I just followed the steps in this video on a 2014 Ford Expedition and it worked! This also fixed the issue of remote start not wanting to work after installing LED interior lights.

You always have the perfect videos for any Ford situation. I installed the remote start on my 2010 Milan and it doesn't do this, but my mom's Expedition does. I'll have to send her this video. I didn't bother installing the hood switch -- don't trust drilling holes in Wisconsin and it's a fail-unsafe design anyway. System works even if the switch isn't connected. Dumb that Ford lets you buy the kit but the installation instructions are damn near impossible to find. And if they're going to go through the extra manufacturing/tooling steps of having excess loops of wire under green tape, why not spend the extra 10¢ on just having a molex connector ready-to-go under the dash?
@@FordTechMakuloco I just tried this on my 2012 Expedition. Now the remote start doesn't work at all. When I push the remote start button, the horn chirps just like normal, then the doors lock, then the horn chirps four times. And that's it. Doesn't start.
Great video! Had to remove panel under steering colume of Taurus to expose Remote start modular. From there I followed wire harnes and found the LED and Button. Thanks so much.
Love your videos! Question- I want to disable this auto off feature on my 2012 fusion (bi-directional starter) but there is no switch or light! Instead, I have a box that says it’s part of this system. The box has a harness attached to it, so I’m not sure if mine has this setup. Can you help me find the program mode?? Got the older 2-way installed in 2014/15ish

If yours does this same thing yes, your should be a standard full wire in like this one I installed. You will know if yours is the same if the key fobs are the same as the one shown.
Will this work for a 2018 ford transit? I don’t mind the 1 honk to let me know it’s on but when I go to open the door it turns off and I have to use the key to restart the van which is very irritating. My other vehicles I can remote start and just jump in and put the key in and go. If I miss a step will i have to reprogram the whole thing? any chance of messing up any other systems? Your advice and help is greatly appreciated

I have a 2011 F150 Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost that has this exact problem when trying to program a new key. All things remote work, including remote start. However when I put the new key in the ignition and into the "ON" position, the engine dies. The original keys continue to work normally, but the new key kills the engine. I can remote start, and then switch to an original key in the ignition and all is good. I searched under the dash, but could not find the reset button. Is that present on the 2011? Great videos!!

I followed the instructions per the video without fail. Thing is that when I start using the brake pedal to cycle through to option 7, on the 5th depression of the brake pedal instead of the horn honking 5 times it honks 6 times and on the 6th depression it blows 7 times instead of 6. So it is to say that the LED does not turn off. Is this a system protection for the disabling of the security system?

FYI I just installed a bidirectional unit in my car that was dated 1/20/16. It does not have the shutdown problem, and it also does not have an option 7 in bank 2 (only goes to 6). So it appears the shudown feature has been removed in the newest produced units.
To sort of springboard off of this, how do you program the remote start when it's an intelligent access key? I had to move my remote start unit to change the cabin air filter, now the car will not remote start, with the error message "Ford Keyfree not detected" on the IPC panel and the alarm starts going off. Does work when the key is in the car. Couldn't find any documentation regarding this problem.

I am having wierd issue where my 2003 explorer drivers side door lock don't work inless I have the key in start or vehicle runing mode. I think it has something to do with the remote start system. Even then door lock code outside don't work inless the vehicle is running or run position.

Absolutely amazing! As soon as I watched this video I tried it in my 2016 Ford Fiesta. Took me a minute to find the module. As soon as I did it worked like a charm and exactly as described. Thank you so much. I was getting ready to have a local electronics place install the Viper Remote Start system in my car because I've had it in the past and loved it. This made the factory remote start manageable. Now I need to experiment with range to see if I still need the upgrade. For now this is perfect!
Great video thanks but no matter what I do my 2008 ford edge will not start. I get 4 beeps and then no start. I downloaded the pdf on how to go through the procedure but nowhere can I find out what 4 beeps mean with a no start

We have a Lincoln MKT with the push button start and we added the remote start and it does it when you open the door. Do you follow the same procedure on the lincoln with push to start or is there another method bc the horn never blew for us to program

***** MyKey and security yes as the pamphlet informs the customer. I have never tried it to see if the mykey features remain. I imagine the car starts as a administrator.

I cant get my car into program mode. I have push to start and I've tried with/without the brake pedal and in accessory/power modes. All of the manuals say to hold the brake and turn the key but thats what starts my engine? I got it once but had trouble cycling through the menu with the brake pedal.
I have a 2014 Expedition with a AL2J-19G367-AA remote start. I was having the issue in this video. I tried the setup you described, but I managed to break the remote start. I verified the doors and hood are closed. I pressed the remote start, one honk, no theft alarm, everything turns on in the vehicle, and the horn honks 4 times, but no start. I followed your instructions. The 2014 Escape now continues to run when the key is inserted and placed in the run position. The car still stops running if the brakes are touched prior to getting the key to the run position. Is there a procedure to get use of the brakes to be ok prior to setting the ignition to run? Another question. I am buying a 2015 F150 with factory remote start. Will this be an issue with this vehicle as well? If so, will this same procedure work on it??
William Miner No the key must be in for it to not kill the engine that is a safty and or theft protection device and is part of the remote start DNA Module. No the factory integrated remote starts do not have this problem.
I have the same issue but with only 1 of the 2 keys I have(2011 F-150) The problem key starts the truck remotely and when you put the key in, it dies. Started 2 months ago(bought it in Aug/18) Now when you put the key in the horn starts blowing until I hit the panic button. Change of battery did not help.
You said to hold the brake pedal and the button at the same time until I hear four honks, I only heard three. So is it three for this model or all models or is it four?
FordTechMakuloco I've memorized your instructions lol. Hold button and brake pedal until 3 honks. Press brake pedal until I hear seven honks then press button on remote start fob. Done. Btw, I about never found the button! Mine was so far up under my steering wheel. I have a 2012 Taurus, so hopefully I will do this right lol. Thanks for the video.

