    Thanks for the details and information of your video. I am also struggling to get the pump re-inserted and have some kind of blockage too. It's one of the trickest parts of the trans rebuild that I have had.

      Did you get it?

      @@giovannogalindo8785 Not yet. I haven't worked on it for a couple of days, but I'm going to start to pull out the sections that I have assembled and inserted to see if there is a blockage. The other thought I had was the possibility that the bottom sections aren't seated correctly. It would be nice to be able to measure the depth of the shaft relative to the transmission housing to verify correct seating.

    Hi, thanks for the video. If an auto trans won't move in drive and2 position but only in L and reverse, will the front clutch be the cause

    Made us sit through the gasket removal, but skipped the splitting of the pump itself?

    Hey, I have a quick question. My th350 leaks quite a bit and I just tried to check where the leaks are. When the pump gasket is leaking, will the torque converter itself be wet? Really hope it's just the pan gasket and shift shaft, these are obvious and easy to do, don't really want to unmount the whole transmission

    • @nickbreaksstuff4115
      @nickbreaksstuff4115  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's possible, but in my situation, the leak was so bad that the fluid was everywhere.

      @maxwmusic8276 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nickbreaksstuff4115 thanks, guess I will start with the obvious leaks and hope for the best, converter itself is dry

    • @nickbreaksstuff4115
      @nickbreaksstuff4115  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gotcha, you may be lucky with just a new pan gasket then. I don't remember if I mentioned this in the video or not, but cranking down on the pan bolts can actually deform the gasket and cause it to leak.

      @@nickbreaksstuff4115 had it at a repair shop and they overtightened the screws of the pan, so that was one of the problems(hope the only one) with mine. btw Is it worth buying a new alloy pan? I've heard they don't leak so quickly

    • @nickbreaksstuff4115
      @nickbreaksstuff4115  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are pricey, but I prefer them. The steel ones can warp pretty easily, particularly around the bolt holes. I also like switching to a pan that has a drain plug. Makes future service work much easier.

    I just finished rebuilding my th350 and have it in the car. The transmission performs well (shifting, etc...) But I have an issue with tranny fluid (about a pint or so) pushing out the tranny dip stick when I shut the engine off. After diagnosing the problem I blew air into the dip stick to check the that the breather vent isn't blocked in any way. I removed the vent tube and found that the passage way to the breather vent cap doesn't vent. So the tranny is building up pressure and blowing out the fluid through the dip stick tube. I followed all steps when rebuilding and can't figure out what the blocked is caused from. Anyone have any ideas before I pull the tranny from the car and take it apart again. Thanks for your help
    Does the front pump seal have an air passage way for the breather vent? Maybe I didn't get it right. The tranny is low on fluid as well, my buddy thinks it is caused by cavitation of the fluid but I'm not convinced yet.

      Did you ever figure out the cause of the blockage?

    • @darylvoorhees2629
      @darylvoorhees2629 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bluegrasskid yes I did get it figured out and fixed. After pulling out the transmission I took the front cover off and sure enough…I had the gasket on wrong. It was miss aligned and the vent passage way was blocked. Put it all back together and it’s working great. A lesson learned for sure!!! I took the pickup for a test drive and let it heat up and no more problems. I’ll be posting a video of its first test drive soon. Thanks for watching

    Can you change out the bearing without taking the pump off?

    • @nickbreaksstuff4115
      @nickbreaksstuff4115  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If all you're replacing is the torque converter weak, you should be able to do that without cracking open the transmission. Unfortunately, my pump seal was leaking, which requires pulling the pump out to replace.
