Nice how-to, not looking forward to do this now during frigid temps on my 97 Explorer 2wd, now that I may need to go that far and have an idea of what I'm gonna be up against potentially this weekend, I'm gonna order more parts JIC. Need to find my puller kit, seal remover and any other tools I may need. Its been a good truck, I may not have a garage to work in, but enough knowledge, tools and such I should be okay. May even see if a buddy has space in his garage and wanna help since hes a Ford man too plus it'll make it a lot easier with a lift.
Hello! I have oil leaking from the front seal (ZF6hp19) ,where is the oil pump, we changed the oil seal but still leaking. Could you tell me if maybe I have to change the bearings behind? Can I change it from the outside, with some special tools?
Hey question for you , so I was driving and my car just got freely while crusing , realized that car is in drive but it wasn’t increasing speed nothing had pulled over put in park and drive didn’t move tried in reverse didn’t move and checked under transmission fluid was dripping from the bell housing any idea what’s wrong with trans ?
@@MoonBuiltGarage recently had new circle d high stall torque converter , by the way you think if front seal is leaking , it will also not let car to move ?
Probably...the transmission housing is only aluminum, so it might be possible to strip the threads out. Just stick to the proper torque specs to be safe

most of the time it really is something simple!
Would the transmission in a 2000 dodge Ram van be the same or similar?
I believe so....but I can't say for sure
Good video
Thanks for the visit
I was hoping to see the bushing replaced 😢

Thank you- GREAT.VIDEO
Hope it helps!
Thank you
Welcome!
Had to do this on 98 Jeep grand Cherokee
Is it necessary to lean the transmission back when removing the pump like that?
Having it verticle like that seems to make things a bit easier keeping things lined up
Makes it easier. I used an engine hoist and seat belt to tilt mine

Just guessing here but either the torque converter or pump failed.

If it were just the front seal it should still move unless you lost too much fluid
@@MoonBuiltGarage pretty sure I loose less than quart
Can do without taking down the Bell
Is it possible to over tighten the pump ???

@@MoonBuiltGarage duck I probably did I got light leakage at my bell housing after fixing pump gears
Whats the part number for the seal in very front of oil pump
30sec Google search...www.transmissionpartsdistributors.com/a518-46rh-46re-a618-47rh-47re-48re-transmission-pump-re-seal-kit-fits-90-dodge-jeep/
I do have a few questions it's actually my first time doing this but have a few questions that doesn't make sense to me
so where did you get your pump kit, i cant find the " bushing"...
I think I got it from transmissioncenter.net/ They have all kinds of parts for a lot of different transmissions