I have a 2014 escape with a push button start also factory installed remote start the problem is similar but it just runs for approximately 30 seconds and dies out when it dies out a red blinking light activates between the fuel and temp gauge

I am having wierd issue where my 2003 explorer drivers side door lock don't work inless I have the key in start or vehicle runing mode. I think it has something to do with the remote start system. Even then door lock code outside don't work inless the vehicle is running or run position.
please help me out i was following the steps from the video above on setting 7 I hold button for too long now the remote start chirps 3times but doesn't turn on .

Absolutely amazing! As soon as I watched this video I tried it in my 2016 Ford Fiesta. Took me a minute to find the module. As soon as I did it worked like a charm and exactly as described. Thank you so much. I was getting ready to have a local electronics place install the Viper Remote Start system in my car because I've had it in the past and loved it. This made the factory remote start manageable. Now I need to experiment with range to see if I still need the upgrade. For now this is perfect!

Great video thanks but no matter what I do my 2008 ford edge will not start. I get 4 beeps and then no start. I downloaded the pdf on how to go through the procedure but nowhere can I find out what 4 beeps mean with a no start
I did this and it works but please help I didn't notice one step wich was i made the car beep when u hold the button and pedal and pressed the brake twice and basically I knew I meesed up so I took the keys off the ignition and started all over jw if I messed anything up?

Does this work for Chevy models too? This keeps happening to a 1999 Chevy Malibu w remote start.

Yeah they did this for awhile and now the kits for the newest cars don't have this anymore.

We have a Lincoln MKT with the push button start and we added the remote start and it does it when you open the door. Do you follow the same procedure on the lincoln with push to start or is there another method bc the horn never blew for us to program

I have 2011 Fusion Ford type remote start with the Ford symbol on it was working fine now you trying to start it with remote honks three times all the doors are closed no lights on any ideas

Yes they are very good and have a much better range than the Ford systems.
I have a 2013 Ford Focus, it came with the remote start already installed. I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the honks for when I'm starting it up, I live in a crowded sun division and it's rude at 4am. also can I extend the run duration

I always thought it did this so that the MyKey function would still operate. With MyKey enabled on the key does the MyKey limitations still work on the vehicle after a remote start?
***** MyKey and security yes as the pamphlet informs the customer. I have never tried it to see if the mykey features remain. I imagine the car starts as a administrator.

I have the same remote fob as the one in the video. How do you get it open without messing up the plastic. I tried a very thin screwdriver but it just chewed up the plastic.

Awesome. I just bought a 2010 expedition Limited and this has been annoying me considerably just in a couple days that I’ve owned it.
I cant get my car into program mode. I have push to start and I've tried with/without the brake pedal and in accessory/power modes. All of the manuals say to hold the brake and turn the key but thats what starts my engine?
I got it once but had trouble cycling through the menu with the brake pedal.
If I do this, does it make it to where the car could be driven off without the key in the ignition?

I have a 2014 Expedition with a AL2J-19G367-AA remote start. I was having the issue in this video. I tried the setup you described, but I managed to break the remote start. I verified the doors and hood are closed. I pressed the remote start, one honk, no theft alarm, everything turns on in the vehicle, and the horn honks 4 times, but no start. Can you help me or guide me to a manual for this model system. Thanks Randy

I followed your instructions. The 2014 Escape now continues to run when the key is inserted and placed in the run position. The car still stops running if the brakes are touched prior to getting the key to the run position. Is there a procedure to get use of the brakes to be ok prior to setting the ignition to run? Another question. I am buying a 2015 F150 with factory remote start. Will this be an issue with this vehicle as well? If so, will this same procedure work on it??
William Miner No the key must be in for it to not kill the engine that is a safty and or theft protection device and is part of the remote start DNA Module. No the factory integrated remote starts do not have this problem.
I have the same issue but with only 1 of the 2 keys I have(2011 F-150) The problem key starts the truck remotely and when you put the key in, it dies. Started 2 months ago(bought it in Aug/18)
Now when you put the key in the horn starts blowing until I hit the panic button. Change of battery did not help.
You said to hold the brake pedal and the button at the same time until I hear four honks, I only heard three. So is it three for this model or all models or is it four?
FordTechMakuloco I've memorized your instructions lol. Hold button and brake pedal until 3 honks. Press brake pedal until I hear seven honks then press button on remote start fob. Done. Btw, I about never found the button! Mine was so far up under my steering wheel. I have a 2012 Taurus, so hopefully I will do this right lol. Thanks for the video.

Love the video but I have kind of a different question. I have the same system under my dash but did not receive a remote start fob when I got the truck (used) is there any way to get a replacement remote? My local dealership is no help. Thanks!
