing their creation. It’s all a win-win situation.
I reward crappy launches by not pre-ordering, that way the devs can take their time to actually finish the product. And as a no-pre-order reward, I often get to only pay 50÷ or less!

Second, cry, whine, rage or pout, a lot of games are gonna be Epic Exclusive unless Steam decreases the cut it demands. For any Dev/publisher who is using Unreal Engine as the base for their game, publishing on Epic store in general makes more sense with their flat 12% cut as opposed to 30% (For Steam)+5% (For Unreal Engine) if they went to steam. Exclusivity deal by Epic frees them from most of financial risks.

It is a demonstrable lie that the login to bethesda net was supposed to be optional in the classic doom re-releases.
You can put in a bogus email the first time you try and it will let you in to play the game. But then I put my switch to sleep. I came back the next day, at work, without an internet connection. It wouldn't let me play, because it couldn't connect to bethesda to verify my email address. The pop-up EXPLICITLY states that a bethesda account is REQUIRED to play. That is not text your programmers put in the game if the login was supposed to be optional for slayers club members.
This is just damage control.

I feel so bad for Arkane, the amazing developer behind this who made some of the best single-player games out there (Dishonored, Prey, Arx Fatalis). They have the same golden standard as CDPR but have been bottlenecked by Bethesda's aggressive and nasty monetization.
I ain't even mad at Arkane. They gotta do what the boss tells them. Machinegames does not get a pass due to new colossus. But bethesda has been compromised. I

First, let me say that the last day-one game purchase I made was 2016's DOOM and before that was 2011's Skyrim. That won't ever happen again. You've lost a customer who used to enthusiastically buy your games without question. You can't ever buy back that kind of loyalty and it would take a lot of effort to earn back that I'm now sure you're not willing to put in. So...congratz I guess.
magicguitarman I bought base Skyrim and then a few years later Skyrim Legendary edition. I will not be buying a copy of Young Blood. It not only is not a true Wolfenstein game, but no single player game should EVER have microtransactions.

@@-Devy- Let's see... There's the physical version of Dark Souls 3... I can trade it, sell it or give it away if I feel generous. Even the online part of the game dies, it's still a perfectly playable game that I can play whenever I want as long as I take care of it, just like with any other product I own. So, in what way do I not own a copy of the game?
@@rodrigocaceres2879 "Technically", if you were to read the EULA (The End User License Agreement), any game you've bought since the 80's has only been a license to use it. The game still technically belongs to the company.
Fallout 76, Anthem, and Wolfenstein Young Blood, all multiplayer games I was rooting for all opened Pandora's box into hell

They've also said they're making DOOM Eternal grindier to, and I quote, "maximize engagement".

But grind reduces engagement in games like Doom 2016. So the real reason is elsewhere
